I've been looking to pick up an NBA game. Would you guys recommend this one to be the one to get?

Yes. Nba live sucks all types of ass this year...unless there has been some patches I haven't known about. I know that the inital releases weren't even close. 2k7 really out did it this year. (not that i think that is any change from the last 6-7 years, just that I think this is the first year of universal praise for one game.)

In 2K7, you see different things in every game. I'm not even talking about the next-gen version, but the PS2 version. This game is really good.

Shawn Marion's shooting motion in particular, had me laughing so hard I had to pause the game.

Ah, so that's why there's the occasional weird chest shot shooters in College Hoops 2K7...

It is pretty funny.

Hey Leelee, did you play both of the college basketball games this year? Are either of them worth a damn this time or is it another wait till next year situation?

Only on XBox...

On there, 2K7 is still far superior. March Madness' graphics are hideous, they seriously look PS1-ish. Gameplay is still far ahead with 2K7. Other than the announcers (and that's only if you don't hate Vitale), 2K7 kills MM in every way.

I've read that the 360 version of 2K7 is very good. The XBox version is basically a roster update of 2K6, with a slightly toughened up defensive AI.

Alright cool, thanks. I needed a new version and something was telling me to avoid MM in every possible way. Thanks again for the conformation.

So, I rented this tonight. It's going to take some extra time, since in addition to my first time playing the game, it's my first time playing any game on the 360 (it's my brother's system), so I'm getting used to the controls.

Free throws have been nearly impossible for me so far...I think I've taken six and made two, and have only had one bad release. Ripper said they play real good D, but I guess I need to set it to a higher difficulty level, because it's not much different than the later Live games to me. I've also noticed that they were too lazy to pronounce Jasikevicius, so they just call him "Number 3."

I can't figure out how to crossover or do a spin move yet, either. Or alley-oop. Is this possible?

I don't think you have to do all that for a oop. Just the Right trigger and B in the direction towards a player with a oop chance. Right trigger and A does the much more useful bounce pass, making the pick and roll particularly sick this year.

I have NBA Live and the whole "CPU starting point guard going off in every game no matter who the point guard is" doesn't really bother me that much, but um, how do you stop Steve Nash? I'm fine at the game on All Star and can beat any team but Nash I swear gets 40 to 50 points on me every game no matter how I defend him.

2K7 is like that, too. I gave up a 50-pointer to Chris Paul, and even Daniel Gibson almost got 30 on me.

Troy Murphy is incredbile on this game, btw. He's an assassin from three-point range, and a beast on the boards. He also won the aforementioned Cleveland game for me almost single-handedly after I trailed by 10 with a minute left.

I'm starting to use 3-2 zones now for most of the game. It always works against the Suns. They may hit jumpshots early, but eventually they start going cold. Forcing teams to jump shots for the whole game is the way to go.

Nash never scores on me honestly unless I miss a rotation on defense and he is wide open.

Point guards don't have big games on me. Its the 2 guards that do me in.

I've been playing NBA Street Homecourt on PS3 a lot lately and it's a lot tougher than it used to be. I beat most of the game with myself, Okafor and Joe Johnson. I didn't get any good recruits until MUCH later in the game.

I remember being nasty at the first one for PS2, going undeafted throughout the whole challenge even when the difficulty was at its highest.

I think 2K is MUCH better. I think the gameplay is more fluid and natural and its presentation and depth in legacy mode combined having a Selection Show that closely mimicks the real one for the tournament is heads and tails above EA. Also, it's pretty cool how in legacy mode there are invitational tournaments you can enter and win to try to boost your team's resume for the tournament.

I'm thinking of buying NBA 2K7 as well but can you draft your college players into the pro game?
