Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2007 Homer Bailey finally debuts tonight. I'm quite excited/terrified.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2007 Pfft. He shouldn't be suspended at all. It's not like he kicked Mark Wegner or anything. Yeah, he'll probably appeal it. I'm just glad it wasn't for more games; it looks like Berkman's starting to heat up a bit. He showed up on the field again after getting tossed from a game (during the brawl). That should cost him something.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2007 Sunday I'm going to catch Trenton/Reading. Matt Maloney is pitching for the R-Phils, while the starter for the Thunder is Yankee prospect Ian Kennedy. Kennedy.

And besides, that was the best brawl of the last 50 years...so...yeah.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2007 Not gonna bother with the draft thread but the Os drafted Sam Perlozzo's son Eric with the 1,055th pick..yeah.. Im probably going to the Os/Rockies game on Sunday..its Cal Ripken Bobblehead day and Bedard's pitching.

Im probably going to the Os/Rockies game on Sunday..its Cal Ripken Bobblehead day and Bedard's pitching. Quite common. The Rockies drafted Mike Gallego's son Nick. At a certain point teams are just filling out their minor league rosters and you get some names like that. Nothing to get worked up over.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2007 Soriano with three homers in his first three at-bats. Surely the Braves have someone other than Lance Cormier to start games. When you walk the Cubs six times in less than four innings, you probably shouldn't be pitching in the majors.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2007 Lance Berkman got ejected again a few minutes ago. He objected to a called third strike that was above his neck. However, he did not throw his ballbag at the umpire this time.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2007 Sunday I'm going to catch Trenton/Reading. Matt Maloney is pitching for the R-Phils, while the starter for the Thunder is Yankee prospect Ian Kennedy. Kennedy. Nicely done...I believe he was their first round pick last year. Nice to see that he's advanced to AA ball already.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2007 Well, Homer performed as expected. Solid but with some issues. He was quite impressive getting out of the jam in the 5th inning with bases loaded.
Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2007 Looks like Josh Beckett is going to be going to 9-0 because Doug Davis is getting lit up tonight. He's surrendered 5 runs on five hits in just four innings. For a better comparison, Davis has faced 23 batters and thrown 90 pitches versus Beckett's 14 batters and 49 pitches. Red Sox currently lead the D-backs 5-1.

devo 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2007 I didn't expect the Mets to go into Detroit and win tonight after being swept at home by the Phils, and I sure as hell didn't expect Sosa to pitch eight scoreless while allowing only four hits. Really nice victory.
Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2007 When all is said and done in Arizona, Boston demolishes the Diamondbacks 10-3. Boston turned the opening innings into batting practice and never looked back. J.D. Drew led the way offensively with a career-high 7 RBI's with two three run home runs. Beckett picks up his ninth win of the year to improve to 9-0 with an impressive 8 inning, 5 hit, 2 earned run, and eight strikeout performance. One of the only few Boston games I've gotten to see all year and they looked damned impressive. I can see why they are tearing up the AL East this year. I will say that I don't find the coverage of the Arizona games by their Fox Sports affiliate to be very good. Defensive switches happen all over the field and they don't even bother to tell you which pisses me off since I like to keep score as I watch the games. By the way, has anyone filled out an All-Star ballot yet and who are you voting for?
World's Worst Man 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2007 Oh motherfucker. I really hope Accardo doesn't fall apart and go back to being a 5.00 ERA pitcher.
Bored 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2007 In the A's/Giants game right now the Giants have run out of position players and their back up catcher Eliezer Alfonzo has just be forced out of the game with a knee injury after a collision at the plate. Third baseman Pedro Feliz is now in at catcher, Randy Winn is playing 3rd, and pitcher Noah Lowry is going to right field.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2007 It's official. Freddy Garcia sucks.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2007 Well it isn't like he is having arm trouble or anything (oh, he is? shoulder problems? ruhrohrorge)...It is a shame after he was thoroughly checked out before making the deal and giving up arguably the system's top prospect (what's that...they took the White Sox word for it that a guy with a lot of innings and decreasing FB velocity was ok? come on, no one would be that stupid right....right). Hindsight is one thing, I liked the deal because I gave up on Floyd so Gio-Garcia was reasonable. But that was on the assumption he was healthy, an assumption the Phils didn't have to make. Would Chicago have pulled out of the deal or something if we requested an MRI and if that did happen not much of a red flag is it? At least Garcia has the right attitude about it Meanwhile, Floyd is 3-3 with a 3.86 ERA in 10 starts for triple-A Charlotte and Gonzalez is 4-3 with a 3.05 ERA in 12 starts for double-A Birmingham. But now Garcia at least is acknowledging the possibility of season-ending surgery. "Whatever is good for me - I know I'll be a free agent this year," Garcia said. vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2007 I didn't see it, but I heard Clemens gave up 3 runs over 6 innings. I saw that he had thrown damn near 50 pitches through the first two innings. I can't wait till he goes up against the Sawx or the Tigers or some other AL team.

Bored 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2007 A's made an interesting move today as they sold off useless back up catcher Adam Melhuse to the Rangers and called up catcher of the future Kurt Suzuki. Suzuki definately has the defensive chops but I don't think he's ready to hit Major League pitching and since Jason Kendall is the "clubhouse leader" and "backbone of the team" I don't think he'll be playing everyday. They're playing it up as Kendall will be mentoring Suzuki but Kendall is a bit of hard ass so I don't know how much "mentoring" he'll be willing to do before being sent to the glue factory after this season. Also this effectively kills any talk of Mike Piazza catching when he comes off the DL.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2007 I'd imagine it would be frustrating to have your favorite team play in a division where you see Andruw Jones in center over a dozen times a year. The old Jason Marquis is back, by the way. Only two earned runs today, but he gave up six and didn't make it out of the second. And the runs were unearned because of an error he made to start the second. I didn't expect him to pitch like he did in the first month of the season, but he's reverted back to the kind of pitcher who makes you uncomfortable even when he's making outs. Guest George's Box Report post Posted June 10, 2007 Cubs lose, Astros win, and now I have to be a temporary White Sox fan tomorrow, as I don't want Houston to sweep. AH YEH I TINK WE NEED AIRN ROWN AND DAIRN ERSTAD BOAT ON DA TEAM CUZ DEN WE'D HAIVE MORE FIRE AND PASSION DEN ANYBODY ELSE IN DA LEAGUE. GRINDERBALL!
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2007 I knew you were a closet Erstad fan. How can anybody not be an Erstad fan? He was a punter for the 'Huskers, don't ya know? Punter is the grittiest position in football, much like crappy centerfielder that runs into walls and flops around the outfield like the fish in that Faith No More video is the grittiest position in baseball. Guest George's Box Report post Posted June 10, 2007 I prefer the term "Grinderstad." Can you imagine a team of twenty-five Grinderstads? *sigh* http://www.suntimes.com/sports/slezak/4029...darin27.article This is why I laugh when people complain about Jay Mariotti. There are at least three sportswriters at the Chicago Sun-Times that are even worse than he is.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2007 I love the mental image of Darin Erstad flopping himself onto the outfield grass, the grass scowling up at him as if to say 'Hey, man! Take it easy!!' and Erstad bending down slightly to lovingly rub Grass, shrugging his shoulders and saying, "Hey...I'm just playing baseball."
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2007 Seems I've been banned from NYYFans yet again for "player bashing." I guess they're too senstive over there when someone critizises the fact that Clemens was nowhere to be seen after he left the game after 6, since I said he was probably on a plane back to Houston the moment he left the dugout. Bunch of uptight faggot pussies on that forum. I also got warned the other night for shit talking on Kyle Farnsworth, even though everyone else in the official Farns thread was doing the same thing.
