Guest George's Box Report post Posted June 2, 2007 Hey, don't look now, but Lou Piniellais going crazy over yet another Cubs mishap. Didn't see that one coming. It's about fucking time he got mad about something. He usually just sits there and mumbles bullshit answers like our previous skipper. I won't be satisfied with any of his outbursts until he calls Jim Hendry a fat sack of shit.

Guest George's Box Report post Posted June 2, 2007 Buzz Bissinger did a piece for the Times about Texan high school pitchers flaming out too early. Guess who he interviews. Looks like another great year of the Lincoln Park Zoo, by the way.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2007 Finally Pedroia gets moved up to the two hole. Only took anoher Drew injury to make it happen.
Guest Smues Report post Posted June 2, 2007 I need to say it again, I love the Braves annual trip to Chicago to play the Cubs. Today we get Lou stomping around and kicking his hat around the infield, and then the entire Braves team (including the bullpen I believe) has to leave the field while the grounds crew comes out to pick up all the trash that was thrown, mostly the free travel mugs the fans got today. What is this, WCW?
Guest George's Box Report post Posted June 2, 2007 It's what happens when your fatfuck dumbshit general manager drops three hundred million dollars on a poorly assembled team with a bullpen that gives up home runs on one pitch, a lineup that can't hit with the wind blowing in OR out, does not know how to run the bases, a catcher that can't catch anything from his pitcher but a swift right cross, and on top of that, knowing that backloaded contracts for bench players like Mark DeRosa and Cliff Floyd have hamstrung the organization for the next four years. I usually don't condone throwing trash, but the 2007 iteration of the Cubs somehow looks WORSE than 2006, and it's just absurd that it's gotten this bad. Oh, I also liked Bruce Froemming consulting himself on a check swing to strike out Theriot. There's a guy who's been evading fatal cardiac arrest for too long. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2007 What's wrong with the Cubs bullpen this year?

Guest Tzar Lysergic Report post Posted June 2, 2007 We should make predictions about the W/L record of the team that wins the NL central this season.
Guest George's Box Report post Posted June 2, 2007 I'm going with 84. It's higher than the '06 Cardinals winning 83, or the '05 Padres winning 82, so it won't be as mocked at first in spite of how stunningly bad the team will be, but it'll still be the worst finish of the four playoff teams, and they'll be swept.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2007 I'm going with 82. The team that wins the Central will either go on to be swept in the WS or win the WS in a sweep. Penthouse or the outhouse, and all that.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2007 I usually don't condone throwing trash, but the 2007 iteration of the Cubs somehow looks WORSE than 2006, and it's just absurd that it's gotten this bad. I said the same yesterday. On paper, this team shouldn't even compare to last year's debacle. I wasn't one of the people who thought that the Cubs were going to become a 100 or even 90-win team because they dumped a boatload of cash on overvalued pieces. But I certainly didn't expect them to be playing like this. With four months to go and being in one of the worst divisions of recent vintage, there's always a chance they can turn things around and squeak by. But this team is underachieving even by the modest standards some had for them. The scary thing is that for the first time since the Cubs were expected to win, they don't have any excuses. Injuries were always the reason they weren't winning if you asked certain people. Wood and Prior are hurt as usual, but this team wasn't constructed in a way that counted on them at all, so they can't be pointed at as reasons for the Cubs' failures. Their problems run a lot deeper than two pitchers who haven't been healthy in years and a lot of those problems can be pinned on their GM. We've got too many outfielders, a second baseman who is really a glorified platoon player being shoved into an everyday role, a bullpen that doesn't strike batters out, and a ridiculously expensive leadoff man who isn't hitting homers or stealing bases. Let's not even touch upon the atrocious hitting with RISP. Hendry's really backed the team into a corner by locking up some of these guys to contracts that no one's going to want. I think they'll get better, but he's compromised their long-term success for their immediate success.

KingPK 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2007 Can we feed Mike Lowell a bunch of HGH and put him on the Pats' o-line next season? That was a damn fine forearm shiver he put on Cano.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2007 Man, that Clemens' news is just...I don't wanna make sour grapes, but...it's just...haha! So, I'm watching the 'Stros/Cards game on Fox and I heard the announcers say something about the Yanks/Sox game where, apparently, Mike Lowell was running to second to break up a double play and he hit the POUNCE~! on Robinson Cano before he went in. What was that all about? Cuz he got hit last nite or because he's a grinder?
