SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 I just got back from seeing Reno 911! Miami. Fucking funny as hell. I've only seen a couple of episodes of the TV show the movie is based on, but I didn't need to because it works as a stand-alone movie just fine. It follows a fictional sheriff's department to a police convention in Miami. When every police officer is poisoned in a nefarious plot, our incompetent heroes must keep the streets of Miami safe from prostitutes, alligators, drug lords, and beached whales. SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!! I wondered about this. I love the show, but I wondered if it being a movie would it take away from alot of the improv of the show, which I think is the funniest part. Then I saw Terry was in it and said fuck it, I will see. Ripper: Quoting the original post even though he is the second post since 2002
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 The Rock, Danny DeVito, and Paul Reubens have funny cameos, by the way. They also do a lot of stuff in this movie they could never ever do on the TV show.
Boon 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 Excellent. I'm hearing good things all around, and that is selling me on this movie.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 Not nearly enough Garcia for my tastes. I've laughed harder at the show, I must say, but it was a good movie. Nothing as funny as the 10 commandments scene tho... Not enough Terry either
razazteca 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 Did Paul Reubens do the character he had in the tv show which was a Guardian Angel/neighborhood watch type character?
Richard 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 I must admit I'm hesitant to pay for something I could watch at home for free. I feel the same way with the Simpsons movie.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 I'm glad to hear it's getting good reviews, and that they seem to be promoting it well. I was worried this would be like other comedy shows turned into movies (MST3K, Kids in the Hall) that get almost zero promotion and are ignored, despite being entertaining. Since Borat made millions on improve the studios decided to give Reno 911 the same type of promotion by having the actors go onto late night talk shows in character their spot on the Craig Fergeoson show was funny as hell. Timmy8271 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 Just got back from watching it. It was good and funny. But my Expectations were way too high for it. Patton Oswalt was great in the movie. The Masturbation and sex scene killed me though.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2007 I'm a huge fan of the series and I really didn't like the movie that much. I thought the jokes were predictable. The characters didn't have the awkwardness that I like on the show so much. It seemed really disjointed. Best part of the movie was the Terry subplot. Hands down.
