Taker666 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 The show started with a dark match, pitting the Dalton's (Festus and Jesse) defeating Mike Mondo/Nick Nemeth (Formally of the Spirit Squad). Jesse got the pin with a frog splash. In the second dark match, Chuck Palumbo beat Paul Burchill (who came to the ring dressed like a ninja and then unmasked) with his finisher. On to Smackdown, Batista beat Domino in the first match. I was about 8 feet from where they come out and that Batista pyro is the loudest thing you will ever hear. Mark Henry won a squash and a druid appeared after the match, signaling the return of the Undertaker is upon us. Torrie Wilson vs Victoria (I forget the ending but Kenny Dykstra and Jimmy Wang Yang interfered, Michelle McCool returned as well). We then thought we were being treated to the returning Rey Mysterio, but it ended up being Chavo Guerrero dressed as him. Chavo cut a promo as Rey, until eventually defeating Eugene. MVP cut a promo from WWE head quarters as he was not in Youngstown. Matt Hardy beat Finlay by count out after interference from Hornswoggle and Jamie Noble. Kane beat the crap out of Finlay backstage. Kane beat the returning Sylvan. After the match. Finlay destroyed Kane with the shlaylee (sp?) Chris Masters did an open Masterlock Challenge. One big hometown dude accepted but after he told Masters that he was fresh out of prison, Masters picked someone smaller and destroyed him. Main event: Great Khali beat Ric Flair (Batista also got beat down for his troubles). After that it was ECW. CM Punk was very over with the Youngstown crowd and probably had the biggest pop of the night, followed by Batista, What we thought was Mysterio, Matt Hardy and Kane. Biggest heat was Finlay or Chavo. Match of the night was Punk vs. Morrison, crowd was way into it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WOW, Taker seems to be coming back sooner rather than later. anyways, sounds like a good show. Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 Another report: Dark matches The Dalton Brothers b ? Chuck Palumbo b Paul Burchill Smackdown Batista b Deuce Khali & Ranjin Singh did an interview on the screen. They showed a clip which was supposed to be Khali destroying people, but instead it was clip of Hornswoggle screwing with Jamie Noble. It appeared to be a mistake because Khali & Singh didn't sell it so it'll be corrected in post-editing Chavo Guerrero comes out to Rey Mysterio's music and makes fun of him Chavo Guerrero b Eugene with the frog splash Mark Henry b ? - More clips of Undertaker being beaten down and a druid came out, I guess to signify Undertaker on the way back Victoria b Torrie Wilson. After the match, Michelle McCool attacked Victoria Matt Hardy b Finlay - Hornswoggle tried to interfere but Jamie Noble chased him away Finlay is yelling at Noble and slaps a drink out his hand. The drink goes all over Kane. There's always somebody walking by backstage in WWE. Kane attacked Finlay Kane b Sylvan. So much for the Sylvan/Maryse gimmick with a push Chris Masters does a Masterlock challenge to someone out of the crowd. A guy comes out saying he was a football and wrestling star who just got out of jail. Masters sends him away and picks another guy and puts him down Khali b Flair. Post mach beatdown and Batista made the save Dark match Khali b Batista via DQ when Flair hit Khali with a chair ----------------------------------- A classic storyline revisted
Mad Scientist 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 I'm getting confused...Hornswoggle is strangely over as a face right now. He's getting face pops for all the stuff he's doing with Noble. Yet Finlay is obviously staying heel...how are they working this? On the plus side, this has led to more Noble matches. I love that Fireman's Double Knee Gutbuster he's doing as a finisher. This angle with Hornswoggle does piss all over the CW Championship, but it is damn funny to watch. Noble's expressions are great. He's no William Regal, but he's a reasonable substitute. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 Hey at least TNA is trying to come up with new match ideas, even if they are ridiculous matches. Not just have Mark Henry squash jobbers and Chris Masters doing the Masterlock Challenge 2 years past its due date.
RedJed 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 Yeah bitching about TNA doing a new kind of garbage match has nothing to do with the fact that Smackdown is getting extremely monotonous with their shows lately. I dont know if their roster is this small, but it feels like nothing "creative" is done on this show anymore, and things just keep repeating over and over week by week. This is the 1st show Finlay has been on since Hornswoggle won the belt. Hornswoggle usually gets face pops, and they really haven't done anything differently w/ Finlay because of it, so I imagine it'll stay the same. As for the CW belt, the rumor/news is that they're going to kill off the CW belt in favor of a X-Division-type deal, so that's why Hornswoggle won it. And I prefer Noble's Tiger Bomb to the gutbuster thing.

Another positive thing about Noble is that he's one of the few cruiserweights that doesn't do the overblown spotfests; he consistently delivers with some serious mat wrestling and good psychology. That damn bulldog entrance is getting old though. Shouldn't that gimmick be gone with his partner Kid Kash? Give him some nice white trash southern rock theme music and let him wrestle, dammit. That's my second favorite Regal move. The first was that half nelson suplex thing he did to RVD at WrestleMania X8 when RVD missed a spin-kick.

Downhome 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2007 Is Batista actually smaller, or is it just an illusion because he's in there with Khali?
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2007 It seems to me like they are already sorta burying Batista here and it's a foregone conclusion he's jobbing to Khali. He and Flair already have a ready made feud with D & D over the tag belts and the right to nail Cherry. Here's what they need to do: UT comes back, beats the crap out of Henry at Unforgiven. This gets him into title consideration at No Mercy where he beats Khali to end that experiment. At that point it really all depends on when Edge is healthy and back on SD. If he's back in time I'd build to UT vs. Edge at WM, with Edge jobbing obviously.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2007 If Taker is coming in Mania champion, I'd rather he jobbed to Edge.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2007 UT isn't jobbing to Edge at WM under any circumstances. Good grief, haven't we discussed that topic enough over the past 2 years? What with all these theories that Edge would win the MITB and pin UT after the main event at WM....I mean yeah it did kinda happen but thankfully not that exact night. Okay fine, would you rather them keep the belt on Khali till WM and have UT beat him then? It's probably the easiest thing to book.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2007 Not really. I think Taker needs to lose once at Mania before hanging it up. I don't care what you debated or what other Taker fanboys might think, this is better for the business than to have Taker retire with it intact. Besides, that's immaterial to what I said. Your scenario had Taker winning the title sometime before Mania, presumably in the fall, then carrying the belt through past Mania, including a high profile win over the YOUNGER GUY WITH MORE UPSIDE AT THIS POINT, Edge. That's something I would never sign off on.

Chalmation 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2007 edge does not need the rub that beating undertaker at mania would provide if i want to see undertaker lose at wrestlemania next year, i want to see it be a non-title match to MVP or Matt that elevates one of them to the world title picture if they're not there by then
The Truthiness 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2007 Nobody could live up to the expectations that comes with beating Taker at mania, right now. The best scenario is have Taker keep the streak, retire, then defend his streak every year at mania. Then when he finally does lose it, it might actually mean something, and not be a mere Shock moment, that people will forget in a month.

The best scenario is have Taker keep the streak, retire, then defend his streak every year at mania. Then when he finally does lose it, it might actually mean something, and not be a mere Shock moment, that people will forget in a month. You know retiring would mean that he wouldn't wrestle anymore. However, wrestling isn't one to take retirement seriously is it?
haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2007 I agree that 'Taker's streak should be given to someone that can truly capitalize on the rub. Am I wrong in that this is the last big rub that's left in wrestling? Its a career-making accomplishment for someone to be able to say that they ended Undertaker's Wrestlemania streak. Reserve it for someone that has many years left in them.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2007 Taker's streak won't give anyone any rub. It'll just be a fancy moniker to run into the ground more and more pathetically with each passing year while the owner is mishandled, ala Chris "First Undisputed Champion" Jericho or any of the "ECW Originals". UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2007 I'll put $1,000 up that says Edge will never pin Taker at WrestleMania. Donatable to the board. The 'E knows that Edge will just pull a groin a month after this historic win. Taker/Cena is now the logical match for WM, no titles involved.
