It's typically:

 

The guy starts a chat with what he thinks is a girl/boy below 16, usually getting into sex. He sets up a meeting date, the girl/boy asks him to bring something (alcohol, food, etc.) and he walks into the house where they're shooting the show. Hanson talks to him a bit, tells him he's "free to go" and he's arrested outside.

 

I've never seen one where they're chatting with 18 year olds. Most of them are <14.

waht I find amusing is that Chris Hanson is smarmy enough to almost make me sympathize with the pedophile, before I have to remind myself, hey the guy's a pedophile!

I remember one guy flat out denied it was him and bs like that. He stated that he didn't know what he was doing there when he was questioned as to what he was doing there since he wasn't talking on the computer. My other favorite is the Indian guy who said he had a party and someone else must have used his computer. The thing though is that he talked to the girl on more than one time and he even brought a friend. His friend was let go because he never talked about sex over the computer. My other favorite was the guy from the Navy who traveled 5 hours via bus just to get to the house and he immediately took off his shirt.

No dude, that was the VERY NEXT DAY. Fucked up.

This show is classic though. It's disturbing, but really really funny at the same time. Chris Hansen is so awesome when he busts these guys. And I love the ones in Florida where the cops Strike Team the guys coming out of the houses because it's easy to get a concealed weapon permit in Florida.
