Giuseppe Zangara Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 Why not pin every goddamn stupid thread on the first page.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 Note the Sports forum and its lack of pinned threads. I've been on this issue well before you guys. And if you think this place is bad, check out the DVDVR message board.
Guest Richard McBeef Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 "Services..." shouldn't be pinned. As thread starter, I feel I can make that call. Threads like that one keep themselves pinned. Or they don't. And that's fine. Curry, how's the new Feist?
Giuseppe Zangara Posted May 7, 2007 Author Report Posted May 7, 2007 Listened to the new Feist, Inc? She continues to be as mild and pleasant as she was on her first album. That's isn't a bad thing, but, also like her first album, nothing here sticks. It's fine background music and little more than that.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted May 7, 2007 Author Report Posted May 7, 2007 Note the Sports forum and its lack of pinned threads. I've been on this issue well before you guys. And if you think this place is bad, check out the DVDVR message board. I've been in a grouchy mood lately (I've taken to giving up caffeine PLUS I've been having women troubles) so it's manifesting itself here. That said, none of those threads need to be pinned. Gene's thread served its purpose for awhile, but that's long since passed; the "smarkipedia" (ohmygod I actually typed it) thread is arguable, though I'm not the one to take up the pro- side. As Czech already said, any remaining thread, if popular enough, will remain near the top. Plus, I don't like how it ruins the front page's feng shui.
Guest Richard McBeef Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Don't give up caffeine; it won't get you anywhere.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted May 7, 2007 Author Report Posted May 7, 2007 I've had a headache for the past three days; I haven't had any caffeine in four.
The Niggardly King Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Oh shit this thread is pinned the irony

That's isn't a bad thing, but, also like her first album, nothing here sticks. It's fine background music and little more than that. The college radio station here in Calgary plays a lot of her early stuff. She was quite the Lemmy-calibre vocalist back in the day.
Failed Bridge Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 I've had a headache for the past three days; I haven't had any caffeine in four. that's because your body is detoxing. Happened to me when I cut caffeine out of my diet. I get alot more energy through my sleep now and my body doesn't crash mid-day without a caffeine rush.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted May 7, 2007 Author Report Posted May 7, 2007 I couldn't sleep at all last night. I should probably just drink a soda, huh.
Failed Bridge Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 after the first week you won't be affected anymore. Drink more water though as it helps flush out the system faster.
justsoyouknow Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 I've got a "dry socket" on one of my wisdom teeth, which in short means that the blood clot fell out and the bare jawbone was exposed, causing immense pain. The good news is I went back to the oral surgeon today and he put cool drugs directly into the hole left by the roots, then refilled my prescription for vicodin. Huzzah. And Matt, if you've gone this long without having caffeine, when you do have it again, it's going to make you feel all loopy. I cut all caffeine from my diet a while back, then had a Dr. Pepper like three weeks later and thought I was going to be sick. Not a pleasant time.
Guest Richard McBeef Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 How much of that is the caffeine and how much is the high fructose corn syrup that makes you feel sick? I think I just have a high tolerance for caffeine at this point and don't give it much thought.
EricMM Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 I cut caffeine out over lent. Its kind of nice not to NEED a fix of some sort every damn day. The headache sucked but it passes.
Guest Richard McBeef Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 I suffer from debilitating headaches already, so I don't want to cause another one by going off the Diet Mountain Dew. I couldn't even watch a lot of the Super Bowl.

I think I just have a high tolerance for caffeine at this point and don't give it much thought. It could just be the additives in it, because now a single cup of coffee will get me fucking wired for the entire day, whereas before I'd have to have a few sodas throughout the course of the day and still be tired and cranky.
The Niggardly King Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Gentlemen... green tea is all you need.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted May 7, 2007 Author Report Posted May 7, 2007 I'm long past the point where soda (which, in the long run, I plan on giving up entirely) has any effect on me other than satiating a fix. On the rare occasion I would drink something coffee-related, just to feel something, I'd have to get a minimum of three or four espresso shots added to it. That usually worked, which was why I rarely did it. No point in finding a new, even worse avenue for my addiction.
EricMM Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Imagine what that was doing to your system, your heart...
k thx Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 I kicked caffeine because it was fucking with my heart. I pretty much only drink water now. If I drink soda now, it's horribly acidic and overly sweet. On the rare ocasions I've had cola, it's left that horrible residue in my mouth. No way I could drink a 2 litre bottle now.
Copper Feel Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 I probably go through 7 bottles of Dr Pepper and Fanta Fruit Twist a week, I would quit but alas, I am addicted.
Failed Bridge Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Gentlemen... green tea is all you need. Piss lives off of that and tried getting me into it but I just don't care for tea. All I drink now is water and a small chocolate shake occasionaly I pretty much only drink water now. If I drink soda now, it's horribly acidic and overly sweet. On the rare ocasions I've had cola, it's left that horrible residue in my mouth. No way I could drink a 2 litre bottle now. Same here. I had some rootbeer a couple months back and it felt as though there was a layer of grime covering my teeth afterwards. I immediately brushed.
Sideburnious Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 I've pretty much stopped drinking soft drinks except for maybe once a week or mixing with booze. I live with people that drink about 3 bottles of coke a day and I don't know how they do it. I'll just stick with water and milk (seperatly, not together).
Edwin MacPhisto Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 If I have coffee in the morning, I feel my eyes bouncing around in my skull all day. And if I don't have a soda by 2 or 3, I generally get a nice-sized headache. I don't think I mind being addicted to diet soda, though.
Ted the Poster Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Same here. I had some rootbeer a couple months back and it felt as though there was a layer of grime covering my teeth afterwards. I immediately brushed. Oh, that's only because it was root beer.
