Slickster Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 I really like how the ECW ramp is crammed into the MSG tunnel. It looks so much like classic ECW.
cd213 Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Man, I hope that Striker writes his own promos because if he doesn't, I'll be sad. I'm sure that the writing team isn't smart enough to be able to use those big words. They are the ones that Matt is talking to about looking up the words.
humongous2002 Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Why are they repeating this unentertaining RAW crap for?
Quasar Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Kanyon needs to re-evaluate his "I got fired for being gay" theory because Dupree and Grenier are still employed. Of course, Grenier is fucking Patterson. I don't know who Dupree is fucking to keep his job though. What is this obsession about Dupree and general gayness? Every 10 words out of you is generally some "gay", "homo" reference. This is your first exposure to me right? I rarely mention gays, unless I'm making a Dupree joke or defending gay marriage.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 I still don't get why Show is in that match. Show's gonna go flying off/through the cage for your HOLY SHIT moment of the evening.
Slickster Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 The hard sell for Unforgiven prefaces the ECW World Title match.
cd213 Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 I still don't get why Show is in that match. Show's gonna go flying off/through the cage for your HOLY SHIT moment of the evening. I was actually thinking that it was going to be Shane that would go flying off/through the cage. Show falling can hurt someone else or himself very badly.
Slickster Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Listen to that crowd chant along with the "suicidal, homicidal..." bit. Any idea why they dropped the word "Heavyweight" from the name of the belt?
Slickster Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Where's the ECW Titantron at? MSG's tunnel has always been too small to hold a tron. For RAW last night they had to construct a separate stage.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 I take it running a taped show kills a show thread for ECW just like it does Smackdown...

You know, as much as I think the way they book HIAC matches now, with more emphasis on grueling, barbaric punishment, part of me really misses the days of the crazy, 'holy shit' bumps they used to throw in. Nothing in a HIAC match will ever top the Undertaker-Mankind match, but it would be fun to see them try.
cd213 Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 I take it running a taped show kills a show thread for ECW just like it does Smackdown... I was thinkg about that as well and was about to post something like that.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Because they want Show's loss to a barely-heavy (RVD/Punk) to mean more.
Slickster Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Remember, in its 12 years of operation ECW never had a live TV show until June 13 of this year.

It was only a few minutes into the match that Foley went off the top and then from there it really was just Foley getting his ass handed to him by taking that punishment. It's memorable, but overated.

cd213 Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 That was exciting, time to go watch OZ now.
NoCalMike Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Well the show definately came off very good on TV, probably a lot due to the NY Crowd, and their general knowledge and appreciation for ECW. Everyone says Vince listens to NY Crowds(probably only when it suits his own plans) but if there is any truth to that notion, then I hope he was listening tonight because just about every ECW Original besides Stevie(who barely counts because he doesn't use his old ecw gimmick) was massively over, while WWECW guys were booed and mocked and shit on by the fans...... I'd say my favorite WWECW guy this far is Big Show merely because he is seeming to give an effort and generally looks like he wants to be over with the crowd, not as a face, but more as a respect thing. I am sure he will wear out his welcome because with his limitations there is only so much uniqueness you can put into his matches before they all seem the same, but thus far they have done a good job with him and his role.....
NoCalMike Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 EDIT: Double Post(Cat walked on keyboard).

AmazingRen Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 I think Show and Renee were booed because they were heels.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 I was there and Punk didn't seem that over with the crowd...
nl5xsk1 Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 This is your first exposure to me right? I rarely mention gays, unless I'm making a Dupree joke or defending gay marriage. You made two gay jokes about Joey Styles on page two of this thread.
k thx Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 I thought it was a damn good show. I like the fact that they used almost every wrestler they have in one way or another.
RedJed Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Punk wasnt really that over on the show, he was audibily telling people "come on" etc, and when he went to the fans by the barricade one person stood up for him nearby - the rest just sat there. While I'm a fan of his, the response he got there seemed pretty weak by most week's standards. Overall the show seemed very much just there to me. Please move on from Sabu-Show.

It would be amazing, but remember for the WWE "wrestling" fan that Rikishi spot was amaing. When Rikishi went off the HIAC I didn't think it was that great. Sure the visual was impressive, but he landed in a truck filled with sawdust (or whatever it was) so people knew it wasn't going to be as "spontaneous" looking as Foley or even HBK. Personally, Rikishi coming off the top of the cage and squashing Val Venis dead was a much bigger "Holy Shit!" moment. I didn't think he was really going to do it (I didn't think there was a chance in hell Val would risk getting landed on by a 350 pound man from that height) and there wasn't anything to tip it off.
