Summer burn out.

WWE.com has learned that General Manager Theodore Long has ordered a contract signing between King Booker and Batista to take place this week on Smackdown. The contract that they will sign will be for a World Heavyweight Championship rematch on the September 8th edition of Smackdown, 1 week from tonight. What will happen when the champion and the challenger meet in the same ring just one week before the epic rematch?

Last week, Batista defeated World Heavyweight Champion King Booker for the second time in a week's time. "The Animal" prevailed against his majesty at SummerSlam by DQ, but last week, Batista pinned the King in the middle of the ring. Batista also blemished King Booker's evening of celebration and defiled the King's newly appointed knights, Sir Finlay and Sir William Regal. Will the King and his men retaliate on Smackdown?

Also, Rey Mysterio has reportedly been in a fog all week and is still trying to make sense of what occurred last Friday on Smackdown. Last week, Vickie Guerrero stunned the world when she closed her Smackdown address with a bang, a bang that came from the swing of a chair to the body of Rey Mysterio. Mysterio will look to gain the answer to the ultimate question: why? Was this an elaborate plan devised by the two Guerreros? Has Rey been set up for this fall since day one? Will Vickie and Chavo provide any insight to this unexpected turn of events?

In addition to other action, "The Miz" will make his long-awaited in-ring debut on Smackdown tonight. What type of antics will the animated superstar bring to the squared circle tonight?

Sounds like WWE's hyping the non-wrestling segments pretty heavily, but hopefully we'll get a 10-minute Finlay or L/K match. I haven't done this with WWE much over the past few years, but I trust they can do a good show tomorrow.

That totally sucks. I hope they at least keep the US Title match and the Pitbulls/Hooliganz match. With my luck, I'll just get stuck with that stupid Guerrero angle and the Miz. Ugh.

SD is pre-empted in Philly, too. Airs Saturday @ 8 PM.

Looks like tonight's Phillies game has been cancelled, so SD *might* air tonight. I don't recall this happening before, so I'm not sure what will air instead of the regularly scheduled game.

This is going to be the last Smackdown on the stations that are switching to "MyNetwork TV", so look for them to totally dog it for the next 3 weeks or so as far as Smackdown goes.

What the hell do you all have against the Miz? I mean yeah he is annoying as hell but give the kid a break.

Plenty of people want to give Miz a break. Just not the kind you're thinking of.

Funny Miz story from a recent Observer. Jonny Fairplay runs a poker game at his house every week, and Miz sometimes takes part. When people are calling up to see who is going to be there, they'll ask of Miz is going to be there and if he is they'll skip the game. And these are people who can tolerate being around Jonny Fairplay every week.

I really don't see what's so bad about the Miz... I mean, yeah, he's annoying, but isn't that what his character is supposed to be? Last week's promo where he kept cutting off Layla and talking about himself shows me that they're going to officially make him a heel soon.

So, who does he fight this week? Scotty? Funaki? Local jobber?

Dear God, Cole just used "innuendo" in the "rumors" of Chavo/Vickie's agreement...they're gonna get together.

As a long-time Rey fan, I think his dull gray mask/lavendar pants might rival his hideous WM 21 costume.

Here comes Vicki to confront Rey and "face me like a man". By the way, I think this Vicki shit is awesome. The whole angle of the widow telling someone "it's time to move on" is a cool one. The SUmmerSlam match wasn't good, but this is a really twisted angle, and Vicki wouldn't do it if she wasn't comfortable. Chill, it's pro wrestling.

Vicki Guerrero: Desperate Housewife. DECKS REY! HA!

London & Kendrick have a cool double "day in the life" blog on wwe.com that sees an entire day through their eyes (along with road buddy Rene Dupree), detailing their trip to Hammerstein for an ECW bout with the FBI and the rest of the day. Neat.

JBL, in more words, just claimed Michael Cole goes to gay clubs and gets shit in his mouth by men. And then called him a "fruit booty".

Honestly? This is the first SD! I've seen since:

Lashley/Booker cage match Smackdown!

Great American Bash PPV

Oh my god Finlay's fucking awesome as uber-bad ass bar fighter who's gonna kick Kennedy's ass outside.

"This title says FINLAY."

"Why don't I just smack the living daylights out of you?" (calmly)

"Go make it a cage match."

Kennedy's t-shirt is awesome. It's a tribute to an early 90's band, I can't remember who, though.

JBL on Cole not knowing about women: "Just because you spend your weekends going to clubs and eating Count Chocula with guys like Vito, you fruit booty."

I'm sad that (from hearing the non-spoiler matches) Terkay and/or Burke won't be in action. I watched clips of them on wwe.com and I really dig Terkay's raw MMA look and cool jacket.
