Ripper Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 You know what I am sick of hearing? "JUST marion and picks for KG?" Really? Marion as the main offensive focus: 21 points, 12 rebounds, 2 steals and 1.7 blocks. KG : 22 points, 13 rebounds, 1 steal, 1.7 blocks. And despite what the dumbass nba talking heads want to say, Marion was doing the same thing before Nash got there. I don't understand why people keep pretending the guy is chopped liver.
Vern Gagne Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 I think the Wolves want someone younger than Marion.
Brett Favre Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Marion would go to Boston. I've heard Jefferson and the 5th, or the 5th and Gerald Green to Minny, and i've even read Gerald Green going to Phoenix. So we'll see I guess.
MFer Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Was it any good? Shaq is a funny guy. It's was pretty good, nothing ground-breaking or anything like that. The kids they had on there were in pretty bad shape. Shaq had some huge jacked up guy helping him out. Towards the end of the show, Shaq found out the kids were cheating on their workouts. So I guess they're gonna turn up the heat now (pun intended).
Ripper Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 The suns held workouts for alot of guys projected to go in the top 10 today, since they are looking to get the Bobcats pick. AND the Celtics brass were there in phoenix to check things out. I think if the Suns manage to get in the top 10, that pick, plus the atlanta one next year along with Marion would make one heck of a package of things to send off.
bob_barron Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Shaq's Big Challenge was hilarious- good stuff
alfdogg Posted June 27, 2007 Author Report Posted June 27, 2007 Latest Garnett rumor has Garnett going to the Suns, Amare going to Atlanta, and Minnesota getting both of the Hawks' lottery picks, plus several "cap friendly contracts" from both teams.
Cheech Tremendous Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 That would be great if the Hawks somehow fell ass backwards into Amare Stoudemire.
Ripper Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Amare and Joe....plus Josh Smith. There would be a brawl by allstar break. But they would be a playoff team automatically. And I would love if Atlanta sent Salim Stoudimire to Phoenix in the deal...just because. While I could see the Suns moving Amare out East so they don't have to see him as much, I don't know if this will happen. I do maintain that trading Amare and keeping Marion would be the best move. They would have one of the best defensive starting 5 in the league (Thomas, Garnett, Marion, Bell, Nash), one of the best rebounding front courts, and wouldn't be losing any real depth.
alfdogg Posted June 27, 2007 Author Report Posted June 27, 2007 I'm guessing Thomas would probably be one of the contracts that went to the Wolves.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 If they couldn't win it all with that line-up, even if they had to swap Thomas out for Diaw in the starting 5, they never will. I love Amare and he could be a superstar till 2015, but if the Suns want to win now, it does make more sense to keep Marion, as he's a more complete player. That team wouldn't be built for more than 2 years as its guys would get older and the strain on the cap would get increasingly absurd, but it's a pretty good risk for a franchise that has never won a title.
Cheech Tremendous Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Phoenix would essentially give themselves a one to two-year window to win it all. At that point, Nash, Marion and Garnett could all conceivable be free agents and the team would be back to square one.
bobobrazil1984 Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Latest Garnett rumor has Garnett going to the Suns, Amare going to Atlanta, and Minnesota getting both of the Hawks' lottery picks, plus several "cap friendly contracts" from both teams. 3 lottery picks in this draft. Minnesota could really parlay that into something good. Well, if they draft well, and knowing what a fool they have in charge, who knows.
Ripper Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 They would still have Diaw and Barbosa to build around. Not huge, but something. Plus seriously. we are talking about a championship here. And there is no reason to think they couldn't pull another 3-4 years out of Marion, Garnett and Nash. none of the three have shown any signs of slightly slowing down as of right now.
PUT THAT DICK IN MY MOUTH! Brett Favre Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 If they have the 3 picks they should take Horford, Noah, and Julian Wright or Jeff Green, whoever drops.
Vern Gagne Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Yahoo sports is reporting the Wolves would receive the #3 and #11. picks plus some player named Zsa Zsa Pachulla and Anthony Johnson.
Cheech Tremendous Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Zaza Pachulia is good. He's one of the Hawks best players.
Ripper Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Zaza is the most damned frustrating players I have ever watched with regularity. First, he is a horrible defender. Like criminally bad. Amare with out the occasional shotblock. But he is a damn good offensive rebounder. Some nights on offense, he is aggressive and can seemingly score at will. The next night he does this fucking thing where he ONLY looks to draw the foul. Now he will drive to the whole 15 times that night but every time will stop, pump fake and try to draw the foul, only to have his shot blocked or for him to miss. If he would play aggressive every game instead of every other game he would be pretty fucking good. Right now he is just good. He is probably the Hawks 4th best overall player, although I loved him coming off the bench behind Solomon Jones late last year.
Cheech Tremendous Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 He just finished his age 22 season. Some of those mental lapses may have to do with inexperience.
Vern Gagne Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Atlanta ownership apparently killed that deal.
cabbageboy Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 I don't get why the Suns are obsessed with trading Marion or Stoudamire. Yeah, Amare made a foolish mistake in leaving the bench, but NBA 1st team is an elite status. If Phoenix can somehow work it to where they can get Garnett and keep Stoudamire then it would be great. Frankly, I fail to see precisely what Garnett adds that is so much better than what they have now. I suppose he's more experienced (and older), but the Suns now have more playoff experience in terms of going deep than he does. I think the Suns just need a bit more depth coming off the bench, but other than that they just need some luck for a change. No more major injuries, no bizarre suspensions. But really it worries me when the Suns start panicking about being oh so close. They were close in 1995 and then traded Majerle to the Cavs. That said, nothing on the table here is nearly as stupid as that trade, since they at least get Garnett instead of Hot Rod Williams.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Why should that matter? According to you, the playoffs doesn't accurately decide the best team.
Cheech Tremendous Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 I don't get why the Suns are obsessed with trading Marion or Stoudamire. Yeah, Amare made a foolish mistake in leaving the bench, but NBA 1st team is an elite status. It's been stated ad nauseum that Phoenix does not want to pay the luxury tax into perpituity. Since Marion and Stoudemire both have max deals, it makes sense that they would move one of them to clear up the books a bit. I don't think there are any teams that can flat out absorb the contract, but they probably want to move one of those guys for someone on short term money. Now, swapping Stoudamire for Garnett does nothing to alleviate their luxury tax problem. But if you can get Garnett you do it every time. They are very close to championship calibur and an elite player may push them over the top. It's a gamble they need take.
alfdogg Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 Watching ESPNNEWS earlier, Jim Grey was on, and said that Steve Kerr told him the three-way with the Hawks had not been discussed at all. He (Kerr) said that he had just gotten off the phone with the Hawks, but it was about something other than that proposed trade (didn't say what).
Mr. S£im Citrus Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Not that there was a whole lot of DRAWMUH~! involved, since the only team that's really affected is Seattle, but this whole thing where Pritchard wanted to create the appearance of doing due dilligence has been patently absurd; he knew he was going to take Oden since the lottery.
Guest Vitamin X Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 I agree, I alluded to the same thing in the NBA Draft thread. I think it was maybe an attempt to affect Seattle's draft plans considering that they are a divisional as well as natural regional rival. Happy to know they're making the right choice with Oden. Kid needs to bulk up a bit, though.

I suppose he's more experienced (and older), but the Suns now have more playoff experience in terms of going deep than he does. He is a better defender, shooter, rebounder, and has a better back to the basket game than Amare. Plus Amare takes ALOT of plays off, something Garnett doesn't do. So basically he does everything Amare does better than Amare, plus he can defend and consistantly rebound well.
Brett Favre Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Rumors from Yahoo: • The New Jersey Nets delivered a proposal of Richard Jefferson, Nenad Krstic and Jason Collins to the Pacers for Jermaine O'Neal, multiple league sources said Thursday. Krstic is rehabilitating a torn ACL suffered early last season, but is expected to be back for the start of the season. There isn't any draft day urgency to the deal because no picks are involved, so if the scenario does advance, sources expect it would not happen until July. • The Portland Trail Blazers and New York Knicks have had serious discussions about a trade that would send Zach Randolph and Martell Webster to the Knicks for Steve Francis and Channing Frye. Other parts have been included in proposals, but all combinations include Randolph. • The Washington Wizards are believed to be eying Italian guard Marco Belinelli with the 16th pick. • Sean Williams, the troubled Boston College center, is expected to be the Nets' choice at No. 17.
Bored Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Mark Cuban is suing Don Nelson for knowing too much about the Mavericks. No, really.
