Where were you the first time you heard

Recommended Posts

I was in my family's camper in Maine, during our annual summer camping trip and I heard it on the radio. It was dubbed one of the "summer songs" in that I mainly associate it with the summer get aways.

Looking at this thread is enough to get this song stuck in my head for approximately the next hour. I don't mind.

I mind motherfucker. Now I have to go and download the goddamn song to get it out of my head.

And I too remember the video on VH1/MTV whilst at my grandparents house in Kelso.

Inc, do you think Tom has and/or had it in him to produce an amazingly sensitive power ballad? I'm so moved by "Life is a Highway" that I'm tempted to check out some more of his catalog.

Maybe. Ask the board's Canadians, though, as—not counting his work with Red Rider—Cochrane was a one-hit wonder in the states.

I am currently downloading all of Mad Mad World and I will keep you all posted on my findings as soon as I listen to it.

"The Secret Is To Know When To Stop" is a nice slow song, but it isn't quite the power ballad I was hoping for.

Ooh, now the drums and strings are coming in. It's picking up!

I like this song and I would suggest checking it out!

Is all of this Tom Cochrane love genuine or is it just some weird sort of...thing, because I really do dig 'Life is a Highway' and if I found out that all of this was in jest, my feelings would be hurt.

Okay, not always. First time I heard it was on some long road trip when I was a kid on some tape my mother was playing. It was okay. Years later I despise it, and curse its status as a mainstay at karaoke nights.
