I haven't watched a single game of the conference finals...am I missing anything?

You're missing the always awesome Sonic commercials on TNT.

For a chain that's not even national, they sure spend a shitload of money on advertising. I've never seen one in Illinois or Wisconsin.

It'd be like a full-scale marketing blitz from In-n-Out Burger. What's the point?

Man, the NBA has had to count on San Antonio and Salt Lake City for its ratings in this series. Noodle that. Good grief. If we get another Spurs-Pistons final, I think this could be worse than Spurs-Nets in '03.

that surprises me...they're all over Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri.

I have noticed that they're all over the middle states. Their headquarters is in Oklahoma City, when I was there visiting my friends we were at the joint right next to corporate headquarters. Man, that has to suck working there.

Never seen one on the west coast either.

I know there's one in Hillsboro! (near Portland which I think is close to where you are) And yeah, my friends and I got upset about watching those commercials on TV in Miami. The closest Sonic to the Miami area was 75 miles northwest, somewhere in the swamps/boondocks. And I could always go for one of those breakfast foods or shakes they're always advertising.

Their locations are pretty strange for the amount of advertising they put out.

There's a Sonic east of Bakersfield where my grandparents live. That's the only one that I've ever seen out here.

I ate two meals at Sonic when I was visiting. Pretty good stuff.

Their website says 7380 NE Butler St, it looks to be close to NW Cornell, on the corner of Cornelius Pass Rd. and Amberwood.

I've wanted to check it out just to get one of those fucking milkshakes.

Whatever, I have Portillo's, Culver's, and Steak n Shake. I'm satisfied with my above-average fast food options.

EDIT: The closest Sonic to me is in Champaign-Urbana. Maybe the Chief is working the night shift there now that he lost his other job.

I love Sonic simply for the fact that, apparently due to low franchise fees and operating costs, I can find them even in towns with only 4000 people in them (this also applies to Subway)... given where I have to go for my job, this is a very good thing

They have excellent breakfast sandwiches, chicken sandwiches/wraps and cherry limeades. On the downside, their burgers are decent but not much to write home about, and, with the exception of their very good pineapple shake, their deserts leave much to be desired

Also, one of my closest friend's grandparents were original employees and investors of Sonic, so their family has a large amount of money due to that

I have never been able to get into Culver's...not sure why.

Well, the company is based in northern Wisconsin, so they probably have a policy of not allowing black people inside.

I ate Culver's fairly often during my time in MN, but since then the few times I've had Culver's on trips back up north have left me in agony

Sonic does have its share of good selections and the drive-in concept is still cute enough that it doesn't feel hokey as other attempts I've seen in replicating an nostalgic feel in a chain but seriously, Culver's is all that is needed in that small pocket of "above average" fast food chains. I don't consider Steak n Shake as one of those. It's always been diner fare for me and I can't place that with those.

It's certainly expensive enough to be above-average. In terms of drive-ins, I really need to take advantage of Dog n Suds soon.

Does anyone else feel somewhat cheated by the fact that we didn't get to see the Spurs matchup against either the Mavs or Warriors (or see the Suns series go 7 for that matter). The Spurs probably would have won anyways but I felt like those matchups would have been much more compelling than this farce against the Jazz.

As much as I like the Warriors, I don't think they would have done much better against the Spurs. Now, Mavericks, probably.

The Warriors would have had no shot against the Spurs. The Spurs killed the Warriors twice when the Warriors were on their hot streak.

The Mavs would have had a great shot because they seem to match up better with the Spurs than anybody else
