BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2007 Ashley with a top rope elbow???? Has she been doing this? I usually watch only the major angles on Smackdown each week. From what I can recall she's been using it for some time, though as I recall its from the second rope.
haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2007 Is anyone getting as tired as I am of WWE not being able to come up with a better way for Finlay to win matches than smack someone with his shileliegh nearly every week? It's getting a little old.

haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2007 I'm not really asking for a clean win. At this point I'd be happy to see Finlay hit someone with a chair.
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2007 Oh come on. My fantasy picks for this week suck. Had burke...who didn't have a match. Thought Chavo would win something and MVP would MITB qualify. Damnit. At least I had Lashley, who did everything this week.
strummer 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2007 The Meltz was there in person: Smackdown spoilers from San Jose [email protected] Dark match Funaki b Bradley Jay before ECW started Smackdown opened with Batista doing an interview. Fans were with him except when he made Undertaker references, and then he was booed. Same stuff as before, talking about how he's not intimidated but still being a face. Undertaker's music played but he only appeared on the screen cutting a promo. Undertaker's reaction was far bigger than Batista's. Money in the bank qualifier: Matt Hardy b Joey Mercury with a twist of fate off the ropes in 10:48. Booker was doing commentary and Hardy made the same climbing the ladder motion that Punk did during ECW. Jimmy Yang & Shannon Moore & Scotty 2 Hotty b Chavo Guerrero & Gregory Helms & Daivari when Yang pinned Daivari with a moonsault bodyblock. Helms and Yang were a solid level or two above everyone else here. Good match. Vince McMahon was out and had red hot heat. They showed the clip of Lashley doing the flying tackle through the cage on Umaga from ECW. He plugged they would announce the special referee on Raw on Monday. Lashley came out and got in Vince's face. Vince told Lashley he'd pay him double whatever Trump was paying him to back out of the match. Lashley of course declined. Vince slapped him in the face and as Lashley got a crazed look, Vince ran away. Backstage, Mr. Kennedy wanted a shot at Lashley. Vince ordered a match where Kennedy couldn't be DQ'd or counted out, but Lashley could, and the title was at stake. Ashley b Jillian with an elbow off the middle rope in 2:26. No matter how hard they push her, Ashley just isn't that popular. Jillian did her Brooke Hogan impersonation before the match. You've seen worse. Fit Finlay won the Money in the bank qualifier over MVP and Chris Benoit in 9:04. Benoit was excellent here, doing all his signature stuff and carrying the match. It wasn't Benoit vs. Finlay level, but MVP didn't hurt the match either. Finish saw Hornswoggle (before the match Finlay explained that was his name) distract the ref. Finlay hit both men with the shillelagh and pinned Benoit. Next week's Smackdown has Batista vs. Kane and Undertaker vs. Finlay Lashley b Kennedy with the Oklahoma Stampede. Kennedy used a low blow, tights, chair to the head all to no avail as Lashley kept kicking out. Lashley really didn't look so hot, but they'll probably be able to cover for him in post-editing. Lashley isn't quite as popular as he should be given his push, but he was the at the level below the top guys. For the night, Undertaker and Van Dam were the top level with Batista and Benoit underneath them.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2007 Wait, so it will be Batista vs kane and The Undertaker vs Finlay? As in Kane and Undertaker teaming together while Batista and Finaly are wrestling as singles? I am really confused.

pochorenella 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2007 I read another report where they didn't mention that the Hardy vs Mercury match was a MITB qualifier, but since there's more than one report wich says it was then I guess Matt is the sixth entrant. Weird that SD! already has four entrants, RAW has two and ECW only one. I was holding out some hope for RVD to win a second-chance match or something of that sort but I guess that Orton will be the final entrant, less he be left with nothing to do at Mania. RVD can still be place in a multi-man tag of ECW Originals vs New Breed at Mania. For all the flack Lashley gets there's no denying he's working extra hard to get over. He's been defending his Title every week and even last night he pulled double duty. That's commendable nowadays when you get some champs who wrestle only on PPVs once a month (TNA, I'm looking at you.)

As in Kane and Undertaker teaming together while Batista and Finaly are wrestling as singles? I am really confused. Even though that isn't what the match actually was, I'd probably watch that. Kane & Undertaker vs. Batista vs. Finlay .... Finlay wins after he uses his International Object.
Guest Super Leather Report post Posted February 28, 2007 I was at this show with a friend of mine, so I'll put in my two cents: -Matt Hardy was over like Rover with the San Jose crowd. Very loud "HAR-DY!" chants throughout the match, more so than for anyone else that evening, including the ECW taping. -There were very audible boos for both Batista and Bobby Lashley, at least from my section. It probably won't come out on TV though. Lashley's "NO!" response to Vince McMahon made him sound like a tool. I'd say "fag," but I'm being nice. Lashley sucks, I'm now convinced. -Audible "TNA" chants during the cruiserweight 6-man, which died as soon as they were just starting to catch on. -The main event dark match was a quickie with Batista vs. King Booker. Batista won, of course. They also gave one of their security guards a sendoff since it was his last day. Three guesses as to which song Batista sang to him. Batista singing=funny. -Hornswoggle attacked both JBL and Michael Cole before the triple threat MITB match, which was damn funny. JBL threw his cowboy hat at him as Hornswoggle scrambled underneath the ring. -Taker totally got the bigger reaction than Batista, and he didn't even appear. The Meltz is right when he says Ashley isn't that popular, despite the Playboy cover. -Red hot heat for McMahon? Since the Bay Area crowd doesn't get too loud for wrestling, I guess that's accurate. Can't say that I thought the reaction to Vince was that much more heated than any other heel on the show. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out on TV, and what gets edited out. Thanks for the Fish 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2007 Doesn't sound too promising on paper anyways. I guess we'll have to see come Friday. Ashley isn't over because she is phony as hell in her punk-grrl role. So we have Kennedy, Finlay, Booker T, Punk, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Edge in the MITB and have to assume Orton will be added, as there is nothing else left for him to do otherwise. Too many people in the match, it's going to be a mess.

I was also there and the only thing I'll disagree with is Vince's heat. He easily got the most heat of the night as far as the heels went. Everything else was spot on. Also, Lashley seemed way more over during ECW than he did Smackdown. I guess the crowd died towards the end, because the boos he was receiving were much louder during his match with Kennedy. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 I hope theres a really good logical explanation to why Austin is picked as the Guest Ref. since he hasnt even been on TV since WM 21. In fact, Id mark out if the Board of Directors go "Well, Steve is in a Movie that WWF Films is releasing and we need the publicity for the Movie, so thats why we've picked him as the guest referee.."
