naiwf 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 BREAKING NEWS Denver RB Nash collapses, dies Broncos running back Damien Nash has died after collapsing after a charity basketball game in St. Louis, the team confirms. Courtesy of CBSsportsline.com. That's the second Broncos player born in 1984 to die in the last 2 months. Wow. Also, I'm all for the Giants doing just about anything they have to to get Willis since Brandon Jacobs can't carry the load.

Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 According to ESPN, Jeff Garcia is on the verge of signing with the Broncos That would not be where I would have picked him to go. I figured that he would go to a place where he would be the starter, such as Minnesota.
Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 Man, I feel bad for the Broncos. Two of there players die in a strech of 2 months at the age of 24. To make it worse was that he was doing a chairty event for his brother and he died while doing it.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 according to profootballtalk.com the Redskins already have a deal in place with free agent LB London-Fletcher Baker, but he may not be the only defensive player joining them. Apparently Michael Strahan wants to be a Redskin.

snuffbox 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 That's not a good idea. Why's that? He had a pretty good comeback season...over 1000 yards. If they do end up drafting Marshawn Lynch it would be nice to give him a season to learn backing up Ahman Green. Green's also like 50 yards from the all-time GB yardage mark. Apparently Michael Strahan wants to be a Redskin. That's so Redskin-ish. Fletcher had a great year statistically last year, but that's much due to Buffalo's scheme. Fletcher is on the downside of his career. And Strahan, yeah.

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted February 27, 2007 That's not a good idea. Why's that? He had a pretty good comeback season...over 1000 yards. If they do end up drafting Marshawn Lynch it would be nice to give him a season to learn backing up Ahman Green. Green's also like 50 yards from the all-time GB yardage mark. There are several reasons why. This draft is among the best and deepest, particularly on the offensive side of the ball aside from quarterback, in years. Green singlehandedly fucked up at least a couple games last year with his fumbling. I'm thinking the New Orleans game, and the St. Louis game. Getting over 1000 yards is not an accomplishment, not when the bulk of his yards came against really weak run defenses, and only scored 5 touchdowns rushing. He can't stay on the field anymore because he's always injured, AND he's past 30 now. He's far from the player he was from 2001-2004, when he had 1175/10, 1387/9, 1240/7, a SICK 1883/15 in 2003, and 1163/7. He's obviously on the decline, and with his fumbling issues, coupled with the fact that the team could use a fresh new stud at his position carrying the load inside the red zone where the Packers struggled the most last year, it's just not worth keeping him around. I'm fine with our receiving corps. Ted Ginn would not be an improvement, he would be a waste of a first round pick. If the Packers somehow got Lynch or heaving forbid, Adrian Peterson, they'd be real lucky. Hell, I'd go for Willie McGahee right now, too. That's a good pick, although I'd rather give up players for David Carr and dump Aaron Rodgers. Although, you have a bit of a point in that Green could still be useful in a backup, situational type role. I have a feeling though, that he might be asking for too much and that Green Bay might give him more than he's worth. Speaking of which, Green Bay gave Cullen Jenkins a 4 year extension today. Why? Unless they're planning on dumping KGB, thus shoring up the run defense, I really hope they're looking at improving the middle. History has shown the quick but undersized dudes like Nick Barnett at LB need a big fat guy in front of them to take up space so they can make plays. I don't necessarily agree with developing all the young'uns right now- this is a team that has a limited opportunity in front of them to get to the playoffs and maybe even make some noise with this being Favre's last year and all (no f'n way he plays past this season, impossible). I like Cullen Jenkins, but he, like Kampman, are great run defenders but not particularly great pass rushers, well, until last year Kampman wasn't either. Maybe they'll see Jenkins improve in the same way and Green Bay will have a suddenly awesome defense, but I'm not counting on that.
Guest Oedipus Rex Report post Posted February 27, 2007 It just boggles the mind, though. An 8. Go ahead, try to take the test with the same parameters those guys had. See who's laughing afterwards. What's your point? It's not as if they're all failing to even register as literate. Most quarterbacks have traditionally demonstrated average or above-average intelligence. I don't think I'm out of line in saying you should be able to score higher than 8 on the test. I would like to take this test, though.
Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted February 27, 2007 Hey, Czech uses really obscure words and is really smart.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2007 It wasn't a direct put-down to Czech. I actually took the test before with the same parameters, obviously it's not too difficult to score a 8, but you never know how you do. Athletes, especially football players, aren't going to be rocket scientists. I don't understand this need for football players to score a 30 or better to get any respect from people. I was one of the offenders last year when it came to Vince Young and his "rumored" low score, but he seems to be doing ok. I read an article where you have a lot of occupations scoring on average in the low 20s or high teens. A typical security guard like I used to be, average score was a 21, I believe. Does this mean I'm a better football player than Dan Marino, who as someone mentioned, scored a 15? All that matters really, is if they are able to absorb the FOOTBALL information. And that takes more than just the ability to answer 50 questions in 12 minutes (btw, rarely do a person finish the test. So it's also possible for all we know that Chris Leak only answered 8 questions, stupidly spending too much time on each one). There's a lot of reasons that athletes might get a low score. So I'm no longer going to rip on them for scoring low, because really, like I said again, you think you're better? Take the test. Prove it.
Guest Oedipus Rex Report post Posted February 27, 2007 Okay, I understand the Wonderlic is not the sole arbiter of one's football potential, but scoring in the single digits when you're expected to score not a perfect 50, not a 40, but really just somewhere from 20 to 25, a perfectly acceptable score, might be cause for concern. Do you disagree? Maybe this is indicative of a struggle to digest football information. I do find your challenge for me to ostensibly score higher than an 8 to be kind of strange, though. If I could find a place where the Wonderlic is administered, I would take it. (I tried to get into the combine at Indianapolis, but they turned me away.) I mean, I don't think this is some insurmountable challenge. Having been through batteries of IQ tests as a kid, I don't think I'm gonna shit my pants on a few syllogisms. USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2007 Like I said, it wasn't really a challenge to you specifically. And yes I'd agree that scoring under 10 points (which is the minimum for if you're literate or not) is a cause for concern, but VY supposedly scored a 6 (I don't give a shit if the official score was higher), and he still was able to go like 8-4 or something like that as the starting QB for the Titans. Oh and Czech, you can always find a Wonderlic test online. That's what I did. Scored pretty well too and yeah I don't really doubt that you'll score at least a 20. edit: Thinking about it, I suppose my real point is that only people who can say with confidence that they'd score a lot better than that have room to criticize.
