So I just ordered the first two volumes of Animaniacs on DVD from Amazon. I'm also probably going to order the Pinky And The Brain boxed sets. Anyone have any thoughts about the greatest cartoon of all time?

Tiny Toons was better

Yakko telling Dot she was in charge of "finger prints" and Prince drops down from the sky and gives her a giggle while Dot just stares at the screen....that joke alone made me love this show.

Plus...Chicken Boo mutha fucka. Chicken Boo. Fuck Tiny toons right in the eye.

Tiny Toons was good, but it seemed like they made way too many references to the fact that they're smaller versions of the Looney Tunes, and I really don't remember them having too many characters/jokes that really stood out on their own. However I do have the VHS of "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" around here somewhere, and that was pretty badass.

Tiny Toons was great, but Animaniacs was better. Slappy Squirrel owns all.

Greatest cartoon of all time?

It's up there but Looney Tunes, The Simpsons, and the DCUA have it beat.

I think Pinky and the Brain is what turned me off to Animaniacs...they had a small segment in each episode for awhile, am I correct?

They were regulars on the show during the first season; before being spun off into their own show when the series changed networks and went onto the Kids WB.

That said, Animaniacs is better than Tiny Toons, which has countless flaws that have become hard to ignore as time passes: most notably the fact one-third of the series has horrificlly bad animation and much of the humor is VERY VERY dated....

Slappy Squirrel owned the show and everyone knows it.

Also favorites:

Wheel of Morality!

Mime Time!

Good idea/Bad idea!

Buttons! OKILOVEYOUBUHBYE!

The stupid things they added into the credits at the end

I liked Pinky and the Brain but they overdid it with their own show.

Dr. Scratchnsniff was annoying.

I loved the Animaniacs. Subversive humor for adults and slapstick for kids. Plus they even managed to make geography kinda fun (Yakko's Country Song). Tiny Toons had their moments (the music video for They Might Be Giants' "Istanbul" springs to mind) but I give the edge to Animaniacs.

The Barney parady they did was my favorite episode as a kid. Hopefully it's on the next dvd set.

Oh, and the Billy Ray Cyrus bashing was gold too. "Don't tell my head, my empty-hollow head. You know I wouldn't understand."

Really enjoyed the show, but there were lots of hit/miss segments.

Chicken Boo and Katie Kaboom, anyone?

Goodfeathers was fairly average. The actual Warner stuff and Pinky and the Brain were my fave, Slappy was always great if infrequent. Buttons and Mindy usually made me yawn.

And while not really a negative on the show itself per se, when I found out that Minerva Mink had a major internet fanbase, often odd people called "furries," I think I died a little inside.

Tiny Toons I thought was more consistently funny.

"Wheel of Morality, turn, turn, turn, tell us the lesson that we should learn" We use that line as a call back line over at Rocky Horror.

I loved the Animaniacs just because the cartoon really started with the secret adult humor that just made it so great. Now I really want to go out and get the dvds.

He's a chicken! A giant chicken!

(with a mustache)

IIRC, and I watched that show religiously, there was only one Minerva Mink cartoon anyway. Stupid furries.

The guy who voiced Wakko is HUGE.

And I don't know why people are suprised by Minerva Mink being perverted by the internet and furries.

The first animated gif of cartoons screwing I remember was Yakko and Wakko double teaming Hello Nurse. This show was one of the first to be pornoised.

Now you guys are making want to watch the show.damn theres goes another dvd purchase for me :) as for tiny toons, I think my love of it is due to it being on the air first and was a rite of passage to watch every day after school, sometimes while doing homework.

How could I have forgotten to mention Chicken Boo? I suck

Anyone care to list their fav good iea/bad ideas? I can't think of any off the top of my head right now though.

News to me. I thought it was a one note joke that made Pepe LePew cartoons seem not quite so repetitive.

I'd swear so, too. Wikipedia says differently, though--2 starring cartoons and a bunch of cameos, allegedly.

Tiny Toons had some really great Halloween specials. One Eyed Jack was a pretty awesome monster. They also did a great twist on the Bugs cartoon where he met Dracula.

There was the one with the nerdy wolf with a crush on her that turns into a buff werewolf under a full moon. What was the other one?

I have the Volume 2 set and looking back, everything except the Warners, P&TB and, to a lesser extent, Slappy Squirrel, was very hit and miss. Especially Buttons & Mindy and Rita & Runt.
