cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2006 Here are the games for Sunday, October 22. I'll post my predictions as well. 1:00: Detroit at NY Jets: Tough one to call really. Lions got that elusive 1st win, but I figure the Jets to win here by about 6. Green Bay at Miami: Yeah, the Packers suck but losing to the Dolphins at this point is like franchise killing level bad. I'll take Favre over whoever Miami tosses out there. GB by 4. San Diego at Kansas City: Chiefs are coming off a total beating and I'd certainly think SD would add to their woes. Chargers by 10. Pittsburgh at Atlanta: Steelers layed said beating on the Chiefs, but are they really back? Another tough call but I'll go with the Steelers pulling it out by 3. New England at Buffalo: Bills are struggling but should put up a tough effort at home. That said, the Patriots will pull this one off in typical fashion, something like 20-14. Jacksonville at Houston: Jags coming off a bye week, but it's hard to say which team will show up. The team that can barely score 10 points, or the team that scored 41. I'll say somewhat in between, Jags 21-10. Carolina at Cincinnati: Bengals are on a 2 game slide, Panthers are playing well right now. Bengals need this really, really bad so I'll reluctantly take them to win here by 7 at home. Philadelphia at Tampa Bay: Are the Bucs regrouping to some extent? I can't see them winning this game but they'll keep it reasonably close. Eagles by 6. 4:00: Denver at Cleveland: This will be like watching paint dry. If either team gets to 20 I'd be surprised. Broncos should win another 17-10 type game. Arizona at Oakland: I'll go on a limb here, albeit not much of a limb. The Cardinals may well have a hangover after the debacle on Monday, so I will take the Raiders to pull of that elusive first win. Raiders 21-17. Washington at Indianapolis: Colts are coming off a bye week, Skins are struggling. I'll go with the Colts at home by 10, since they need the win before the tough road games at Denver and NE. Minnesota at Seattle: Vikings are still a bit of a mystery team, and if this was in MN I'd take them to win. In Seattle though? Nah. Seahawks by 10, 31-21. Monday 8:30: NY Giants at Dallas: This looks like a total tossup. Cowboys finally have to play someone decent at home. I'll go with Dallas picking up the home win by 3 in OT. Guest Felonies! Report post Posted October 17, 2006 1:00: Detroit at NY Jets: High-scoring game, Jets by 10. Green Bay at Miami: Dolphins have to win this, they'll get it by 6. San Diego at Kansas City: Can't really get a read on the Chiefs; they've been on both sides of blowouts. Still, San Diego is one of the best teams in football, obviously, so they'll win, but I don't know if it'll be a blowout. Maybe by 17? Pittsburgh at Atlanta: The Steelers are going to right the ship, but it'll only be a Steelers win by 3. New England at Buffalo: They almost beat the Patriots on the road last time, so I'm going to pick this one as my upset. Bills by 1. Jacksonville at Houston: Of course the Jaguars win, Jags by 13. Carolina at Cincinnati: The Panthers will keep winning with Steve Smith. Scary team they have there. Panthers by 7. Philadelphia at Tampa Bay: Bucs will improve w/Gradkowski but not enough to beat the Fighting McNabbs. Eagles by 17. 4:00: Denver at Cleveland: Cleveland by 3 in overtime as God sends a message to the Broncos to stop being so fucking boring? Arizona at Oakland: Oh hey, I was wrong about Denny Green getting fired (yet) but their offensive coordinator got fired like 12 hours after the loss. Still, I imagine that they'll get their shit together enough to at least beat the Raiders. The Buzzsaw by 10. Washington at Indianapolis: The Colts make a statement and win by 24. Minnesota at Seattle: Close game here. Seattle by 3 in overtime. Why doesn't NBC have a game this week? Monday 8:30: NY Giants at Dallas: America loses when the NFC East is nationally televised on ESPN.
The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2006 Raiders will make the impressive comeback in the second half, after being down by 17. They will send it into overtime, and win the game in the final seconds with a 35 yard field goal. Raiders 27-
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2006 Colts vs. my Redskins....LOL. Redskins have an injury-riddled defense, and an inconsistent offense..... Colts 38 Redskins 16 After this game, assuming the Redskins lose, they will be 2-5, and heading into their bye week, that would give Jason Campbell 2 weeks of preperation for his first NFL Start. I would make the move if the Redskins lose.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2006 The survivor pool should be interesting this week. Not much to choose from.
Just John 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2006 Why doesn't NBC have a game this week? They don't wanna go head to head with the World Series, I imagine. Since I'm here, I'll toss out some picks: Jets 31, Lions 24: The Jets aren't that good, but the Lions find a way to lose. Dolphins 17, Packers 13: Ugly game here. Neither team is any good, so I'll take Miami at home. Chiefs 27, Chargers 24: I like KC to rebound and win at home. They're better than 2-3. Steelers: 20, Falcons 16: The Steelers are getting back in form, ATL is overrated. Patriots 24, Bills 14: Typical unimpressive Pats win. Jaguars 23, Texans 7: Coming off the bye against a weak D... Yeah I'll take the Jags. Panthers 34, Bengals 17: The Panthers are good, Cincy is very overrated. No D kills them again. Eagles 17, Bucs 3: Tampa still isn't going anywhere. Eagles get back on track with an ugly win. Broncos 16, Browns 7: *Yawn* Cardinals 38, Raiders 21: Try as they might, no way Zona can lose to the worst NFL team in years. Colts 31, Redskins 28: Washington continues to expose Indy's D, but Peyton leads his team to a late win. Seahawks 20, Vikings 10: Pretty standard game. Cowboys 24, Giants 21: The good Dallas team shows up on Monday night.

Red Baron 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2006 If they were smart enough, I'd put in two champion teams head to head on a Sunday night against the World Series, and hype the shit out of it. Like Bears vs Pats, or Steelers vs Bengals. Ratings man.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2006 For some reason I can't see the Colts squashing the Redskins. The Colts haven't looked dominating this season aside from maybe the Texans game. Clinton Portis should have a good game against the Colts's hideous run defense. Who knows what Brunell will do? I think the Colts will win it but this is pretty much Washington's last stand so they will give it an effort. Colts will be up by 3 or 7 late, then get a FG or TD to put it away by 10. devo 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2006 If they were smart enough, I'd put in two champion teams head to head on a Sunday night against the World Series, and hype the shit out of it. Like Bears vs Pats, or Steelers vs Bengals. Ratings man. Considering the steady decline of baseball ratings, they could probably put anything up against a World Series game and at least beat it. The problem is, at least a couple million people are going to watch the baseball game regardless of how good the football matchup is, so why waste time and money putting together and promoting a big game? Guest Felonies! Report post Posted October 18, 2006 How steady is this decline? For postseason play, they shot up in 2003 and 2004 and fell down in 2005.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2006 I can't imagine this year's postseason to generate much interest. All teams seem to be... how do you say... weak in some aspects.
devo 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2006 World Series ratings since 1995... 1995 ABC / NBC 19.5 1996 FOX 17.4 1997 NBC 16.8 1998 FOX 14.1 1999 NBC 16.0 2000 FOX 12.4 2001 FOX 15.7 2002 FOX 11.9 2003 FOX 13.9 2004 FOX 15.8 2005 FOX 11.1 http://baseball-almanac.com/ws/wstv.shtml The decline isn't uniformly steady, but it's there. 2004 had the miracle Red Sox to bolster ratings, which would probably have finished in the 12-14 range otherwise. I'd be surprised to see the ratings from this upcoming series top 12.0, especially if the Mets don't make it in.

Guest Felonies! Report post Posted October 18, 2006 He meant when ESPN had Sunday games. Oh and by the way, as impressive as the Dennis Green thing was, let's be honest, that's only like a 0.3 Lee Elia.

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted October 20, 2006 Ahman Green might return on Sunday. If his fumbilitus returns, I would be okay with Noah Herron running the ball. Remember that his fumble at the end of the Saints game cost us the game, and another one also late in the game (within the last two minutes) almost cost us the Lions game. I feel more confident about Green Bay winning this Sunday than I have about them winning any other game this year, at least so far. It'll be a good matchup for them, and I'm pissed I don't have the money to go see it myself live (well I do, but I'm not going to sit in the nosebleeds when I can watch the game better on TV in the cool comfort of my own home). CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 When is Favre retiring, again? Miami with an absolute gift, starting at the Green Bay 8.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 "Favre should've retired 5 years ago. He's probably no better than a third-ballot hall of famer now. TRADE HIM ! TRADE HIM!" -Dr Z etc Its really weird hearing Matt Vasgersian call a Packer game impartially. GOOD NITE NOW!
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 Hopefully this quiets the Chargers fans who were going "CHARGERS > BEARS BECAUSE THEY LOOK MORE COMPLETE!" Yeah so complete you turn the ball over 3 times in the 1st causing a 14-0 KC lead.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted October 22, 2006 Yeah with Chad Clifton out, that changes a lot of what Green Bay can do on offense. Ask any Packer fan what kind of luck the offense had a couple years earlier when they lost Tauscher and/or Clifton. Three rookies on the offensive line against a defensive front that includes Jason Taylor, Zach Thomas, Vonnie Holliday, and Kevin Carter? Rough.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 All Brett Favre's fault, somehow, if you ask the experts fitted for safety-helmets.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted October 22, 2006 Also, IT'S FUCKING HOT OUTSIDE. The cold tap water in my apartment is coming out hot. This must be very rough on Wisconsinites. But, at least we're winning time of possession right now. Extremely important in this weather.
