Both the special and the Thursday head-to-head will be VERY interesting....

This is really cool. But they better advertise this bad boy like crazy. I hope they show the cage match between LAX and Styles & Daniels. That was ridiculous. I can't imagine which King Of The Mountain match they will show. All of them have been horrible.

Let's see...if they wanna show of TNA's Unique-ness...they should have at least One Ultimate X match (perferably one with the belt, as the ones with the dangling X always have screw-ups).

The LAX/Styles & Daniels 6 Sides of Steel match is good too.

Most likely at least one World Title match.

If they're showing a Six Sides Of Steel, it should either be AMW vs. XXX, or Styles vs. Abyss. I have a feeling though that it's going to be Christian vs. Abyss from last year, since both are in the main event scene (and have a recent issue).

For Ultimate X, it's gotta be the Sabin/Williams/Styles one, but I think it'll be the Joe/Daniels/Styles one.

KoTM - I see them showing KoTM 2 from last year.

Six Sides - It'll either be AMW/XXX or Styles/Abyss. It's gotta be one of those two.

Ultimate X - How about Styles-Daniels/LAX?

Add in one of the Joe/Angle II and the Jarrett/AMW vs. Rhino/3D 6 man from Genesis 2005 and you've got a show.

They should show Styles vs Joe from Turning Point '05

Or the classic three-way

A match that ends clean with no semblance of a run-in, ref bump or swerve with one guy actually winning decisively?

I agree with Zach Mailibu on the choices of Six Sides of Steel and UX

I can't imagine which King Of The Mountain match they will show. All of them have been horrible.

Disagree, the one where Raven won was awesome. Because Raven won.

I'd say:

Six Sides - AJ vs Abyss

UX - either Sabin/Williams/Styles or LAX/AJ & Daniels

KOTM - the second one since its the only one that didn't end with Jarrett going over

one of the AJ/Joe/Daniels three-ways

and maybe one of the x-division battle royals from when the X-D mattered

To follow on:

WWE RAW and TNA iMPACT will be running head-to-head that same week.

With RAW preempted due to the USA Network’s coverage of the Westminster Dog Show on February 12, that week’s edition of RAW will air on Thursday, February 15 at 8-10pm, with TNA iMPACT going out in its normal 9-10pm timeslot that night.

Both shows will also replay on Saturday, February 17, with both RAW and iMPACT airing from 11pm on their respective TV networks.

Now they need to start buying ad blocks on local affiliates that normally air Raw. They can't just assume that Raw fans will automatically know to tune into Spike TV on the 12th.

They can and they will. I wouldn't be surprised if they assume fans tuning into USA and not seeing Raw will tune into Spike, simply because they used to have wrestling and want to see if they still have it. TNA haven't exactly done their best when it comes to getting the word out about anything they do.

Why would they show AMW vs XXX when Elix Skipper isn't even a featured star in TNA? Isn't the point of the special to showcase who is being pushed or at least VISIBLE on TNA NOW?

Yeah, they raely show any early footage from their time in Tennessee, which is sad but you gotta move on. This will be loaded with their gimmick matches, but just another step closer to the Big Time.

I was referring to the Six Sides Of Steel Match they had, not the original.

As far as "visible stars" are concerned, three of the four are still highly visible. They could easily show that match and talk about how AMW went from TNA's franchise team only to break up, and now Harris might be out of wrestling thanks to his "good friend" (in storyl;ine terms). It's not like I suggested they show a match between Kid Kash and Jorge Estrada.

Don't get me wrong. I knew you were referring to that match where Triple X had to break up if they lost, and was highlighted by Skipper's cagewalk rana. I still think they'd pick something a bit more... current. Styles vs Abyss would be a very fine choice.

So they won't show any matches from the days of the traditional ring?

Probably not because they never had the traditional ring in Orlando. Ever since the first Impact on FSN, they've used the 6 sided ring, and I don't think they'll want to put the Nashville Fairgrounds on Spike TV.

Also the traditional ring is no longer a selling point for TNA. Why showcase something then say "Well now we have SIX SIDED RINGS!"? I'd say they're better off forgetting everything that happened pre-FSN.

Forgetting is a bit harsh... I wish TNA would use their video library more as there's some good stuff from the Nashville era, even the small 6-sided ring Nashville Era, that I want to see again. But for this special, stick to anything that happened after iMPACT, yes.

I'm sure there will come a time where TNA will market the old footage. They're trying to gain an identity with the mainstream right now, and they don't want to confuse new fans, or even potential new sponsors and people of the like, so that's why it's all "Spike TV/6 Sided Ring era" that they're worried about. Not to mention how much talent has come and gone since those days. With WWE gobbling up so many of the libraries, even to see some of the older TNA PPV's released in some way 5 years from now would be a breath of fresh air.

One thing they do somewhat already (most notably with the Jarrett/Hogan deal) is utilize the older footage of stars appearing. WCW used this tactic during the Monday Night Wars, showing Vader getting pinned by Sting, Hogan, etc. when he was headlining against Michaels. If, say, Monty Brown becomes WWE World Champion in the next year, I'm sure they'll show footage of Christian Cage pinning him.

This is the thing that most frustrates me about TNA, moreso than even Vince Russo. TNA is just sooo bad when it comes to promoting itself. They really should have been buying ads on local commercial airtime during ECW after the Angle jump, or blocks during Raw. It amazes that someone like myself who has never worked in advertising and never took an ads class in college would know more than people in charge of a company trying to go national.

They've got a commercial on their website that soooooooo needs to run as much as possible during Raw. It ends with Abyss choking a dog.

From Mike Johnson:

The lineup for this Monday's "This is TNA!" special on SpikeTV at 9 PM Eastern will be:

*NWA champion Christian Cage vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. Abyss vs. Sting vs. Ron Killings- King of the Mountain (Slammiversary 2006)

*NWA Tag Team champions AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels vs. LAX- Six Sides of Steel (Bound for Glory 2006)

*NWA champion Jeff Jarrett vs. Sting with Kurt Angle as the official Enforcer (Bound for Glory 2006)

*Two additional matches from PPV (no confirmation on what they are yet).

*A countdown of TNA's "Greatest Moments"

Talent advertised for the special are Kurt Angle, Sting, Christian Cage, Jeff Jarrett, Abyss, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe and Chris Sabin.

The Jarrett/Sting match is a questionable choice in my opinion. I just watched the BFG DVD the other day and had the same opinion that i had when it aired live: it wasn't very good. I'm not even a workrate freak and can sometimes be drawn into a match on the atmosphere alone, but that match had two spots going for it. Angle taking out the ref and Sting no selling the guitar. Two moments in 20 minutes is hardly Total Nonstop Action. The Six Sides of Steel kicked all kinds of ass though and I haven't seen this year's KotM yet, so I can't really comment on that. I'm guessing one will be a Daniels/Joe/Styles 3 way and the other will be an UX (I'd pick Williams/Sabin/Styles if it were up to me, but when that match aired, Sabin was and Styles were faces and Petey was a heel).

Yes, show a match with a finish of Earl Hebner screwing the babyface champion out of the title. That won't make TNA look minor league, rehashing Montreal.

*NWA Tag Team champions AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels vs. LAX- Six Sides of Steel (Bound for Glory 2006)

It's a good match, but I would have gone with their Ultimate X match which had the spectacular finish of Daniels leaping off the top of the rigging,

*NWA champion Jeff Jarrett vs. Sting with Kurt Angle as the official Enforcer (Bound for Glory 2006)

It makes sense to show the match where Sting becomes NWA Champion, but it's not a match that will grab viewers attention. It's not very good, and it has some really bad spots that will need to be edited out. Which means we'll get them in all their botched glory.

*Two additional matches from PPV (no confirmation on what they are yet).

One of them HAS to feature Samoa Joe, and if TNA has any brains it'll be the first Joe/Daniels/Styles match.

*A countdown of TNA's "Greatest Moments"

And I'll be shocked if even half of them involved an actual wrestling match.
