bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2006 Anybody else amazed at how well Yao Ming speaks English now? And how the hell are the Spurs losing to the Rockets at halftime 53-36? Speaking of Yao's English... looks like he's finally developing the mean streak everybody's clamboring for.
Just John 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2006 It's so nice to see the Rockets play for 4 full quarters. Furthers my belief that if the team can play for 48 minutes, they can hang with anyone. Completely dominating performance against an elite team. Yao got off early, the bench actually provided some relief, the team defense was sharp... Everything seemed to click. Bonzi Wells totally needs more playing time. He can create his own shots and brings energy. Van Gundy needs to put his stupid grudges aside and do what's best for the team. Hopefully the non-Yao players can pick up some confidence with this win and continue to play well without T-Mac.
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2006 Well to be honest Bonzi was sucking wind after some extended time on the court. I think Van Gundy will give him more time as he gets in better shape. He can be the second scorer the Rockets need since they're without McGrady (again) for God knows how long. The only problem is he's best on the post up, which is Yao's domain. He'll either have to knock down the jumper on a consistent basis or be "the man" when Yao gets some rest. naiwf 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2006 I just remembered why I can't watch the NBA when in the span of a few minutes Nash berates a ref the entire length of the court and doesn't get a tech, but a Wizard touches a ball as it bounced through the hoop and got a delay of game tech even though he didn't delay the game or anything as the Suns weren't in position to inbound. Stern needs to come up with a way for close games to be decided by the players. Amare also got away with a huge chickenwing on the baseline right in front of an official but if they won't call obvious shit, they certainly won't call that one. Don't forget D'Antoni walking right onto the court and complaining after every score by the Wizards. I should point out that I don't hate the Suns in general, but they can really get whiny at times, tonight being one of those instances.

Guest Report post Posted December 23, 2006 I knew this would happen tonight. Oh, good win by the Lakers, but from a Nets perspective, it looks like they're going to be without Nenad Krstic for a long time. He fucked his knee up.

I was shaking my head at this as well, but I'm not surprised in the least. Just to wait til the playoffs when this rule becomes even more selectively enforced. Tonight, though, it was good to see the Wizards overcome some rough calls and non-calls and get the win. Gilbert Arenas was amazing, but Caron Butler really stepped up as well, especially in OT. Outside of the late 4th officiatiing, this was a really fun game to watch.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2006 I think that we have all seen that while Jordan was one of if not the greatest player of all time, he is a HORRIBLE executive. H learned that lesson with the Wizards, and I think he is better suited being one of the faces of the Bobcats. Because you can play like nobody's business does not mean that it would translate to either the coaching or management levels. After the way Reinsdorf and Krause ran all the players off (thinking somehow it was THEM who were the catalyst for the Bulls' successes), there was no way in hell that Jordan was going to take an office job with the Bulls. I'm quite happy with John Paxson as the GM, but I wish Jordan had some ownership of the Bulls. Less Reinsdorf. I wouldn;t mind it myself, but nope.... Caron Butler is going to be the key to the Wizards' successes. Gilbert is going to be Gilbert pretty much every night, and they need a second scorer to keep defenses honest. Though if Gilbert keep throwing it in from the opposite baseline, that might not be necessary. Speaking of Gilbert, I notice no one said anything when Kobe ran him down after Gilbert dropped 60 on the Lakers. Its open to interpretation, but it sounded like player hating to me... Kobe is the last person in the world to say anything about another player's shot selection considering his own past history. Glass houses and all that. Guest Report post Posted December 23, 2006 Just a little note... New York Post - Sixers president and GM Billy King will brainstorm with 'consigliore' Larry Brown to reroute Andre Miller to a playoff contender. The thinking is that it would be to move the point guard a half season early than a half season late. The longer Miller remains with a loser, the less productive and motivated (as his one-year Clippers' tour attests, though it's not necessarily reflected in his stats) is bound to become. I think he's a perfect fit for the triangle, and thus, I'd like to see the Lakers acquire him.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2006 Yeah, that's definitely just sour grapes on Kobe's part. Even Bill Walton railed on him tonight for saying that, I thought that was funny.

naiwf 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2006 You tip your hat and say, 'See you next time.' First of all, he shot 27 free throws. We as a team shot 30. Think about that. But him individually, it's funny. He doesn't seem to have much of a conscience. I really don't think he does. Some of the shots he took tonight, you miss those, and they're just terrible shots. Awful. You make them and they're unbelievable shots. I don't get a chance to play him much, so I haven't gotten used to that mentality of just chucking it up there. He made some big ones, but I'll be ready next time. Yeah, that's really KOBE BRYANT criticizing someone's shot selection.

naiwf 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2006 The Lakers lost to the Wizards in OT earlier this week when Arenas dropped 60 on 'em and Kobe couldn't handle that his 45 points wasn't good enough so he made some snide remarks about Gilbert's shot selection. They did beat the Nets last night, but Rendclaw brought up the comments about Arenas after last night's game, so that might be where your confusion lies. Ripper 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2006 Didn't Nash and D'Antoni recieve the only tecnicals of the game? They both got techs. Suns got sympathy calls last night because of their fucked up situation but bad calls none the less, but the Wiz were on it and thats all it is too it. So Gilbert needs 48 in his next game to fullfill his promise to drop 100 points on the suns this year.

Gert T 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2006 I really think the refs were not blantantly biased towards the Suns last night, Haywood was like a wrecking ball down low in the first half, and D'Antoni got the T, because the refs let Antawn Jamison go over the back which led to Caron Butler "outhustling the Suns" as my man Bill Walton pointed out. Just a great game all around last night. The arguing with the refs rule is going to be selective, there was no way Nash was going to get his second T last night, and I bet no ref has the balls to T up a superstar if he already has one in any game. The Gilbert Revenge Factor was an interesting storyline that I didn't know about until last night, although if you look at his stat line; 54 points, 0 assists makes me understand why he didn't make the US team, we already had enough guys who can do that. chaosrage 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2006 Man, all Bell had to do was make one of his 8 attempted 3 pointers and they would have had it. If Nash got his second T for arguing with the ref, I would probably have turned the game off and never watched NBA again. Close games should never be decided by refs calling baby shit and getting the top star on one of the teams ejected. No one wants to see that.

But it was OK to give Phoenix a free throw with 1:04 left in regulation of a 1 point game because a Wizard touched the ball as it went through the hoop? No one wants to see that either, but it still happened.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted December 24, 2006 The Hawks are getting killed by the Pistons right now, 85-62. Marvin Williams can sky, I'll give him that. EDIT: 108-77... And Jason Maxiell reminds me of Karl Malone when he first came into the league, wanting to dunk the ball every time he touched it... what a performance tonight. Mad Max is fucking awesome, he might be my favorite player right now period. Kenny Smith compared him to a young Barkley on tnt the other night. Love his spirit, and I really think he deserves some credit for how the Pistons are playing, I like that they all seem to be getting a little more physical and picking up the lack of ben slack. Max just attacks the basket fearlessly, no matter who is there. I'd love to see him in the game sometime when Shaq is playing just to see what he'll do. Hell he'd probably get knocked back on his ass but I bet he tries it anyways. I see more tough scrappiness from this kid than i saw all last season from the team. If this guy plays under 15-20 minutes in any game from now on, I will personally bust Flip Saunders' kneecaps. The past, I think, four games, he's been outstanding. edit: Yao left his game with an injury, that's a scary moment. He is finally putting up BEAST numbers, seems to have gotten a bit of a cutthroat attitude going, and then he goes down? they're saying its a bruised knee and nothing too serious. I hope not, i like Yao and I want him to have one full monster season, just cuz i think he takes too much unwarranted slack.
