Quarterback. I know it's not that realistic, but I'm speaking in terms of what we've gotten as far as a player-oriented mode is concerned in sports games. Obviously it's a matter of opinion, and people are going to prefer different things. I will point out that the player progression is not really that different from the real games' progression. One year you have someone like Ben Roethlisberger rated in the mid 70s, when he comes out of college. Next year when the next Madden is released, Roethlisberger is at 88, due to his rookie season success.

Well, Madden was finally released over here - even if it was only 7 copies of the game delivered to the store for release day despite having 13 preorders for it. I have no idea why so few were sent, but I was thinking bad things. Overall I'm really happy with it, I was getting a bit pissed off with all the INTS I was throwing, but then I read that you actually control where abouts you throw the ball in this game with the left thumb stick. So ever since I've found that out, I've been able to throw the balls over shoulders and out of the CB's reach which feels cool.

 

Had to laugh at Pacman Jones not appearing in the game, and Michael Vick being benched.

Online on the 360 is cool, especially when you beat Americans and they call you a cheating bitch. All I did was call a review of a play that wasn't a fumble, which led to a winning touchdown play on the next drive.

Alright, so just got this game, and I've played for about 5 minutes so far. And, Holy shit, am I the only one who could smoke the Running Back mini game last year, but think it's absolutely impossible this time around??

 

Maybe it's just a first impression thing, and I'm not used to it yet, but it just seemed like I couldn't even cross the fucking bags. As soon as I got to the line all three dudes just hit me. (Guess the blocker didn't do much of anything) and i'm on All Pro...but it just seems that way, damn.

 

edit- and is everyone not able to do "everything"? As I was typing this, a loading screen came up that said a speed guys special ability was 'RT, Speed burst' does this mean guys without the speed thing can't speed burst?

 

And funnily enough, my first offensive play in my first game is a 60 yd TD run >_>

I Dont have many problems with this game but my biggest problem is the game not punishing ignorant plays. Im getting really tired of people throwing into double/triple coverage and having guys like Moss or Steve Smith catching it.

There is a glitch when it comes to safeties. I've had two safeties and they marked it on the 1 yard line.

Recieved my Wii copy in the post yesturday. It's pretty good but the controls will take some getting used too. I'm guessing they have de-evolved the amount of shit in the Franchise mode i.e the radio show/ newspapers etc from '07, or is it just because I'm in preseason?

No, they've removed it - at least on the 360 version. I can't even see where I'm suppose to set ticket prices or build my stadium like it suggests on the back of the box.

I was one of the people saying stats didn't really matter (because people were complaining about how many rushing yards guys get) but, even though that's not so bad, it seems every other game in my Franchise, the scores like 41-40.

 

And here I am, playing 3 minute quarters, so I'm just thinking damn....they're getting way to much time, and I thought it previous games you could change it. But yea, not sure.

....umm games are made in disc form now not cartridge form so you can only save game settings to your system. So unless he rented a catridge form of Madden 08, it's kinda impossible that someone screwed around with the settings of the game and the settings stayed the same when he rented it.

I too deleted my profile yesterday. Pissed me the fuck off.

 

 

I found the power option play in Atlantas play book and when I put in DJ Shockly with Noorwood, the game just gets ugly. Noorwood more than Dunn because he seems to truck people alot better and has pretty much the same break away speed.

 

Although you would never be able to run the option in the real NFL, I am slaughtering peopl with it on here.

And a question of my own, can you have more then one Franchise? I was trying to start a new one (different team, higher difficulty) but whenever I try and save, it says I'll overwrite, and I see no way to rename it, Franchise2 or something.

I think it might be because he is so far ahead in his franchise too. Alot of games have issues when you get deep into franchises for some reason which is why the problems get missed.

Man...FUCK this game on All-Madden. Tis' bullshit I tell thee. I just lost 58 to fucking 0. Zero. Granted, I was using the Texans, but still, that shit is ridiculous.

 

How about Grossman finishes 11 of 13, while Griese finishes 10 of 12. One missing, because it hit a linemen in the back of the head, and the other because I pretty much dove at a receiver right before he got it, and it caused him to drop. Meanwhile, I finish 6 of 14, and 4 of 16. What the fuck. Most of my passes, which hit the receiver..and I mean just that, perfect pass, one on one, and the ball just hits the fucker straight in the chest as he watches it fall. Or, the few times they did catch it, juggled lose, whether it be by barely being touched, or getting the fuck knocked out of him. (Tillman killed my guys) Oh yea, I can't forget the 4 interceptions I threw, compared to the 1 I got (Don't worry...of course, he fumbled it)

 

I also had 2 other fumbles, both on the same play, where Green drops it, then we cause them to fumble...and then we drop it again! Again, bullshit.

 

Oh, and their rushing. Lol. How about they break every fuckin tackle? If we weren't gang tackling, then we weren't tackling, because both Benson, and Dayne (Trade) just ran right through our guys. With, and without hitstick. I understand it makes you easier to knock off if the hitstick doesn't work, but once I had to resort to normal tackling...he dragged my guys at least ten yards each time, until someone was able to jump in and help! (What's the point of having the Hit and Highlight stick if you can't use them!?) Oh yea, punt returners do it to evidently, since they had a touchdown where the guy broke four tackles! And I'm just sitting here dumbfounded like what am I supposed to do?

 

Can't forget, they early jump every fucking play! And yes, I know this post is essentially pointless, but I need to vent, and I'm sure the people in my dorm are tired of hearing me yell obscenities. (And I know there are people out there who say that even on All-madden, this game is way to easy for them...well, fuck you guys. Because I found that shit impossible) And although I wanted a challenge on this franchise..I didn't want to feel like the computer was playing me on Easy! What the hell.

 

AHH! Definitely going down to All-Pro. Fuck you Madden.

 

edit- Second game (Yea, I didn't want to just wuss out and quit after one game) First play...neat little four yard run, where pretty much the whole defense tackles me. Fine. Second play? Interception!...but that's ok, we get a good hit and knock the ball lose...fumble on them...what happens? My guy flys right over trying to pick it!...Doesn't touch it at all, just jumps over it, and they get it back.

Even on all-pro this game is nuts. Granted I am playing as the Cardinals but their offensive line isn't as bad as it is on this game. And Allah! the fumbles and interceptions! Some games I am lucky if Lienart could throw the ball into the ocean while standing in it.

I'm still leery on picking it up since everything I see, people are ripping it and saying it isn't as good as other iterations.

 

I was ready to be amazed that anyone could get that far. because i have played every game of two seasons and I am at the second teir.

 

And to me, this is the best madden in a while. It has its flaws, but it is still a damn good game.

 

And the first season using my franchise, Vick had the yards but had 30 touchdowns and 21 INT's with a passing percentage of around 50 percent. This season I am up to around 70 percent passing with alot less INT's because I am learning the quirks of the game and when and where to go to certain plays.

 

I haven't fumbled out side of a missed pitch since the first couple of days playing the game. RB people...cover the ball.
