oAo ECW on SciFi 3/20/2007

Recommended Posts

On Raw, Bobby Lashley did the seemingly impossible by becoming the first Superstar to break the Master Lock. Following the events of Raw, an irate Chris Masters will come to ECW on Sci Fi to battle the ECW World Champion in singles action. Last week, Lashley added another win to his long list since joining the Land of the Extreme, as he took out Randy Orton in the main event. Will Masters be the second Raw Superstar to fall to Lashley in the past eight days?

The ECW Originals had a big night on ECW on Sci Fi when Tommy Dreamer emerged victorious in the Battle Royal. Do they have the advantage over the New Breed heading into WrestleMania? Will they be looking to add a reinforcement to their faction?

Elijah Burke tried once again to lure CM Punk to join forces with him and fellow New Breed members Kevin Thorn, Marcus Cor Von and Matt Striker. But just like the first time, Punk didn't appear to be very interested. Will Punk come closer to joining the other four Superstars in their quest for ECW supremacy, or will he continue to resist the offers?

Also, the force of one of ECW's newest Superstars, Snitsky, has now been tested in between bells. After making easy work of his Handicap Match victims, what is next for the deranged Superstar?

Find out the answers to all of these questions and more on ECW on Sci Fi on Tuesday at 10/9 CT.

Considering RVD, Sandman, and Sabu are all possibly gone after WM(or soon thereafter) what is the point of continuing the Originals/New Breed feud when there isn't even going to be an Originals stable anymore? Why thrust CM Punk into it when he is doing just fine on his own? I know CM Punk isn't really a "star" yet, but he was building something solid until someone in the back decided he didn't deserve any respect and cut the legs out from under him.

Even with RVD seemingly leaving, they could easily have the faction be Sandman/Dreamer/Sabu/Balls Mahoney, and it would still be effective, especially considering the fans view RVD as "too big" for this thing as he is outpopping the rest of the entire team combined You can kind of tell RVD is just a part of it to give him something to do before he leaves, otherwise he would/should at least be working his way back up to an eventual title shot.

Someone is going to point out that the originals consists of two pot heads, a drunk and a guy who only brawls instead of wrestles, right? A total contrast to everything that Punk stands for.

Actually, he was borderline on getting buried until mid February, where he won the Money in the Bank match (and therefore going to Wrestlemania as the only ECW guy), and didn't really have a storyline until they tried to get him involved in the New Breed vs Originals feud. Now with the New Breed trying to seek Punk as a valuable free agent, he has some direction, and they could easily turn him heel against the Originals, which if done right, will boost his popularity. I still hope he wins Money in the Bank, but I have no idea who's going to win that one.

CM Punk joining the New Breed would make him the defacto leader since he is the best all around wrestler out of the group. After he beats the drunk, the meth man, and the two~ DUI guys, CM Punk can then go on to shit on the vampire for sucking, the teacher for breaking some random rule, Monty for MVP stealing his gimmick, and Burke for not being able to carry the Predator.

How would turning him heel against the Originals boost his popularity?

Ask Edge or The Rock.

They can't turn Punk heel right now. That would leave Lashley as the only viable face on ECW (assuming RVD, Sabu, and Sandman are going to leave sooner than later). Who else would the fans rally around? Tommy Dreamer?

Well, who is Lashley going to face after Battle of the Billionaires? He pretty much has almost no credible contenders left.

Burke and maybe Monty Brown are the only two I can think of.

That show does need more face characters though. Because if Punk DOES turn, you're right, there won't be many left.

Turning Punk is a big risk simply because he'll keep the fans behind him regardless. There's tons of talent spread throughout the company that can be patched with Lashley.

I bet they'll do some kind of "ECW Champion's Open Challenge" and have Lashley continue to beat midcarders from other shows (MVP, Kennedy, Dykstra, Finlay, etc), until they build someone like Elijah Burke or Marcus Cor Von into a credible challenger.

Or they'll have him feud with SNITSKY!

Because they want to bury Lashley even further by showing that he is boring as hell, shows no emotion, and has no charisma at all.

What makes you think anyone wants to bury Lashley? He's getting a pretty huge push at the moment.

Am I the only one who wants to see RVD turn on the Originals at WM? They haven't tried a heel RVD character since he joined the company and if he decides to stay, which I think he will, that gives Punk and Lashley someone worthy to work with.

If they had the balls to create a character that can be pretty much the same, heel or face, with good reactions as a heel and as a face then they might just have another star on their hands. It works for Rock. Worked for Austin. Worked for Undertaker.

I don't know if Punk would or could be that guy, but it probably doesn't matter, since recent form shows the chances of them creating that sort of character (ie. someone who isn't moulded from the proverbial wrestling cookie cutter) and sticking with it (ie. not doing what they did to Batista and Orton and Matt Hardy and Kennedy etc. and turning them for no reason other than fear of their reactions) are slim to none.

"snitsky has now been tested in between bells"

Im sorry..I find that funny for some reason.

It says bells not b****

Snitsky has finally had a match rather than just attacking random people. That's what they are attempting to say.

What a way to open the show by having Masters showing off his juced out greatness.

Someone should check Ariel for 'roids. That's the biggest chest in ECW right now.
