AntiLeaf33 Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 Yeah, I guess we're holding onto a tiny beacon of hope
luke-o Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 This can only be good if theres a RVD/Sabu/Fonzie reunion in TNA. But Sabu did fuck up a bit here.
CBright7831 Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 Meh, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Oh well.
AntiLeaf33 Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 Yeah, this was not a matter of if it was going to happen, just a matter of when.
cabbageboy Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 I just read on pwinsider.com that TNA does want to bring in RVD and Sabu but get this. They want them to feud with each other. This sounds like a really dumb idea since it makes little sense, and also these guys should come in as a unit and start destroying people left and right. What would this feud even be over? RVD vs. Sabu: Battle For the Stash! Anyone who has watched the past 10 years of wrestling knows that RVD and Sabu work better as a team than they do as opponents. As a team they compliment each other and the other team can bring their own style to the table. As opponents they just do a "can you top this?" spotfest where they inevitably miss as much as they hit.

Especially their Heatwave '98 match.
Scroby Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 TNA could use more established tag teams then single's right now anyways.
cabbageboy Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 The Heatwave 98 match is fun enough, but RVD and Sabu had easily more fluid and enjoyable tag matches vs. Candido/Storm when they first won the ECW belts, and of course the obvious feud with the Dudleys. Given the amount of previous opponents in TNA how hard is it to book these guys honestly? I'd have Lethal win the X belt to pay off his storyline with Sabin, then have Lynn win the belt soon after. Thus RVD can go after Lynn and the X division title, and he and Sabu can go after the Dudleys and the tag belts. Or how about RVD/Sabu vs. LAX after that? And in the long term future I'm sure they'll eventually do RVD vs. Joe, RVD vs. Christian, and RVD vs. Angle. This is why I've said RVD would be a major signing for TNA. He can fit well into any division they have (world title, X title, and tag with Sabu).
Human Fly Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 If you are hoping for RVD and Sabu to come into TNA and tear it up like they did at Heatwave '98 then prepare for disappointment. There is too much tread worn off of those tires.
cabbageboy Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 Well, it's hard to say since in the new ECW RVD and Sabu had infrequent opportunities to tag in worthwhile matches. The one time they truly let them go wild was against Mike Knox and Test in an Extreme Rules match and that match was really fun. I know Team 3D are incredibly tired and formulaic but hell RVD/Sabu could wrestle the Dudleys in their sleep at this point. Or a wild hardcore match against LAX? It's be great. RVD and Sabu had a fun match with jobbers like Knox and Test....I think they still have enough left in the tank to have some terrific matches with real opponents.
Enigma Posted May 17, 2007 Author Report Posted May 17, 2007 I wouldn't put it past Vince Russo to book Rob Van Dam vs. Sabu in a Pot on a Pole match.
Celtic Jobber Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 I wouldn't put it past Vince Russo to book Rob Van Dam vs. Sabu in a Pot on a Pole match. But Russo's a "Christian" now so he's beyond such sinful things.
Jericholic82 Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 Well if Sabu wants to follow in Justin's footsteps, there is an opening in my dept at C.C. now seriously though, I'm not too surprised here. Even if he didn't show up late, Vince was going to get rid of him sooner or later. Besides the guy is easily 10 years past his prime and notacnly slower due to all the crazy bumps he has taken over the years. At least his last TV moment was being involved in the 4 way with RVD, Dreamer, and Sandman. Better than jobbing to freakin Mordecai. And he did get a Wrestlemania win so good there too. RVD will be huge in TNA if only Russo and or Jarrett doesn't screw it up, look at what the jump did for Christian, he went for mjobbing in all his biggest matches, to going over a year without losing (the King of The Mountain match notwithstanding)

The Niggardly King Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 I wouldn't put it past Vince Russo to book Rob Van Dam vs. Sabu in a Pot on a Pole match. Rhyno with the run in to destroy the pot?
Dobbs 3K Posted May 18, 2007 Report Posted May 18, 2007 I think TNA could make a lot of money with an RVD main event program (assuming they don't botch it like every other main event program they've done over the past year...). I don't know if there'd be as much interest in a Sabu/RVD tag team run.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted May 18, 2007 Report Posted May 18, 2007 I think RVD could get more over in TNA than Angle did, only because he always had that following. Angle is just "respected" but never a money draw.
