CanadianChris Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Golden opportunity slipped away for the Cards there. They needed to pound Verlander while he was still in the game. I doubt he'll last much past the third inning, if that. I couldn't believe they had enough time to get Belliard. I was expecting to see him already across the bag when the throw got there.
Annabelle Posted October 28, 2006 Author Report Posted October 28, 2006 This is insipid. The Cards have played as well as they have all season. They deserved their wins. they deserved game 4? really? deserved? come on. the cards have played as well as having 83 wins. the lowest amount ever to win a world series. Yes. David Eckstein came up with the clutch hit when his team needed it, and Yadier Molina did the same. but without any of the errors, the opportunities wouldn't have arised to be "clutch".
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 but without any of the errors, the opportunities wouldn't have arised to be "clutch". You say errors as a plural. There was one error that led to two unearned runs. Without those runs, the Cards get to tee off Todd Jones in the ninth.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Leadoff hit, clearly another Tiger mistake.
bob_barron Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Leadoff hit, clearly another Tiger mistake. That's flawed reasoning. Look at the last inning- Tigers made another stupid error

Look at the last inning- Tigers made another stupid error It wasn't a stupid error. If Inge doesn't get Eckstein at first, a run scores. Eckstein advanced to second on the error, but didn't score himself. The error did not cost the Tigers a run.
Bruiser Chong Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 In my mind, I was thinking, "No way he messes this up." Good god.
CanadianChris Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 THAT error certainly cost them a run.
Guest Paul Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 I'm loving that the Tigers Pitchers can only throw the ball to the plate. Verlander has that "Pedro feel" when he's batting.
The Man in Blak Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 And that takes care of The Adventures of Chris Duncan for one night.

I'm loving the guys at the FJM blog just having a coronary at Buck's talk of him winning MVP.
Precious Roy Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 This is disapointing, I'm not ready for baseball to be over yet!
Bored Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 I know his brother pitches for the team but Jered Weaver wearing a bunch of Cardinals gear is...odd. And damn I'd been holding out hope that the A's would beat out the Cardinals to 10 World Championships for the record for most by a team not named the Yankees.
CanadianChris Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Poor Anglesault must be wondering why other players have to leave New York to win pennants and World Series. Weaver's been outstanding.
Bored Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Some mediocre team with a bad GM is going to make Weaver a very rich man this offseason.
bob_barron Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Of all the Cardinal teams, THIS one is about to win a World Series?
Open the Muggy Gate Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 The Tigers got owned by Jeff Weaver. Let me put that into perspective.... YOU WERE FUCKING OWNED BY JEFF WEAVER.
Precious Roy Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Some mediocre team with a bad GM is going to make Weaver a very rich man this offseason. the Orioles say hi!
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Thanks to XM, I've got the Cardinals' radio feed for this. And congrats to the Cardinals for finding a worse left fielder than Greg Luzinski. I never thought it could be done.
Guest Princess Leena Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Of all the Cardinal teams, THIS one is about to win a World Series? It's not surprising. They have Little Gritty David Eckstein. He's just a winner. I now know what Alexander has to do to be popular. Shrink a foot and become a lot less athletic.
Open the Muggy Gate Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 If Eckstein was the shortstop for the Yankees, they would win. *runs*
Guest Paul Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Ha... And thus ends the Detroit Bandwagon 2006.
KingPK Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 So was this Little Scrappy Courage Heart Guts David Eckstein and those other guys stepping up or was it the Tigers just completely shitting the bed? I still can't believe a team that couldn't come close to 90 wins IN THE NATIONAL LEAGUE is about to win the damn Series.
naiwf Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Fuck you Detroit. The agony of the Mets loss stings even more now knowing that we too could have cakewalked to a title we didn't deserve just by showing up. To answer the previous question, Detroit shitted the bed. How do you go 5 games in a row with a pitcher making a fielding error? (I'm assuming the stat I heard on the radio was legit)
Guest Paul Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Detroit simply didn't stay hot enough, long enough. ANY team would have beat them, playing like this.
Guest Smues Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Woo got home from work before the game ended. Now hopefully I got home in time to see the Cards win and not to see them blow it.
Vern Gagne Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 It's official the Twins are the worst playoff team.
KingPK Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Wow, Buck's call was surprisingly low-key there. Congrats St. Louis.
LaParkaMarka Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Wow, Buck's call was surprisingly low-key there. Congrats St. Louis. He barely said anything. He was more excited over regular season games than that.
