Bored Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 THURSDAY Southern Illinois vs. Kansas, 7:10/4:10 PM Texas A&M vs. Memphis, 7:27/4:27 PM Pittsburgh vs. UCLA, 9:40/6:40 PM Tennessee vs. Ohio State, 9:57/6:47 PM FRIDAY Butler vs. Florida, 7:10/4:10 PM Vanderbilt vs. Georgetown, 7:27/4:27 PM UNLV vs. Oregon, 9:40/6:40 PM USC vs. North Carolina, 9:57/6:47 PM
Art Sandusky Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 No one will be able to get me away from television during the Tennessee/Ohio State game. I think UT can do it, and it'll be the best game of the weekend. All of my final four are still alive, so it's all good.
Gert T Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 If Billy Donovan is a good coach (and I think he is), he posts up Horford or Noah and they touch the ball every possession. Butler's "bigs" will not be able to man them so they should be able to hit cutters or the other big man underneath for an easy dunk. If Florida is motivated I see them shooting a very high FG % because they should get good looks.
Guest Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 I like how they put the two games I'm most interested in at the same time.
Matt Young Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 I have many friends who attend or did attend SIU, and I have partied there. SIU all the way.
cabbageboy Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 I'm torn on that SIU/Kansas game. Kansas needs to lose at some point to fulfill my theory of them always choking, but I am cringing at the prospect of SIU vs. either Pitt or UCLA. That'd be a game the UN would ban as a torture device. Anyway here are my picks with scores: Florida 75, Butler 69. I like Butler quite a bit and they will keep this closer than people think, but it's doubtful they'll actually win. UNLV 73, Oregon 71. I have no real serious feelings about this game and in fact have Oregon in my bracket in the Elite 8. But the more interesting story is Lon Kruger against his former team, hence UNLV vs. FL. Let's face it, FL vs. Oregon has all the appeal of a damp rag. Kansas 69, SIU 62. SIU will play it their way and slow Kansas down, but as I said I would rather avoid SIU vs. Pitt/UCLA. UCLA 59, Pitt 48. This game has all the earmarks of Pitt throwing up a turd effort. And when Pitt sucks, they REALLY suck! UNC 75, USC 65. Trojans will be game but I can't see them possibly winning here. Georgetown 78, Vanderbilt 70. This may be closer than the previous meeting, but let's get real here. Vandy barely beat Washington St. No way are they winning this. Tennessee 79, Ohio St. 78. OSU is on borrowed time and Tennessee played them ultra tough in the first meeting. Texas A & M 79, Memphis 71. Seriously Aggies, don't you dare have the nerve to beat U of L and then job out to Memphis. You guys prevented the Cards from beating the evil Memphis, so you better fucking beat them now.
Star Ocean 3 Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 so what happens when USC and UCLA meet in the finals
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 I have many friends who attend or did attend SIU, and I have partied there. Same here. However I'm rooting for USC first and foremost. SIU is the 2nd choice.
2GOLD Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 I just want SIU, UNLV and Butler to win but I don't think they will. I think UNLV has the best shot but I'm not holding my breath. If they all three win, I'll be a happy camper.
cabbageboy Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Leave to UK to still try and overshadow the tourney itself....Tubby Smith is GONE baby! He's going to Minnesota to take over there.
bob_barron Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Grrrr, I'm about to punch MMOD in the face. Fucking work!
alfdogg Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Josh McRoberts has declared for the NBA draft, according to ESPN.
2GOLD Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 So the officials give Kansas four points (the blown shot clock violation and the no call on the goal tending) and they win by three. Well, what can you do, that's how it goes. Game ended up being real close and SI just didn't seem as focused at times. For a team full of veteran players as the announcers said, they didn't play like it. Be interesting to see what becomes of the TAM/MEMP game now.
Matt Young Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Man, fuck Kansas. Aside from supporting SIU, I have always hated Kansas.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Thanks, So Ill, for giving the game away for A)not fouling and then B)gophering up the ball. BTW, the refs were awful, even the commentator brought up Kansas getting all the calls.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 I have a feeling that my F4 of Pitt, Ohio State, UNC, and Florida is gonna be half gone in 2 hours.
CanadianChris Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 I'm glad I can get CBS Seattle, which is showing A&M/Memphis. This has been a tremendous game.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Man, the Ags have had a chance to build their lead here in the last minute. Can't believe Law missed the layup even with the challenge. Now Memphis gets the last shot. I hate this. My teams always seem to lose on the last shot. Having horrible flashbacks to last year's game vs. LSU.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 FOUR OFFENSIVE REBOUNDS?! WHAT THE FUCK?
CanadianChris Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 FOUR offensive rebounds for Memphis to get a chance at the line.
CanadianChris Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 I think he misses the second free throw. This game is too good to end. EDIT: Or not.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 A&M got a break there. Lost only .2 of a second and moved the ball almost up to halfcourt. I hate this. Edit: A full second? The refs must have thought the ball didn't hit the sideline on the tip.
CanadianChris Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 They must have seen what I saw, which is that the ball didn't go out of bounds on the first bounce.
CanadianChris Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Well, there's one Final Four team lost.
razazteca Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Talk about choking in the final seconds.
cabbageboy Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Oh fuck you A & M. You just HAD to beat U of L and then go out and job in the same exact fashion tonight to Memphis. U of L would at least have had the common decency to end the farce that is Memphis. Can we please get some sort of WTF caliber upset? I'm practically begging here. And no, UNLV beating Oregon isn't exactly a shocker. I wanna see Butler over Florida or something.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 That 3.1 to 2.0 seconds call by the referees was PERFECT, the ball took a second to bounch onto the man at the stands. It's when the ball LANDS. Well done, glad to see them break out the stopwatch.
bob_barron Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WE'RE GOING TO THE ELITE 8!!!! OH MY GOD!!!
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Oden with 3 fouls, 5 min left, 2 points. Ouch. Pitt looking like a dried up catshit but still alive.
