UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2006 On WCW Saturday Night, "Ravishing" Rick Rude beat the hell out of Ricky Steamboat after Steamboat slapped Rude's manager/kayfabe bang-buddy Madusa, who was interfering in one of his matches. Eddies promo the next week was even better. "Today I have your pride (mask?), at Judgment Day, ILL HAVE YOUR LIFE!!!!!!!" (kinda erie in retrospective huh?) BruiserKC 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2006 I'm going to go oldschool here for some classic beatdowns. I remember in WCCW in '88 when Michael Hayes returned and the Freebirds wanted to come back together, but Michael said he refused to work with the Angel of Death. Later, Buddy Roberts, Terry Gordy, and the Angel jumped Hayes as he was performing in a live concert for the fans in the Sportatorium in Dallas. Ole and Arn Anderson beating the hell out of Manny Fernandez when they first started working together. Ole's former tag partner Thunderbolt Patterson comes to the rescue...the Andersons leave the ring, then come back and whip on T-bolt. A Four Horsemen beatdown on Ronnie Garvin...what made it entertaining was watching Garvin bounce around the ring taking on all four members of the Horsemen. Bobbing and weaving, knocking them down before they overpowered "The Hands of Stone."
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2006 Not really a beatdown, but it was funny as hell watching Big Show swing Rey Mysterio in the stretcher like a baseball bat into the ringpost at Backlash a couple years ago. Judgment Day. Nope, it was Backlash
Drury37 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2007 Maybe because I was young, but in 1992 when Sid Justice used to just destroy people on a weekly basis. He took that one guy who was on a stretcher and threw the stretcher, with him still on it, down the aisle and into the ring post and started screaming "I love it, I love it" and then he broke Virgil's nose. Another one from around the same time was Nailz beat down on the Big Bossman the first time we ever saw Nailz. Thanks.
Special K 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2007 The Mike Awesome/Spike Dudley match is the only match I've watched live where I was genuinely scared for someone. It was basically every single nasty variation of the awesome bomb for 10 minutes. Fujinami/Maeda is a brutal, brutal shitkicking. Made nastier by the fact that the match had to legitimately be ended since Maeda spin-kicked Fujinami so frakkin' hard that he pulled a Muta gusher, without the blade. Shane Mcmahon getting destroyed by Angle. Suplex headrop on concrete. Suplex headrop on concrete. Suplex through glass. Then, out of frustration he just whips him head-first through the glass. I have no idea why Shane took beatings like that. And honorable mention goes to Rick Rude destroying Lawler's car with a baseball bat. Mid-match, Lawler's of course in control. And then Rude, in full view of Lawler, audience and camera taunts Lawler and just destroys his car with a baseball bat. Man, I wish I still had that tape.
