dh86 Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 The more I look at these trade proposals, the more I believe the Suns should just keep Shawn this year and deal with the distractions. He cant half ass this season because it can be a contract year for him. Kirilenko would not be happy in Phoenix and start crying about Russia as he is in Utah. The Rasheed trade wont happen, Jamison would be sensible but is a putrid defender and the Suns cant afford anymore defensive liabilities since Kurt Thomas was traded. None of these offers would make the Suns any younger, better contenders for this year or save them money.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 Wolves trade Trenton Hassell to the Mavericks for Greg Buckner. Cavaliers sign Devin Brown Cavaliers trade David Wesley and cash to New Orleans for Cedric Simmons
Guest NYankees Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 So Wesley is going back to the old Hornets. I still remember the car accident that Bobby Phills had about 7 years ago.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 So Wesley is going back to the old Hornets. I still remember the car accident that Bobby Phills had about 7 years ago. Well, reports coming out today, which I thought today, is that once Simmons passes the physical with the Cavs, he is just going to be waived and most likely retire. Talking about returning Hornets, there are rumors starting of PJ Brown going back to the Hornets. That is a move I don't get. You have two top teams in the Suns and Mavs going after him and he is debating to sign up or retire, and now he may go to a sixth seed at absolute best team?
Brett Favre Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 The Knicks trade for Jared Jordan for I think it's cash considerations. They're about to cut Dan Dickau too.
Kurt Angle Mark Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 The Knicks trade for Jared Jordan for I think it's cash considerations. They're about to cut Dan Dickau too. Clippers traded Jordan because they want to sign Dickau when he is cut

LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 Hornets signed three free agents for training, the notable one being Ryan Bowen, other two being undrafted college guys. Wizards did the same (3 training camp signees, two undrafted college kids), the notable one for the Wizards... Tony Massenburg. 40-year-old Tony Massenburg.

Cheech Tremendous Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 So what's next for Isiah Thomas now that he's been found guilty of harrassment? Does Dolan finally fire him? Does the league suspend him? Could be an interesting couple of months in Knickland.
Ripper Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 I wonder what the fuck that jury was smoking. It was she said, a whole bunch of other people said. She said he harrassed her. None of her witnesses actually saw any of it, they just said that she said something. When the prosecution rested, the judge told them they hadn't actually proven anything. The Knicks defense brought up all these people that directly refuted everything she said. Yet they are still going to find Thomas guilty of sexual harrassment for trying to kiss her on the cheek. And honestly, who doesn't Isaiah kiss on the cheek? Crazy. Dolan obviously isn't going to fire Isaiah for this though because he has been so steadfast in their innocence that firing Isaiah would be a implication on himself also.
bobobrazil1984 Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 From what i'm reading on some Knicks boards, it seems like Dolan f'ed up for the timing/way he fired her? that seems to be the difference maker. Isiah himself doesn't have to pay punitive damanges, so it appears the verdict is more aimed at the way the organization handled the complaint.
Ripper Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 They gave her 11 MILLION FUCKING DOLLARS? THere is no way this shitty case stands up in appeal. That is crazy.
bobobrazil1984 Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Its standard operating procedure, the purpose of verdicts is meant as a future deterrent - so the amount of damages is scaled directly to the wealth of the defendant (ie it's meant to be enough to "hurt"). Otherwise why even have a verdict? If the verdict was 1 million, Dolan would probably secretly laugh and nothing would change. If it was a hot dog vendor the verdict would probably be in the thousands of dollars. then you add in the fact that the verdict involves wrongful termination of a job, so the salaries of that job become relevant. I read it was a 275k per year job, extrapolate that to an X number of years, then add in promotions and higher positions that would logically have come down that path, and the salaries involved there. Put together with the wealth of the defendent its not hard to see where they came up with the 11 million. Essentially, "does the defendant deserve to lose that much" ends up taking precedence over "does the accuser deserve to get that much". Not saying that's right, but lets say for the sake of argument, that everything about the environment made by the accuser was true, I think the company deserves to take a hit for it, even if the defendant doesnt deserve that money. on a semi-related note I heard something really funny about Isiah's deposition which cracked me up and may have cost him the case right there, wanna research it a bit before commenting though.
Precious Roy Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 on a semi-related note I heard something really funny about Isiah's deposition which cracked me up and may have cost him the case right there, wanna research it a bit before commenting though. about how it's a-ok for a black man to call a black woman a bitch, but if it was a white man who said it he'd be getting beat down?
Rendclaw Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 All things being equal, Isaiah should have known better. You might get away with that in the locker room, but being an executive, you cannot talk to people like that, because they just might turn around and sue you. I still say lets wait until the appeal.
Ripper Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Isaiah didn't say that it was okay for a black man to call a black woman bitch. He said he finds it more insulting when a white person says it than a black person. Then he said it isn't okay for either to say, jut worse for a white guy. Isaiah not liking white people shouldn't be a shock to anyone. And I understand what people are saying but she had a REALLY shitty case. All the signs pointed to her trying to get money. Thomas talked about the one "I can't get any love" incident (the same incident her only real witness also saw) and Mills told him that wasn't appropriate and he said he never did it again. And noone else ever witnessed anything else between them. And she never reported anything else. Until she couldn't find a job. Plus I find it a little hard to believe that Isaiah was walking around talking like a pimp. "Bitch, I don't give a fuck about these white people!" "Just do what I said, ho!". Especially when, like I said, not ONE other person heard this. ... Okay, I do believe the "I don't give a fuck about these white people" line, but her contention that he would just randomly call her bitch or ho all the time, no one else would ever see or hear any of this, and that she thought it was cool for 5 years just doesn't seem realistic to me.
MrRant Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I think it should come as somewhat a shock that an executive of a NBA team could be considered racist. Either it being against blacks or whites.
Ripper Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Unless said executive is Isaiah Thomas at which point it shouldn't come as a suprise to anyone.
Ripper Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Yeah, but people knew he was racist when he got the job. Its like hiring Jesse Jackson and being shocked when it gets reported that he is a anti-semite. I am pretty sure that James Dolan knew that given the chance, Isaiah would probably punch most white people in the face with a roll of quarters if he got the chance. But then he would flash his smile and it would all be okay.
Broward83 Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Isaiah would probably punch most white people in the face with a roll of quarters if he got the chance. But then he would flash his smile and it would all be okay. *Isaiah walks up to some random white guy* WG: Why hello there, Isaiah. *Isaiah with a roll of quarters in his hand mollywops the hell out of the poor guy* IT: The fuck you talking to like that you god damned blue-eyed honkey ass motha-fucka! You still owe me my forty-fuckin-acres, bitch.. *White guy wipes blood away from mouth* WG: What.. what the fuck are you talking about? *Isaiah flashes a smile* WG: Oh you crazy Isaiah! ============ Somethin like that?
Guest Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I don't care about this sexual harassment business. Does that make me a sexist? I'm not saying the woman deserved it, I just don't care.
Ripper Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I would care if I thought it was real. I just don't think it happened. No I don't think its cool for someone to tell the woman that works for them, "Hey, bitch, what time is the meeting....ho." But i am pretty sure that if that happened, it wouldn't be okay for 5 years. Then a lawsuit.
Guest Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Yeah, same. I probably wouldn't even be mad if I knew it DID happen, though. Not that I think it's cool or anything, it just doesn't matter to me, I guess.
Rendclaw Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Yeah, because it ain't you being degraded. I love how people wait for a long-ass time, THEN sue. If it had happened to me, I would have been on the phone to a lawyer the next fucking day. And considering everything that Isaiah has done to the Knicks franchise already, this is another drop in the bucket. I still say that he has to have some sort of leverage on Dolan that prevents him from being fired. Naked pictures or something, because no one else would suck as an executive this bad for this long THEN on top of it be involved in a sexual harrassment case and still have his job, innocent or not. At some point you have to cut him loose, citing that hes just not worth the trouble anymore.
Guest Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Yeah, because it ain't you being degraded. Yep.

The team made improvements last year, and they are a couple of years away from being under the cap (in theory). The "horrible" job at being an executive done by Isaiah is a over exaggeration. He has given them a young core of players that all were gotten at pretty low draft picks. And I can't think of a single trade he hasn't gotten the best deal out of(okay, the Francis trade, but that was Browns request). He just shouldn't be allowed to sign free agents.
