WWE 24/7

Recommended Posts

May sounds like it will be good month on 24/7. The theme is "Latino Legends" (so I was close in my assumption about it being Eddie themed). Programming will include the Eddie Raw tribute, When Worlds Collide, and a collection of Shorties hosted by Hugo and Carlos.

"It’s non-stop action as the WWE Spanish Announce Team, Hugo Savinovich and Carlos Cabrera, present classic Lucha Libre contests. Featured matches include Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero, Tiger Mask vs. Jose Estrada, Konnan vs. Psicosis, Super Crazy vs. Mosco de la Merced and many more"

They had a pretty entertaining spotfest at Cyberslam '99, it's probably the same match.

Well since I guess the themed programming is a repeat, do you recall which Eddie/Rey match it is?

I guess this means there is chance come August I'll be seeing the same "Destination 24/7" shorties and so on. However, the flip side of this is unless you're recording every program they air (and I'm not), I have no problems with some reruning - I watch the same WrestleMania's every year and things of that nature. As long as they throw in new WCCW, ECW, MNW, etc. episodes I'm good. I'd like a lot less modern WWE PPVs, though (not counting the 3-4 month delay PPVs, those are cool).

I believe it's the Havoc 97 match, DrV...can't remember for sure.

Like I said, I don't MIND the repeating as long as they air PPVs that are missing from my video library so I can tape them.

Good stuff this month.

* WCW Mayhem 1999

* Boston Garden: August 1988

* New Monday Night Wars, NWA, and Tuesday Night Titans

* Road Warriors vs. Midnight Express (Scaffold Match)

Yeah, that match is bad but Cornette's fall is a classic moment.

Last September, it took my cable company a month to rename the ECW category "ECW-Territories". It didn't matter since the programming was (mostly - missed a NWA show or two) being updated properly.

Fast forward to now - they still have the 6 categories when there should only be 4 so the only thing that got updated was Big Ones (STILL no Armageddon? Weird) and Shorties. I suppose I should notify WWE.com and my cable company of the problem.

I'm not near my digital cable TV and am about to get ready for work, but al posted all the shows I'm aware of (and I do have the WCW PPV and the Boston show so that's good). The buckets should be "Legends" (HOF + Specials), "TV Favorites" (PT + ECW/Territores), Big Ones, and Shorties.

Wait, you have the PPV and the Boston Garden show on yours? I have the Shorties, Legends, and TV Classics menus, but not Big Ones. Wtf?

A lot of my stuff hasn't been updated for some reason, but I do have Mayhem 99 and Boston 88. In the shorties section it's a lot of Cornette stuff, Heyman, JJ Dillon, Fuji, and the mixed tag from WM 14.

In TV Classics they have a new NWA show from Aug. 1985. A new Monday Night War show is also on from 12/30/96.

See, I'm not getting that MNW but I'm getting an old TNT. Hmm, which one would I rather spend my time watching...?

I would suggest anyone (which seems to be all of us) with difficulty receiving all the programs due to the category changes inform both WWE.com (Al posted a link above) and your local cable company. I've found in the past when I was having problems, this helped more often than not (and there was 'not' - they never did correct the missing Legends shows from last fall).

Putting everything together from WWE.com and what people have said, this is what our menus SHOULD look like:

"WWE Legends" (mine still says Hall of Fame and is empty): Captain Lou Albano profile piece and probably 3 matches and "The Stone Cold Truth" DVD feature.

"TV Favorites": Mondy Night War (12/30/96), TNT, NWA show from August.

"Big Ones": WCW Mayhem 99, Boston Gardens 88.

"Shorties": 5 matches involving managers (Cornette, JJ Dillon, Paul Heyman, Mr. Fuji, and Sable).

I watched the preview show last night, apparently some Coliseum Video Sunny special is supposed to be available this month. That will be kind of depressing to watch.

MNW is awesome this week. The wrestling on Raw is sub-standard but the HBK/Bret promo is awesome. As I was watching it I was wondering if it was the one where Sid shows up followed by Taker (which I marked for huge on the original airing) and sure enough it was, so good nostalgia there. The weird part is they come back from commercial for Lawler's entrance, then go back to commercials. I guess the Bret/HBK spot ran long.

Nitro has some good wrestling - Jericho/Benoit and Dean/Mysterio with some Ultimo/Liger thrown in.

The Albano feature is pretty good. I wasn't aware that prior to him and Lauper being pals on camera, he heeled on her bad on Piper's Pit. That was good stuff. His Hall of Fame speech was pretty charismatic as well.

What was the card for the Boston 88 event?

The Non-spoiler version.

Koko B. Ware vs. "Outlaw" Ron Bass

The Hart Foundation vs. The Fabulous Rougeaus

Lanny Poffo vs. D.J. Peterson

Brutus Beefcake vs. The Honky Tonk Man (IC Title Match)

The British Bulldogs vs. Demolition (Non-Title Match)

Randy Savage vs. Ted DiBiase (WWF Title Match)

Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Andre the Giant (Lumberjack Match)

Cawthon's site lists Scott Casey vs. Bad News Brown, but that match does not air on this show.

Savage/DiBiase and Bulldogs/Demolition should be good fun. Harts/Rogeaus might not be too bad either....were the Harts faces at this point? I know this was after WM 4 when Bad News turned on Bret in the battle roayl. Jimmy Hart was probably aligned with the Rogeaus by now right?

Harts were faces. Both tag matches were pretty good, with Harts/Rougeaus being the best match on the show IMO. Jimmy Hart was aligned with the Rougeaus. One note is that at this point, Jimmy Hart was banned from ringside in the Honky Tonk Man's matches. So Honky was accompanied by his valet, a strange woman named Peggy Sue who carried a megaphone and wore a scarf over her face. Beefcake countered with his own valet, an ugly, hairy female named "Georgia."

Savage/DiBiase was very short, never really got going.
