Since I don't think I've seen it done here

Recommended Posts

There was a great one on Classic SNL two or three weeks ago from when Seinfeld was hosting in '99. It was one of the last skits of the night and Will Ferrell, Horatio Sanz, and Jimmy Fallon were playing hoods who were pound some information out of Seinfeld but Ferrell wanted them take it easy so they wouldn't kill him but he still wanted to beat him up so they could get the information so they set up some sort of mini hospital for when Seinfeld slipped into unconciousness. And there was one point where Ferrell and Seinfeld both cracked and Horatio Sanz was the guy who was cracking up the LEAST in the skit (weird, isn't it?)

Anyways it's one of those skits that's hard to describe and you kind of have to see it to get it. But it's a really funny skit I hadn't seen till like two weeks ago.

Steve Martin's Holiday Wish

http://snltranscripts.jt.org/86/86fwish.phtml

Steve Martin: If I had one wish that I could wish this holiday season, it would be for all the children of the world to join hands and sing together in the spirit of harmony and peace.

If I had two wishes that I could wish for this holiday season, the first would be for all the children of the world to join hands and sing in the spirit of harmony and peace.. and the second would be for $30 million a month to be given to me, tax-free in a Swiss bank account.

You know, if I had three wishes that I could make this holiday season, first, of course, would be for all the children to get together and sing.. the second would be for the $30 million every month to me.. and the third would be for all encompassing power over every living being thing in the entire universe.

And if I had four wishes that I could make this holiday season, first would be the crap about the kids.. second would be for the $30 million.. the third would be for all the power.. and the fourth would be to set aside one month each year for an extended 31-day orgasm, to be brought about slowly by Rosanna Arquette and that model Paulina somebody, I can't think of her name, of course my lovely wife could come, too. She's behind me 100% on this, I guarantee you.

Wait a minute, maybe that sex thing should be the first wish! So, if I made that the first wish, because, you know, it could all go boom tomorrow, and then what have you got? No, no.. the kids singing would be great, that would be nice. No, no, who am I kidding! I mean, theyu're not gonna be able to get all those kids together! I mean, the logistics of the thing is impossible! It's mroe trouble than it's worth! So, we reorganize: here we go. First, the sex - we go with that; second, the money. No! We go with the power second, then the money, and then the kids. Oh, wait, oh geez! I forgot about revenge against my enemies! Okay.. revenge against all my enemies, they should die like pigs in Hell! That would be the fourth wish! And of course, my fifth wish would be for all the children of the world to join hands and sing in the spirit of peace and harmony. Thank you, everybody.

Not necessarily my favorite, but the Norm/Tim Meadows/Jay Mohr/Sandler/ Farley get eaten by Polar Bear sketch in the season finale of the 94-95 season (David Duchovny). It's so absurd I love every second of it.

--Chris Farley, by himself, in that 'Little Women' parody is hysterical.

--Phil Hartman as Bill Clinton on a morning jog through McDonalds.

--The first Presidential debate between Bush (Ferrell) and Gore (Hammond). It's on my iPod.

I don't know if it's my memory or what, but I have a hard time recalling anything besides the ones already mentioned. Perhaps it's because the writing has always been shaky, but it's just the performers (and the way they deliver the lines) that made a sketch great. And even then, mostly everything is forgettable. Years of Hartman, Farley, Sandler, Ferrell and none of us can recall more than a few key sketches - and most of those tanked anyway.

The lost baby sketch with Ferrell, Parnell, Meadows, and Shannon was so random and bizarre I can't help but love it. I still laugh everytime I see Tim as Dr. Steven Poop.

Puff Daddy (Jamie Foxx) and Jennifer Lopez (Cheri O' Teri) in therapy with Tim Meadows as the therapist is a classic sketch that doesn't get alot of love. Jamie Foxx got Puff Daddy down pat. The dance he does before he starts his rap is classic.
