lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 I'm so happy the Tigers won this game. It puts Detroit in a great spot, and I got bragging rights for a night over all the fucks from New York that have been talking shit all week in Ann Arbor

Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 A-Rod sucking ass is no exaggeration. I decide to check the game from a PC at my school, bases loaded, A-Rod up, and maybe this is the turnaround for him. He strikes out in three pitches.... Anyway, Randy Johnson is facing who again? Kenny Rogers? Is that supposed to scare us?

Are you saying that Yankee fans are overexaggerating dicks. No way. Well, not just that, but suddenly a lot of the Detroit fans have found their swagger again. I agree they're in a good spot, considering Johnson's status. But I can't see them taking both home guys, which means a trip back to the Bronx is likely in the mix. KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 So far, it seems like everyone's declaring the losing team dead for the rest of the series. I'm not saying the Yankees are dead, but RJ's numbers (11 games, 2-7 4.59 ERA, 67 hits, 13 HRs) don't lie. Yankees offense will probably have to put some runs up to hold him up. Plus, Jared Wright goes in Game 4. Who knows which one shows up, though.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 Check his numbers against the Tigers. Those numbers don't lie either.

lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 Yankees fans can kiss my ass. I respect the 26 world titles, the 39 pennants and the 200 million dollar payroll. What I don't respect is Yankees fans treating the Tigers like some kind of joke. They won 95 games this year, which is something you just don't get lucky and do. The team has shown they aren't afriad of the Yankees, but yet all NY fans can do is find excuses to why their team lost. They simply ran into a team today that made more plays when it mattered. A-Rod had no chance at nearly any of the pitches he saw today, but its A-Rod fucking up that is the reason why he struck out, not the fact that Zumaya was throwing 103 with movement. Now, someone makes a comment about Kenny Rogers not scaring the Yankees...well, Randy Johnson isn't scaring anything but the mirror with the way he is pitching. Detroit has the momentum, and I hope to god that they win the next two because frankly, I hate the Yankees fans that much. So some respect when you lose to the better team

Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 The only reason Yankee fans get singled out is because the Yankees have won a lot. They aren't any different than any other fans. In fact, Tiger fans are now pissing me off.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 The only reason Yankee fans get singled out is because the Yankees have won a lot. They aren't any different than any other fans. In fact, Tiger fans are now pissing me off. No, Yankees fans get singled out because they complain about having Mike Mussina (who's one the 5 best pitchers in the AL) and Alex Rodriguez (who's one of the 5 best, period) on their team, despite the fact that they are the only team in the league with the financial resources to keep both. They choose to blame these guys instead of acknowledging that the Tigers have put together a decent squad this year, and literally anything can happen within a 5 game series. And the worst part is, once the offseason comes the team will spend $90 million on Barry Zito and another $100 million on Daisuke Matsuzaka, and these spoiled fans will get to start the whole thing all over again.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 Yes, every single Yankee fan in unison, including me all hate Mussina and A-Rod. I mean, it's not like anybody hated on Nate Robertson yesterday? Nope. Or no one was pissed at Hunter for that play? Nope. Or nobody was getting on Wagner for nearly blowing a save? Nah. And no one was getting sick of Peavy's crap performances in the playoffs. Nah. Everyone is all nice and sweet with their teams (well the Cardinal fans actually are), and only the Yankee fans dislike their players. Stupidest shit I ever heard. Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted October 5, 2006 The difference is that other teams hate on their players for good reason, usually. If you want to get down on A-Rod for his lack of producing in the playoffs, fine. But, the constant "not clutch!", "only cares about tacking on to his stats!", etc... is a bunch of bs. dh86 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 im glad game three is now saturday...Zumaya can be available again edit:read that wrong...but I believe the Tigers can really get this series done at Comerica
Annabelle 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 come on now. i love the tigers but this is hardly a sign that they're gonna easily wrap this series up. the tigers got lucky that the yanks couldn't produce today. i am taking nothing away from verlander, but he allowed a lot of scoring opportunities for the yankees. two things impressed me the most 1. unheralded starts like thames & granderson coming through. 2. the tigers bullpen. the tigers strength is the yanks weakness. and vice versa. if the tigers can get a quality 5-6 innings from rogers, they'll be laughing. i just don't have enough faith in him as a starter. plus, with the tigers run & gun offense, they can easily be shut out as quickly as they can put up 10 runs. you can almost gaurentee that they dependable yanks offense will put up runs, but will their bullpen hold it? is johnson up to snuff? really, the yankees pitching is the worst in the playoffs. no one really thinks about how awful they are outside of wang, rivera, and sometimes mussina. johnson is sporting a meaty 5.00 era when healthy, and wright hasn't done much either. i don't know which way i am leaning. i think my heart is saying tigers & my brain is saying yanks. but i'd love to be proven wrong. naiwf 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 Complaining about your # 4 starter sucking ass and complaining about being "saddled" with a $25 million/year 2x MVP, and $19 million/year ace with 200+ wins are not the same thing.
lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 I watched the game at one of the bars here and all the Yankees fans were talking about is how much the Tigers suck and how the only reason they won the game was because A-Rod struck out and that A-rod sucks. Keep in mind two of his strikeouts, I don't think anyone else could have hit those pitches. I can count about 30 other teams that would gladly have A-Rod as their third baseman. Yankees fans are so damn spoiled, that they get on a guy for having a "down" year in which he hit .290 with 35 home runs and 121 runs batted in. Those are legit MVP type stats, and keep in mind the guy is playing a different position out of respect for Derek Jeter. I just get so pissed off when I see a team that I've followed my entire life, finally make it to the big stage, and totally get treated as a total joke. I really hope the Tigers win the next two at home, so the Yankees can go out and try to buy more players instead of building a "team". They don't have any sort of chemistry together, and their management isn't that great. Yes, they developed some great players, in Jeter, Cano, Posada, Mo, etc. But for the most part, anyone with half a brain can build an all-star team with an unlimited budget. I just think its hilarious that Yankees fans sit around and bitch and complain and moan that they haven't won a World Series in six years. They don't have any sense of rooting for the hometown team when they are having a down period, and they don't show any humility when their team loses. bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 i lived near detroit most of my life till last year, it's just so surreal for me to see the Tigers in the playoffs, against the Yankees. I have to root for them, and pick them, no matter how impossible it may be. Even if they got sweeped in the next round, the Tigers making the playoffs and beating the Yankees would be incredible. Guest Paul Report post Posted October 6, 2006 Oh man...what a two days at the stadium. They dicked us around REAL good last night. I stayed in NY and caught the game today. Yankees left too many guys on the bases, as you saw. Zumaya...oh my. He's sick. I was there for BP and during that, Verlander and Zumaya were throwing. The sound of that ball hitting Verlanders glove was insane. Verlander was also a cool guy as he interacted with us. Back to Zumaya...nasty. The guy throws so damn hard. Upsetting ending, but a good trip.

Whoever complained about Moose is an idiot. And A-Rod is a very good player, but he isn't exactly setting the world on fire in these situations. You can't start the game striking out on three pitches in the 1st inning with the bases loaded. I don't care how many MVPs you've won, come through sometime (and I know he has, but not many times). Guest Paul Report post Posted October 6, 2006 Moose pitched well today...even worked the crowd into a frenzy at one point. I shudder to think of their rotation without him. Nothing to say about A-Rod. The post season isn't over yet. Something is wrong. He's one of the best players ever. A nice out at 3rd for him today as well. That got us up.
