Guest Vitamin X Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 How quickly people forget Hasselbeck/Alexander.
Open the Muggy Gate Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 FUCK! Thank you Vitamin. I can't believe I forgot them. Seahawks #1, Chargers #2 in that tandem. The Madden Curse is a brutal beast that can't be stopped...
The Niggardly King Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 LT will break the curse next year
Guest Felonies! Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 How quickly people forget Hasselbeck/Alexander. Well to be fair, they've been out for a few weeks, so out of sight, out of mind.
Guest Princess Leena Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Plus, when Alexander was healthy, he didn't have any big games this season. I'd still take LT/Random scrub QB over anyone.
Guest Vitamin X Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Also, Rudi Johnson/Carson Palmer. Dunn/Vick isn't too shabby either, but it depends on the offensive gameplan. But yeah, LT has been football's best player (offensively or defensively) for a couple years now. Not a surprise, and he definitely deserves an MVP over fucking asshole Peyton Manning. That, and because I'd like Favre to remain the NFL's only 3 time MVP.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Check out the AFC Wild Card chase: Right now our division leaders are the Pats, Colts, Ravens, and Chargers. I find it doubtful that any of those are going to change barring a total collapse, aside from maaaaaaaybe San Diego, who plays in the toughest division in football. Here's who is OUT. DONE. Oakland, Cleveland, Houston, Tennessee, and Buffalo. With a complete and total miracle from god, and a complete and total collapse of a couple other contenders, I can see Pittsburgh and Miami having a faint outside chance if they can somehow win out. In the real world, here's who's in the mix for the wildcard. Denver leads, with Jacksonville and Kansas City tied at 6-4. The Bengals have a decent shot at 5-5, and the friggin' JETS are 5-5. Denver has arguably the toughest road @ KC, Seattle, @ San Diego, Cincinnati, and San Francisco. @ Arizona is a gimme. They absolutely HAVE to take care of business at home against two really good teams to lock up a spot in the playoffs. Those divisional road games though, ouch. I think they'll probably split with San Diego (but it's a very losable game), but I'm not so sure they beat KC at Arrowhead. Denver is 7-3..I think they lose to either Cincinnati or Seattle, and KC. So there's two losses. 11-5 at best? Kansas City still has Cleveland and Oakland. Nice spot to have padding on the schedule. Their only killer road game is @ San Diego. They have both Denver and Baltimore at home. Jacksonville goes on the road against Buffalo, Miami, and Tennessee. Not too bad. Buffalo is awful, Miami is hit or miss, and Tennessee finds ways to lose. They DO have New England and Indy at home, which are two of the top three teams in the conference. So what's cool here? Jacksonville and Kansas City face off at Arrowhead the last week of the season in a game that will probably be win+in/lose+out. Talk about a bloodbath. Lets look at New York. They have cupcakes left, which is incredibly fortunate. Houston, Buffalo, and Oakland all at home, and on the road against Minnesota, Miami, and Green Bay. They could quite possibly win 5 of those and get in if KC and Jacksonville can't finish against their tough schedule. The massacre to Jacksonville kills their tiebreaker hopes, though. Pretty incredible for the team I picked to be one of the worst in the league at the start of the season. Cincinnati is the most unlikely candidate to me, with Baltimore, and then Indy and Denver in a row, on the road both times. Ouch. That's three really really tough games to win. They'll beat Cleveland and Oakland. If they win two out of three against the Ravens, Colts, and Broncos, there's Pittsburgh at the end of the season to play spoiler. The Moral of the Story: Watch the fuck out for KC/JAX at week 17. That's basically an extra playoff game.
Guest Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Winner of the KC/Jax game and Denver are going to get in. On an unrelated note, did anyone see/like the suits that Nolan and Del Rio were wearing this week? It was a nice flashback.
HarleyQuinn Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Kansas City/San Diego is also another fun "playoff" type game to keep an eye on in terms of impact. I didn't see Nolan but dug the suit look on Del Rio. I wouldn't mind seeing some coaches bring it back.
naiwf Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 LT/Rivers is the top RB/QB tandem in the league even if the Seahawks are healthy.
Cheech Tremendous Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Kansas City/San Diego is also another fun "playoff" type game to keep an eye on in terms of impact. I didn't see Nolan but dug the suit look on Del Rio. I wouldn't mind seeing some coaches bring it back. The suits are great. Now if we can only get them in some real threads, instead of the "Reebok" designed messes they wore this weekend we will have some progress.
Cheech Tremendous Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 LT/Rivers is the top RB/QB tandem in the league even if the Seahawks are healthy. Maybe, but I doubt it. The gap between Shaun Alexander and LT isn't that large, but Hasselbeck is a much better quarterback than Rivers is at this point. That may change in a couple of years, but you can't compare a guy with ten games under his belt to one of the best QBs in the league.
The Man in Blak Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Kansas City/San Diego is also another fun "playoff" type game to keep an eye on in terms of impact. I didn't see Nolan but dug the suit look on Del Rio. I wouldn't mind seeing some coaches bring it back. Hilariously, I believe they mentioned on MNF that the NFL only allows coaches to wear the suits twice a year. Or was that just a poorly played Kornheiser joke?
The Man in Blak Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Found this on Stats Inc regarding Vick and his incompletions in 2006. Michael Vick: 127 incompletions 10.2% are dropped 34.6% are poor throws 20.5% are passes defended 7.1% are intercepted So, basically, Michael Vick is Eli Manning, trapped inside a running back's body.
Guest Princess Leena Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Call me crazy, but I wouldn't count the Bills as finished yet. 4 of their next 5 are at home. If they could somehow sneak by JAX and SD at home, there's a good possibility of a jobber run to 9-6. Then, the season finale @BAL, which may be meaningless for the Ravens. Losman gave us hope last week... if he can keep it up, the Bills are a tough out.
CanadianChris Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Sorry, Leena, but you lost me at the part where the Bills were beating San Diego.
Just John Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 I wouldn't be too quick to rule out the possibility of Pittsburgh running the table to really screw things up. They are not anywhere near as bad as their record shows. The Baltimore games will be hard as hell, though. If KC gets the job back from Denver on Thanksgiving, then can beat SD who they always play tough, they have a good shot at getting the division. They already have one win over SD, so they could wind up with the head-to-head which will be huge in a division this tight.
Guest Princess Leena Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Sorry, Leena, but you lost me at the part where the Bills were beating San Diego. I concur. That's the tough one. But, even if the Bills win the rest and finish 9-7, there's a slight possibility of getting the 6th spot. They absolutely must beat JAX next week, though.
CanadianChris Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 That's possible. What really hurts the Bills is being in the AFC. 9-7 would have a legitimate shot at winning a wild-card spot, if not one of the divisions, in the NFC.
2GOLD Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Dolphins are another team that isn't dead just yet. The only game of the ones they have left I see them not being able to win is against the Colts since it is in Indy. They can beat the Patriots in Miami since Brady tends to have poor games in Miami. Jacksonville is definately beatable. 10-6 could very well get them into the playoffs but 9-7 is where they might end up finishing. Course, the quarterback is still Joey Harrington.

Could you imagine the media if the Dolphins ended up in the Super Bowl this year after being the sexy pick, and with Joey Fuckin' Harrington at QB??!!
Guest Princess Leena Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 The AFC isn't that strong this year... For the 2 wild cards, 1 is going to come from the AFC West. But, after that, who knows. It's unlikely 3 teams from the West will finish with 10 wins, plus KC loses virtually every tiebreak due to their awful conference record. Then, you've got JAX at 6-4, and a bunch of mediocre teams. Anything can happen here.

I'm pretty sure if Nick Saban can get the Dolphins into the playoffs with Joey Harrington at quarterback that he'll be automatically entered into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as "Greatest coach in the history of the NFL". Cause come on....Joey Harrington.
HarleyQuinn Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 I'd be more impressed if Saban could do it with Andre Ware
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 New question: 1. Can the New York Giants salvage their season, make the playoffs, and at least make a decent effort against the team they play there? 2. Will they?
Guest Felonies! Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Nah, they're fucked. I'm basing this on the observation that things have gotten so ugly there that they've even made Smiley McCuddles over there at running back sound like Keyshawn Johnson.
HarleyQuinn Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 #1/#2: Salvage... no. Plaxico gives a half hearted effort at best, David Tyree and Sinorice Moss are both injured, and Amani Toomer went on IR. Tim Carter and Michael Jennings are operating as their #2/#3's and Eli can't do well with players who realistically are #4/#5s on the depth chart. Eli Manning himself has been playing poorly. His last 4 games in QB Rating... vs. Tennessee: 59.10 (12) vs. Jacksonville: 51.90 (11) vs. Chicago: 28.30 (10) vs. Houston: 76.30 (9) The Giants aren't winning any games if Manning continues to be so poor. His accuracy was solid against poor defenses (Tennessee/Houston) but the O-Coordinator has been limiting him tremendously. His YPA the last 4 games: 5.1, 5.6, 3.8, and 6.4. As for the defense, the following starters are injured: Michael Strahan, Osi Umenyiora, Barry Cofield, Brandon Short, Carlos Emmons, Sam Madison, and Corey Webster. They've also lost LaVar Arrington and Justin Tuck to IR. Their upcoming schedule is brutal too. They'd be lucky to finish out 1-4. vs. Dallas @ Carolina vs. Philadelphia @ New Orleans vs. Washington
Guest Felonies! Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Here's my question: will Mik still have a crush on Eli Manning in spite of this slump? I mean, I think his old sig was Eli Manning riding a mechanical bull.
CanadianChris Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 I was on the "Giants are fucked" bandwagon, until I looked at the standings and realized there'd have to be a pretty bad team that would make the playoffs if the Giants didn't (unless it was Atlanta, but I think they're REALLY fucked). If they go 3-2 in their last 5, they'll almost certainly get in. Even 2-3 gives them a decent shot at 8-8, given that the teams chasing them are 5-6 San Fran, 5-6 St. Louis, 5-6 Atlanta, 5-6 Minnesota, and 5-6 Philadelphia. Their conference record would give them a good chance to win a tiebreaker against any of those teams. As for whether they'll make a good showing in the playoffs...no, I think they'll get beaten up pretty good against any of the division winners.
