UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 No, Brett's one of the top 5 QBs ever. He's just not been good for a while and is majorly washed up. Meanwhile, workhorse Westbrook tries to pull off a miracle all by himself.

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted November 19, 2006 Talk about adding insult to injury. Owch. Favre was not having a good day at all, today. Rodgers looked alright, but the battle was in the trenches, and the Patriots have traditionally been very strong there throughout the Belichick era, so no surprise that we lost, but by how much is disconcerting. I mean, it's not like Green Bay was a serious contender anyways, they're just happy to even try contending for the playoffs, especially with how young the team is and all. Having Tauscher out hurt a lot. We need some defensive line and safety help in the offseason, BIG TIME. All in all, I think we'll be fine post-Favre at the QB position, but they have got to be better in the trenches. I had a feeling back when the Pats played the Vikings that Brady was going to have a good game against us, and while they did well in not turning the ball over, they just didn't do shit against the Pats' front seven. I don't think I even have to dignify randomguy's ignorance with a reply, but I'll at least acknowledge it. Favre's worst years were 1999-2001, when he played with some kind of broken finger or another. His best have been from 1995-1997 (3 MVPs) and again from 2002-2004 (When he had help from Green running the ball) and is having a good year again this year. I don't know how serious his pre-game injury was today (they said it was an injured groin, but you never know with NFL coaches), but he was certainly more off-target than usual today, and I'm glad they had Rodgers play out the rest of the game rather than try to force Favre to win a game they don't really need all that bad anyways, considering it's an inter-conference matchup and they can't hope to catch their division leader in wins. I said it at the start of the year, and it looks so far like I'm right. Green Bay has only about 7-9 wins in them this year. Good enough to beat up on the shitty teams (Arizona, Detroit, Miami) and hang with the average ones (Buffalo, St. Louis, Minnesota, New Orleans, Philly), but far from being a serious contender (Chicago and New England). They'll most likely lose to Seattle next week, especially being since it's at Qwest, and then they might run off a few more wins, but that'll be it for the Pack this year, and hopefully Brett can step aside and let Aaron do his thing. Even if Favre can still go, he should retire by the end of the year even having the TD record, because Rodgers has been waiting a long time and I think he can play, and Brett isn't the next guy to lead this team to a championship in the next few years. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 I dont think Rodgers will pan out. I don't know how anyone can make that determination right now. It's just a guess at this point, since he's gotten next to no playing time since he was drafted.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted November 19, 2006 At any rate, Rodgers will make better, probably smarter throws considering he doesn't have the arm Brett does, and as you may have seen today, he can run around a bit so he's got the athleticism we've been missing at QB for a while. While Favre has played more reined in this year and kept his INT total down (so far he's on pace for a career low, actually), this is the first season I've seen where his accuracy, particularly on deep throws, has been lacking. It's McNabb-esque, only without the running ability and making dumber throws into double coverage. People at the sports bar today kept insinuating that Favre should've kept playing. Why the hell would you want to do that? The best thing Green Bay can do, ESPECIALLY when they're getting blown out big-time at home to a team they probably had no business beating anyways, AND having Favre injured, you couldn't have asked for a better time for Rodgers to come in and get some game experience. randomguy 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 Because Favre is a sentimental favorite and people believe that Favre has some magical powers that will allow him to get out of a 28-0 hole that he helped create by throwing terrible passes all day. And why shouldn't they believe that? The media repeats that every single week. "Down late in a game you couldn't ask for any better than Favre..." etc etc. Really Favre is not bad, the problem is he is terrible compared to his overhyped reputation. As a quaterback he's in the top 30-40% of the league. At this point he certainly is not elite. (Except in the way the Eagles are elite)

NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 Well it's one game, but Jason Campbell looked damn good for taking his first snap(s) for his career. 2 TDs no INTs, 192 yards....not bad for a first start against the Bucs Defense. randomguy 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 Squib kicks are so damn stupid...why willingly give up 20+ yards of field position exactly? Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 Favre is expected to play next week. Whew. Dude has GOT to retire with that streak intact. Sucks to hear about McNabb though. That's two abbreviated seasons in the physical prime of his career in a row. Hey, with the Eagles losing the glue that holds their team together and St. Louis looking more and more like a bloated corpse on the banks of the Missisippi, 4-6 gives the Pack at least some mathematical hope for the playoffs. Ah, the only time I relish in the NFC being a weaker conference. And oh yeah, Atlanta keeps losing. I'll take it!
