HHH tore his quad tonight

Recommended Posts

He's not really wrong but it's a obvious cheap shot at Triple H. If Benoit seriously hurt himself and keep working another 5 minutes he would be jerking off on his keyboard over Benoit's toughness.

How is it a cheap shot? If Benoit had torn a muscle and was throwing suplexes, Keller, and everyone else, would be on him for doing dangerous moves while not being in a position to best protect his opponent.

I didn't see the match, but it's hard to fault any wrestler for finishing a match. I'm sure Triple H was careful not to hurt anyone else. Say what you want, but I've never heard of him taking liberties with opponents or being anything but careful with people in the ring.

Benoit admitted he was working with a bad neck for a while in 2001 and he took time off for old nagging injuries this year. I don't recall anyone jumping on him for not taking time off sooner.

Benoit wasn't lifting or throwing people while only being able to stand on one leg. It's a lot harder to keep a firm base for such moves when one of your legs is useless.

He was lifting and throwing guys around with a bad neck though. Same goes for Angle. You tend to lose power and feeling all together in your hands, arms and legs with nerve damage in the neck. That sounds a lot more dangerous then Triple H's leg injuries.

Again, I didn't see the match...what did Triple H actually do after the injury occured? Was he actually suplexing Orton and Edge around, etc?

I'm not sure what he did right after the injury but he did pedigree Edge on the announcers table, which didn't break, which probably hurt Triple H a lot more then Edge.

Hunter did, putting other body parts and his opponents at risk of injury as he finished the match.

Keller's an asshole. Triple H showed toughness and professionalism by finishing those matches.

I disagree. I didn't see the match, but I know HHH did a pedigree. What if HHH's leg goes out and he drops his opponent awkwardly.

I've never agreed with that wrestling mentality of how you always finish the match, no matter what.

I think this injury may be worse than the first quad injury because this time around, when he comes back, he'll be working on two surgically repaired quads. If anyone around here plays TEW, I would say that he would have his leg condition at, at least, a C-.

They did a pedigree spot in the ring where his leg gave out and he basically fell on top of Edge...it also made Orton look like a dumbass because HHH was suppose to wait for his chair shot and he just fell so uh yea. The announce table thing also happened.......

From PWInsider:

A MRI conducted on HHH this afternoon confirmed he has torn one of the quadriceps in his right leg. He will undergo surgery tomorrow under Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama and is expected to be out 4-6 months.

HHH suffered the injury last night while executing a spinebuster on Randy Orton during the New Year's Revolution PPV. As sad irony has it, the injury occured five years to the day of his return to WWE television after injuring and rehabilitating a tear of the quadriceps on his left leg.

Based on the estimated time of recovery and rehabilitation, it would appear World Wrestling Entertainment, in a worst case scenario, would target Summerslam for a possible return.

Obviously, HHH will miss the biggest show of the year, Wrestlemania 23 in Detroit, the first Wrestlemania he will miss in-ring duty for since his debut for the company in 1996.

I'd say he returns to TV before SummerSlam, and he makes his in-ring return on that PPV.

Something else to consider is how Hunter's rehab goes. If he pushes himself too hard, especially with alread weakened muscles, Hunter might wind up doing even more damage.

Don't worry he'll just come back gassed to the gills on roids and horse pills again.

A third year without a HHH title run, who would have guessed ?

Will he still be able to go at the same pace when he'll return ? This is a man who tored both of his quadriceps and will be pushing 40 years old. When he came back in 2002, everyone thought he was a shell of his former self compared to his '99-'01 run. How bad could he be this time ? He better take all the time he needs to heal because wrestlers' bodies don't get better as time goes by.

I would think Hunter will take more time off this time. Last time he had an incentive to hurry, namely main eventing a stadium show. He doesn't have that looming this time.

Precisely. I think the fact he knows he has a child now and has that important role as a creative exec and that he isn't playing for the top spot and learning that rushing didn't help him the last time, he'll do the smart thing.

I don't think anyone mentioned this but this time he tore a Quad tendon and not the muscle itself like the first time. The first time he tore the muscle and it rolled up his leg, this time it's a tendon like what Vince did on his botched slide into the ring. HHH will probably be walking around fine by mania...I doubt he could wrestle but he'll find some way to get on the show.

This injury is worse than the first. Not the extent of the damage, but like someone already said, he's aready torn the other one, and he's much older now, his body is strarting to break now at a much quicker pace than before. Didn't he have an ACL repair in the late 90's?

I think it was a broken kneecap. But it still remains true that this isn't Hunter's first injury related to having too much muscle for his frame, and while that remains the case he'll remain a candidate for this kind of injury. His chances also are not helped by physical wear and tear and how prone he becomes to muscle and tendon tears.

Anyone who's done as much gas as Triple H has is going to be prone to all sorts of things tearing, he's very fragile due to the gas.

I was at the show, and while I can't say I'm glad to see HHH gone for 6 months if he was planning to take back the belt at Mania, I will say he was incredibly careful in the little he did after the injury last night. For Edge or Orton to have been hurt by the pedigrees, they would have had to have somehow caused it themselves....they literally had the do th emove on themselves. As for the spinebuster on Edge, it was in such quick succession after the Orton one that I guarantee he did it on instinct.

Having said that, to repeat last year's main event at Mania would be idiotic, and Cena needs to be the long-term champ for a lot longer (though that doesn't mean he can't lose it short term only to win it back)....that man was insanely over last night, and I saw far more Cena shirts on people than any other merch.

We can't say for sure that this injury has anything to do with his past usage of steroids. He looks to have been off 'roids for some time now. The injury looked like a freak accident to me.

I was there also........it was funny to be one of the few people cheering for heels.
