TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 No FOX or ESPN games for me this week...dynamo!
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 The number one prospect in baseball now might be the Brewers' Yovani Gallardo. He's 21 years old, and in AAA Nashville he's now 8-1 with a 2.14 ERA. 95 Ks and 21 walks in 67.1 IP, with just one home run allowed.
vivalaultra Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 How's Homer Bailey doing in the minors so far? I heard he's coming up this week.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 I did at the Stadium (on April 25th!)
Craig Th Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 I tried to be fair this year and not vote for so many Red Sox. As of 5/30, Cano is leading for 2nd base which is complete bull. There is no way he should be an all-star.

There is no way he should be an all-star. Who else then? There's no clearly established star at second base and Cano nearly won a batting title last year.
Cheech Tremendous Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 I'd vote for Brian Roberts or Dustin Pedroia. BJ Upton and Placido Polanco have cases as well.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 Like I wrote last year, the voters are aiming for a moving target. Think the All-Star game is all about this season only? A month ago Ian Kinsler would have been the right pick. Now he's hitting .239. Voters looking for the best current talent are split between Pedroia and Brian Roberts (Roberts is better, Sox fans). People get too worked up over All-Star picks. It's better off being a popularity contest, because at least fans get players they want to see.

There is no way he should be an all-star. Who else then? There's no clearly established star at second base and Cano nearly won a batting title last year. As of right now Brian Roberts would be a solid choice. Very good start to the season so far and has a decent track record. I think the last time I cared enough to vote for the All-Star team was stuffing the ballot box for Jason Giambi in 2000.
World's Worst Man Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 I tried to be fair this year and not vote for so many Red Sox. As of 5/30, Cano is leading for 2nd base which is complete bull. There is no way he should be an all-star. Who else then? There's no clearly established star at second base and Cano nearly won a batting title last year. Aaron Hill and BJ Upton would both be more deserving, based on the numbers this year. Though I don't expect the former to even be a managerial pick, and I would doubt if the latter is either.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 Hill slugged .385 and .386 the last two years. Upton was in AAA before this year. I honestly don't think a player should be an All-Star after 50-60 games, unless they've made a ridiculous case for it.
vivalaultra Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 I wrote in Hunter Pence at every position. Kid should be an All-Star. Totally.
Cheech Tremendous Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 I disagree with you Al. I think the All-Star game should be a small reward for players who've succeeded in the first half. Who cares if it's a small sample size. It's a meaningless game anyways.
World's Worst Man Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 Cano's one good year doesn't prove to me that he's a commodity though. I think guys should get in based on this year's performance, with a some preference towards established stars, as long as those stars aren't having downright poor years (hi, Bobby Abreu).
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 Cano's had 2 good years.
World's Worst Man Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 I'd call his 2005 above-average rather than good. Certainly nothing that would say to me he was a prime-time player.
Cheech Tremendous Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 Cano's had 2 good years. This is news to me. 2006 only counts as one year.
Bored Posted June 5, 2007 Author Report Posted June 5, 2007 The A's reallllllllllllllllly need Huston Street and Justin Duchscherer back. Having Alan Embree as your best available option at closer right now is just sad as he blows one against the Sox tonight. I feel bad for Dan Haren, who granted isn't going to have an ERA under 2 all year but he does have the potential to make a run at the Cy Young but with a bad offense and a bad bullpen it's tough to pick up those writer friendly wins. This series is going to be ugly if the A's don't pull it out as a Haren/Tavarez match up looked like a near lock for a win. Edit: Well that ended up being quite the ballgame, Chavez hits a walk off in the 11th for the win. Mark Ellis hit for the cycle.
Vern Gagne Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 Twins really need Joe Mauer back in the lineup. The offense is starting to sputter, and they miss his presence in the lineup.
Mik Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 Biggest NL All Star injustice? Hanley isn't even in the top 5 of the SS voting! Blasphemy!
Brett Favre Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 I disagree with you Al. I think the All-Star game should be a small reward for players who've succeeded in the first half. Who cares if it's a small sample size. It's a meaningless game anyways. So what's the big deal?
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 In today's "Where Are They Now?" segment, former Warren Cromartie is set to become a professional wrestler, competing against either Tiger Jeet Singh or Abdullah the Butcher in Japan.
Failed Bridge Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 Polanco would be my vote for second base on the All Star team
Guest Smues Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 It's a meaningless game anyways. No way man, THIS ONE COUNTS!
CanadianChris Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 In today's "Where Are They Now?" segment, former Warren Cromartie is set to become a professional wrestler, competing against either Tiger Jeet Singh or Abdullah the Butcher in Japan. Really? Wow. I remember watching him with the Expos as a kid. He was the "other guy" in the OF alongside Raines and Dawson.
treble Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 Awesome, Jays score 6 in the bottom of the 9th against the Rays to win 12-11. Winning on a walk-off walk by Aaron Hill. Halladay got his ass kicked, though.
Failed Bridge Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 This season has been ridiculous in terms of 5+ run comebacks in the 9th.
