Wrestlefreak 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Smackdown Preview Beat the Clock: Week Two General Manager Theodore Long stunned everyone when he announced plans for the first-ever Beat the Clock SmackDown Sprint. What he didn’t tell everybody was that the landmark event would be held over the course of two weeks. That bombshell was revealed from Long, much to the dismay of current Beat the Clock pace-setter Mr. Kennedy. Long didn’t announce any of the matches, but did reveal four of week two’s participants. Those four men are Finlay, MVP, Matt Hardy and Undertaker. Will one of those men beat Mr. Kennedy’s time? Or will someone else emerge from the pack and sprint past Kennedy to the Royal Rumble? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Great show tonight! It just proves that Smackdown is still the best brand!
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Matt vs Finlay could be good, but I don't like that this year's Clock rules end the match in a draw. It seems to me when they did this before NYR 05, the match kept going regardless. I also seem to recall that before NYR 06, the rules weren't very clear as Masters just walked away when he didn't beat someone's time and Chavo was announced the winner by count-out. haVoc 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Matt Hardy is really underrated. He always looks like he's working stiff/snug. Maybe he is, buy I've never heard of anyone complaining about him in the ring.

Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Boy, judging by his waistline, Michael "P.S." Hayes has gone from "Purely Sexy" to "Purchasing Sundaes".
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Why did they ever decide to resign Tatanka in the first place?
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Well this is a rematch we needed. However, it's still a wrestling match on a wrestling show, and that sort of crazy booking (this would be the second match within 18 minutes) is ok in my book.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 I marked for the Carl DeMarco reference.
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 So is this chick going to be La Rez's new manager or something? Or are they just playing up her "international"ness?
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Hey, who's the short guy with both the belts in this Wrestlemania recall? Oh right, he was Stephanie's manservant.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 It's no wonder that Smackdown is just about up to the same number of viewers as RAW. What is this, three or four matches in the first hour with one of them going about 20+ minutes? Wrestling wrapped up in wrestling related storylines having to do with trying to make it to titles. Is that really so hard to book?
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Its pretty crazy how Smackdown is watched almost as much as Raw despite the 2nd rate talent roster, crappy time slot and never live.
trackc53 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 haha 2nd rate talent roster..ya..this show needs more Randy Ortons
haVoc 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 I'm not sure how ratings break down, but doesn't Raw reach more homes then Smackdown so even though the ratings are close a lot more people watch Raw?
Downhome 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 If only they'd take the belt off of Batista. Then it would be an even better show. Look what RAW does, then look what SD does. The ratings for one show goes down, the other goes down. Hmmm...
Mecca 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 I'm not sure how ratings break down, but doesn't Raw reach more homes then Smackdown so even though the ratings are close a lot more people watch Raw? it's the other way around actually........Smackdown non cable-Raw cable so there are still some people without cable. Downhome 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Didn't SD get a new head booker around the time the show started to improve? I want to say Hayes, but I'm not sure.

So you're telling me wrestlings success still lays in the hands of rednecks who won't get cable because they don't understand the value of the two in one package? Downhome 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 I guess the bad news coming out of this show tonight is that they planted the first seeds of Batista/Taker at Mania. Ugh. I'm all for Taker having an important match, but damnit he better not job to Batista. I guess Umaga and Ken Kennedy is the Mark Henry/Bob Holly of this year's Royal Rumble. Aero 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Having not read the spoilers this week, the Miz was actually a surprise. I couldn't think of a single credible person. JBL's reaction to the entire thing was gold though.

JBL's reaction to the entire thing was gold though. I agree, I didnt see the spoilers and I was half expecting someone on the level of Benoit or Kennedy (obviously wasn't either, but that was my train of thought) and yes, Layfields reaction was awesome. MFer 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 This was the first time I've watched most of Smackdown in awhile. Maybe I should make an effort to see it more often. I wasn't really watching SD a lot last year, so I didn't see too much of Kennedy. I'm pretty impressed by this guy. One thing that I like is that he's a heel with credibility. You saw how he beat six former World Champions and how the announcers acknowledge it. One thing that irks me about WWE is when heels, especially ones that are mid-card or higher, have no credibility. A couple years ago, guys like Jericho and Christian(and to a lesser degree, the Spirit Squad last year) were in a position to establish themselves. But instead they end up getting buried by guys like Triple H and then no one can take them seriously. They rarely, if ever, beat anyone of consequence and have to settle for their spot in the mid-card. Anyways, Smackdown appears to be of higher quality than RAW right now. The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Wow, Tatanka and Yang have had two fun, surprising matches... I don't mind Tatanka if he keeps this up.
Wrestlefreak 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Benoit/Kennedy was a great match. One of the things that makes Smackdown so good is that the bookers give matches enough time to develop. I also liked the tag match. I would LOVE to see Regal and Taylor win the titles.
