Blue Bacchus 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 I just called my local target (North Miami) and the dude told me that they are getting a shipment of Wii on sat night to put out on the floor for sunday. This confirms a rumor thats been floating around that some places are going to have it this sun. Check your local targets. Supposedly they are getting wii motes and nunchucks along with the wii clasic controler. Good luck! All Targets are getting their 2nd mass shipments this weekend due to *gasp* The Wii is in next weeks ad. Expect between 4 to 40 depending on your stores sales volume. Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 1, 2006 I've been saying it forever, if they can get the rights to release Goldeneye again, along with multiplayer support, my god. It may be coming... Naturally, then, the mammoth Nintendo 64 hit "GoldenEye" would be worth it even though the game's developer is now owned by Microsoft and the James Bond license was recently snatched up by Activision? "Would I love to see it on virtual console? Absolutely. But there are a lot of issues there." He made it sound like there's a chance. "Suffice it to say we would love to see it, so we're exploring all the rights issues." But, yes, Sunday is when they're selling them. Target seems to be the best store to go, as they're getting the most.

Anya 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 Nintendo, I don't think anyone really expected the Wii to fly off store selves the way it is right now Oh come on.... Nintendo just didn't ship enough systems, just like Sony and MS. Nintendo planned to have a million for launch or "early December". When MS and Sony have a shortage it's incompetence. When Nintendo does it's actually because Nintendo is so great everyone wants one.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 1, 2006 Because stores are consistently receiving Wiis, whereas they weren't with the other 2 consoles. I agree that there probably should be more out now, but Nintendo is definitely not at the level of the other 2.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 Whereas N64 era emulation is not perfect, and the games will generally have more playability, which makes it a better deal for me, even if the price is still a bit high. Not perfect = improved textures, less blur, and 480p support? That is, going by Mario 64. Of course, supposedly rumble is out, but we haven't seen a game that originally supported rumble yet on VC. Plus, Nintendo plans to offer updates to some VC games. Reggie himself said that they planned to have sold a million Wiis sold by December 1st, BTW. As far as we know, that many haven't even been released. I'd expect Nintendo would be touting that today if they'd have met that goal.
Anya 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 It's not as bad of a shortage. Anything is going to look good compared to Sony's pathetic numbers. Doesn't mean they get off the hook with spin about it being because they're just flying off the shelves. That's why none of these launches mean anything. There is no way to judge demand when none of them can meet supply. It's easy to get all excited and hyped about Wii's being sold out but so what? It's 600,000. All three would be selling that and much more if they could actually get the systems out there. The only thing this nonsense is good for is PR. Nintendo gets a free chance to put out press releases hyping it up and Sony can't say anything at all since they only released like 100 PS3s in North America. I would hope that the Wii emulation was perfect (or reasonably close) and by most accounts it seems to be. 5th gen PC emulation being flawed, while the Wii's emulation being good, makes the N64 games more attractive to me. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 Im gonna bitch now..because this is something Ive been trying to figure out but not seriously until just now: In order to transfer saves from the internal memory to SD cards, the W!! has to fucking update via the internet. So basically Im stuck with the internal memory for saves. YAY! I thought this was a built in feature. Anyone know if Nintendo is offering those stupid startup discs or some way to update the W!! without internet? Edit: Found it..gotta call a #.. ugh..waste of post #21,
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 2, 2006 Why do you want to transfer saves to SD cards?
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 To have a backup in case, oh, something happens like a Wii update bricking your system. Which has happened in some rare cases, has happened with 360, and will likely happen with PS3, just like any system that uses these firmware updates/patches. And yeah, at first I thought I had a bad SD card, and then I read in the manual I gotta update it. argh.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 Why do you want to transfer saves to SD cards? Duh..the internal memory is only 512 and its not very many "blocks" for saves. Its really not a problem now, but it would be if I could download VC games, but then I could download the update... Ive got a 512 card for my camera that works (Ive used the photo viewer thing) but I couldnt figure out how to transfer saves to the SD cards. I assume I can offload the saves on my computer using my card reader, although I haven't looked to see if thats possible yet. I do know the saves are specific to your console so you cant trade em.. 2,145 blocks open..I guess its not too much to worry about right now but I still want to get the update before its not available anymore or something. Duh...512MB will be more than you'll ever need for saves. Doesn't Zelda and Wii Sports take like 2 blocks each? Andrew is right about the Wii issues, though. I wonder how Nintendo will deal with VC problems that ensue with that...
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 Zelda uses, like, 1 block. It's crazy, I would expect more.
World's Worst Man 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 512 megs of flash memory really is way, way more than enough for game saves. I doubt I'll even use 10% of that space. Even on PS2, with 2 8 meg memory cards, I rarely ran into space issues. And Wii games seem to use even less space than PS2 games.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 But it isn't enough for that "downloadable content" that was discussed, which we're looking into hard drive territory for. Nothing of the sort has materialized, yet, though.

Eclipse 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 Finally, after busting my ass looking for the Wii everywhere since the launch, I finally got one today. My friend who works at a Gamestop tipped me off that 3 of them came into his store. Rushed over there, and picked it up. I am selling my GCN and some games to get some credit towards Zelda, and then just pay off the rest. I successfully updated the system and stuff. Interesting thing to note though...on the Wii Shop channel, a description appears saying how you can purchase your Virtual Console games and "new channels".....hmmm... I am actually excited for the "big update" that Nintendo is promising before Xmas.....I hope it's a music channel.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 2, 2006 It will be either the Wii Music thing, or the Opera browser. Which was rumored to be ready early December.
World's Worst Man 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 My Wii froze tonight while I was playing Wii golf...has anyone else had any freezing? Not as of yet. I ran into a nifty bug with the nunchuk though. A couple times yesterday, my analog stick direction input got "stuck" even though actual controller stick did not. Had to reconnect the nunchuk to the remote to fix it. I think it may have had something to do with me moving the stick in a certain direction, and then moving the remote well off the screen. At least, thats what seemed like triggered it both times.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 Zelda uses, like, 1 block. It's crazy, I would expect more. That doesn't surprise me as Nintendo is pretty good with memory saving....not counting the first Nintendo Gamecube memory card, boy that was a HUGE mistake on their part. Anya 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 Was my #1 until FF VII came out. Unbelievable atmosphere that still holds up. I'd pay 8 dollars or whatever it is for that and a few other SNES games. If anything just for the convience. My SNES and Genesis are a pain to play because they're off buried somewhere in a closet along with a million lame fighting games and other carts. I was thinking of playing it the other day but forgot about it because I don't want to set it all up.

When you turned on the system you probably had the stick tilted in some direction, and that was set as the "neutral" position. This happens on every current system that has an analog stick.
