I'm glad I came online prior to ordering the replay. Their match last month had me pumped to order this month to see the rematch.

I can't believe they actually put the belt on Batista on THIS seemingly lame duck PPV. I didn't bother watching it tonight since I assumed Rey was merely the job boy tonight and Khali would retain.

Why the hell would they job Beth Phoenix to Candice tonight? Doesn't anyone study their Sting and Vader booking? That was obviously the time where Vader/Beth just beats the piss out of Sting/Candice in dominant fashion and takes the title.

That Cena/Orton booking sounds truly bizarre, at least the last part of it. Am I to assume that the Last Man Standing match will end in a lame double knockout, setting up a HIAC or something to blow it off?

More than likely, since Cyber Sunday is supposed to have Cena/Orton HIAC, I believe.

So for those who saw this tonight, is it the worst ppv of the year as Meltzer was saying? I didnt even bother ordering.

It wasn't bad. Better than Vengeance.

While I see the point behind comparing Beth and Candice to Vader and Sting, it's a sad day to think this is the first time I've seen a feud compared to sting/vader.

This was the perfect time for a Mysterio win with the monsters canceling each other out. No better image than Rey dropping the dime after Bats spinebuster or spear and scoring the win. It would have made this PPV better tenfold.

I agree, but Batista had to win. This would have marked his, what, 8th title match loss in a row? He lost to Taker twice, tied once, Edge 3 straight, ad hasn't been able to beat Khali since he started chasing him when Edge got injured. It was cool that Rey didn't take the pin, and that's the best we could ask for. You will NEVER see a Mysterio title win again other than the one you make happen on Smackdown vs. Raw. Batista winning wasn't half the moment Rey shocking the world again would have been, but he flat out had to win.

Kind of a dick move considering Rey had to go through a tournament and win, beating Dave himself, only to have to move over for Dave to get in the match ANYWAY and take the title. Some friend.

This was a pretty flat PPV really, I fell asleep watching it live, and fell asleep watching on playback. Wasn't very engaging at all, and having just watched Kevin Sullivan on Guest Booker, it was funny to see WWE not have the Title in the Main Event of the PPV - something that Sullivan layed into saying that the title should always be the Main Event and most important thing.

A trashed hotel room, bags with shit in and some pissed off Divas are probably asking the same question.

Nah Vengence nudges by only having one shocker (D&D match). The main-event of this was awful, overall it was even worse than JD, the GAB, or anything else this year.

At least he didn't get the belt like Batista, I wonder what would it take for Orton and Batista to get themselves suspended? Child pornography? Murder? Terrorism?

A Dungeon and Dragons match? Batista rolls 2 d12 and passes the Wellness Policy

Correct

So, it's safe to assume that they will build up the fued a bit more and blow it off with like... A No DQ match, or a Cage match, or something of the sort?

Do you think Orton will go over in the blow off, or will Cena retain to get screwed @ Survivor Series... which seems to be the smarky favourite!

The PPV was pretty bad, though whether it was the worst of the year is down to personal preference. There was nothing of note at all on the show that would get people to watch it again. The SD title match was bad, but without Rey in there it would have been worse. Batista winning the title was a minor surprise, though another loss in a title match might not have done Batista any good. I don't know if the Cena/Orton match was the worst title match of his career, but it was bad, and Cena looked liked he had regressed back to being a rookie. His offense looked bad, and his punches were horrible. I thought their match last month was really good, near the **** level, and for them to come back with a match that was barely above a DUD is amazing. I can only assume that with it being a B show and the match having a DQ finish, the effort wasn't there when putting the match together. The highlight was easily the crowd being heavily into Orton, especially when the angle to set up the match was designed to get Cena over into a sympathetic babyface. Undertaker/Mark Henry wasn't much better, and it was really telling that the crowd popped big for Undertaker's entrance and then sat on their hands for the match, only reacting for the finish.

Yeah no kidding. What was the point of giving Rey the title shot to begin with if Batista was going to get another title shot? I don't even know why Batista had to go through the tournament. I thought DQs automatically constitute a rematch?

Shock value I guess. That's what I hate about PPVs nowadays. People pay hard earned money to see title changes and that doesn't happen. Seems like we get more title changes on free TV these days.

I'll be amazed if Orton wins the title next match. If he does, its completely pathetic because it shows Cena has to be sooooo protected, he won't lose the title via pinfall. Where's Bob Orton when you need him? Maybe he'll help his son win the title by clocking Cena with the cast.

Quick question. Does anyone (Smart or Not) see Undertaker v Mark Sexual Guerrilla Henry

a Main Event? Were kids like f*ck this Cena match get on to Daaaa UndaaaTakaaaaaa!

If undertaker can Main Event a PPV w/ no title on the line somewhere Flair can be booked

into a strong program?!

What non Title matches have headlined a WWE / WCW PPV and been worse?

It's happened before (like the Undertaker vs. Dudleys match where they killed Paul Bearer, or HHH vs. HBK in the Cell while Benoit defended the belt against Kane), but it's usually a Hogan thing. Hogan got the main event in Wrestlemania 8, Summerslam 2005, and any number of WCW ppvs despite not having the belt at the time.

EDIT: as for "what non title main events were WORSE", two specifically come to mind: Goldberg vs. Kronik and Hogan/Rodman vs. DDP/Malone.

Undertaker vs. Undertaker at Summerslam '94 takes the cake for me, since it followed a 30 minute World Title cage match.

I think there are situations where you put the non-title match on last. Generally if you're doing a big blowoff match, say a non-title cage match.

I was there live. Pretty disappointing. I was hoping for Cena/Orton to carry the show. I loved what we got of it, though. Pissed off Cena has always been a guilty pleasure I guess. About a quarter of the audience left after Taker's entrance. I like both guys, but putting Taker and Henry on last was really stupid. They should have just put the happy ending triple threat on last instead.

Saw this show on Sunday, it was a pretty flat show. Some of the moves were questionable and left me scratching my head. Title match 2nd last, Triple H as close to curtain jerking as possible, Taker going LAST, and Batista winning the belt. This is definately one of the weaker shows of the year.
