They're meaningless games. If you give a flying fuck about a spring training record, you're a dope. Baseball retarded.

Let me enjoy a 4-1 start and pretend it counts! Jesh! and at least they are playing well...I know it doesnt mean a damn thing and will probably translate into a 2-12 start..

If the Orioles do go 2-12, you'll think they can still win 150 games because they have Bedard and some other mediocre starter. Woo.

their first 13 games are vs The Twins, Yankees, Tigers and Royals..in all likelyhood like 2-11 or worse..lol

Adam Loewen is not mediocre..he was 6-6 last year in his first season and he has the talent to be just as good as Bedard and they are both lefties. Combined with Cabrera who finally started pitching well last year when he realized he needed eye correction and theres 3 good young talented pitchers capable each of winning 15 games + and I do belive the 2nd year of working with Mazzone is going to be what pushes them to that point.

No, that's my point. Don't pretend it counts. They are basically just inviting other teams to come practice with them. You have pitchers who are just working on changeups all day, or nothing but cutters, and so on. Nobody is truly playing to win here, thus, they are meaningless games. I think the Cubs are like 1-3 or 1-4 or something. I don't know. Who cares? What I do know is that Ted Lilly has looked decent, Prior has not, and Piniella has expressed a commitment to playing for three-run homers, or, failing that, playing for something, rather than Dusty Baker's tired old fatalist stance of "whatever happens happens, dude." That's the stuff you take from what's going on over in America's Litter Box (or America's Wang for your team).

I thought Dusty played for speed. And not accepting any walks. Fuck Lawyer Ball.

White Sox spring training baseball on 670 has been cancelled today because the engineer forgot to show up. Way to go, 50,000-watt station in the #3 market. That's some bush-league shit right there, but I'm all for it, because I don't like when they pre-empt daily programming.

Also a small bit of news, I intend to bring back the baseball preview.

Please don't create threads for every team again.

I can't believe Rob Neyer chatted for 6 hours and 37 minutes. Jesus.

Josh Johnson is only out for two months. That's good news.

Down in Houston, everybody's all over Astros' top prospect Hunter Pence's nuts. Admittedly, he's having a fantastic first week of spring, batting .750 (9 for 12) with 4 RBI and 17 total bases. Today he was 2-2 off of Tom Glavine with a triple and a walk. Out of the other two RF options, Richard Hidalgo is 0-12 and Jason Lane is playing mediocre enough that he'll probably get the back-up job to Luke Scott and proceed to stink it up before getting cut, if only because he's out of options and can't be sent down without someone claiming him. Also, there's this pitching prospect name Paul (pronounced Pah-ool) Estrada that's getting a lot of buzz. I expect he'll probably make the team. Everything said about him so far is how filthy his stuff is. I had never heard of him before ST started. I'm excited that this year I'll actually get to go to some spring games, one against the Fish and one against the Yanks. The most fun part of Spring Training is that it means that the regular season is only a few weeks away.

For anyone who wants to watch the Reds/Yankees game but doesn't have YES Network or MLB.tv here you go:

Click this link http://www.download.com/TVU-Player/3...-10584888.html

Download the TVU Player. It's fast and easy.

After you do that, open it! It will open a media player on your computer that allows you to watch streamed video. On the left hand side of the screen, it will give you a long list of channels. Scroll down until you see channel VIPER TVNET.

I'm watching the game on it now. Just so you guys know I watch everything on MLB.tv for free, just search around the net and save your cash.

Or if you're having problems with that link try this:

http://www.download.com/3002-2194_4-105848...ml?tag=pdp_prob

And go to option 1.

The Os tied today!

bleh

How the hell is it possible to get a tie in baseball did they run out of pitchers like in the All Star Game?

Never seen a game play to a tie ever that's what's happens in the subpar sports like soccer and hockey not the American Past Time! And yeah I watch a few spring training games where the pitcher stays in for about 2 innings before a minor leaguer gets some game time.

To further prove that spring training tends to be meaningless and shouldn't be taken seriously: Sammy Sosa has two home runs.

Granted it could also mean he's no longer afraid of the fast balls and the year off actually helped him get his head back on straight, but it could also just mean it's Spring Training.

You be the judge.

Or, he found a way to get back on "the cream" without getting caught.

Or, he's corking his bat.

Mark Kotsay is having back surgery and will be out for two to three months. Definitely for the best as he played all last year with the bad back and became a liability in center. This will shift Bradley to center to full-time for now and pretty much guarentees that Ryan Goleski will make the team.

Former Phillies player/coach and current front office employee John Vuckovich has died at the age of 59. Vuckovich passed away from complications from a brain tumor. Vuckovich was a fixture at Red Barons games and was a nice person. It's a shame to see him go. This has not been a good offseason.
