Do your homework instead of just throwing out names, guys. I feel like I'm turning into the Alkeiper/Bored of football here. ESPN did their homework, though. I'm surprised they didn't simply throw in Kerry Collins, Chris Chandler, anyone recent... I'd also argue that Ferragamo was worse than Woodley. Ferragamo did start more, but other than that 1980 season, he was HORRIBLE. Part of that may be Bills' bias since that one season he had in Buffalo was like the worst ever.

Of course, then they decide to put THREE guys in the SportsNation poll that aren't even mentioned in said article. That's just sloppy work. snuffbox Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Tarkenton & Jim Kelly managed to stink up multiple Super Bowls. 7 total and they were consistently horrible. They're the worst ever probably, and I really doubt Rex Grossman can get below them in just one appearance.

NFL Analyst: (paraphrased) No. Absolutely not. You can't blow this out of proportion when the quarterback is this bad... (blabbers)... if the Bears could even get a mediocre game out of Rex Grossman, they could probably win. I just don't think that's possibility.

Maybe it's because he has the word "Gross" in his name, and his first name is something you'd be more akin to naming a terrier after, not a Super Bowl quarterback. He's an average quarterback, he's no Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, but he's good enough, especially after some more experience. He's not any worse than Roethlisberger, and this Bears team is a lot better than last year's Steelers.

They get there little media packet and regurgitate whatever they read in there. The book says Rex is awful and so that's the story they beat into the ground. There is little actual thought going into this analysis.

Obviously the talking tv heads are the braindead farts following orders. In fact, I'm not sure who it was but one of the ESPN Radio guys ripped on Manning saying that his stats aren't going to win him this game.

I'm sure Ross the Intern is getting all excited to film another *ahem* "comedy" bit for The Tonight Show and the punters are anxiously awaiting being interviewed by Ukranian TV. They should just turn those little booths they use into dunk tanks and only the reporters that can hit the target are allowed to ask the questions.

KingPK Posted January 30, 2007 Author Report Posted January 30, 2007 So who has the most pressure on them in this game? Grossman's out, since everyone's expecting him to suck anyway. Manning's the obvious choice, but that's too easy. I'm gonna go with the Colts defense, Dwight Freeney and the rest of the front four in particular. Grossman likes the long ball and the Colt secondary is probably the weakest part of their D, so if the front line can't get to him, he may be able to connect with a couple of long strikes. They won't really have a speed advantage on the grass (and there's a chance of rain in Miami on Sunday), so the Bears may also be able to get some runs off as well. I'm gravitating towards picking Chicago at this point (If I was betting, I'd take the 7 points easily right now).

You look at a guy like TO, with all the crap he pulls, he's had pretty good playoff performances including playing on a broken leg. Harrison needs to have a good game.

naiwf Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 Yeah because a guy who makes 6 solo tackles a game, averages 4.5 sacks and 1.5 INTs per season and has never scored a TD is really a force to be reckoned with. Statistically, Urlacher's probably the most overrated player in the NFL.

If he becomes #2, he will be FAAAAR behind Rice due to the fact that he only has two postseason TD receptions and always seems to shrink from the spotlight in big games (he didn't exactly do much in the title game).
