Burning Pirate Ship Sex Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 I think blood may be dripping out of my ears..
Guest WhackingCockDick Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Did we ever receive a satisfactory explanation as to why Marvin, whose heart is so fragile he can't work out, managed to drink those rockstars without any health complications? Yes, they were on sale. lol
Guest Vitamin X Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 The Marvin situation wouldn't be so bad if everyone didn't trip over themselves to call him an idiot. People need to learn the power of the ignore button. Here's the problem with the ignore button: People don't and won't use it. I wholeheartedly agree with you, people do need to acquire that skill. However, people also need to start understanding the concept of not responding to someone who's obviously posting like an idiot, over and over again, which makes the ignore button utterly useless. We all remember how WP used to derail threads and made it so that it was impossible to just ignore him, or scroll past his posts because everyone was replying to him, therefore keeping that discussion going and just generally derailing threads? It's the same thing here, to a far lesser degree obviously, but it's still there. Then there's the whole additional temptation of "You ignored this poster but IF YOU JUST CLICK THIS ONE TINY LITTLE SIMPLE LINK YOU CAN SEE WHAT THEY SAID AND WHAT EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT" added in someone's post that you "ignored". The ignore function is really a failed social experiment; the best way to actually ignore what people do is when they've started posting less or not at all (Marney), changed their habits to be more tolerable (EHME), or just be gone altogether (Leena... we think). But instead of somehow attempting to get everyone at TSM to stop responding to Marvin, which is highly unlikely anyways, why not control the problem at its source? I gave up on the Braves when they did. Now I'm just desperately waiting for Saints football to begin. You're just set up for year-round disappointment, aren't you? The Gulag would be better if everyone could post in it when someone is sent there This is something that's being taken under consideration.

It's the same thing here, to a far lesser degree obviously, but it's still there. I agree with you. It's annoying seeing: Marvin: Glenn Beck The Orioles 15 posters: Oh, Marvin. You dumb. I'm probably guilty of this too, but come on guys. He's wrong, we know he is, move on. It's like when lovecraft used to follow c-bacon around whenever he made one of his insane posts. We get it. The ignore function is really a failed social experiment I only used it on razateca. It was beautiful. But instead of somehow attempting to get everyone at TSM to stop responding to Marvin, which is highly unlikely anyways, why not control the problem at its source? Because he's not really breaking any rules. He's just posting stuff that's questionable in its truthness and that a lot of people seem to disagree with. You're just set up for year-round disappointment, aren't you? I freely admit that my sports teams are not very good. Memphis-Kansas taught me that the odds of my teams winning anything ever is probably not happening. I think the Saints are going to win the NFC South though, which is good enough for me.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 I always found Cbacon to be hilarious, he was just so out there it was great.
bob_barron Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 I liked C-Bacon a lot too. He was really fun to debate and argue with. The people who wanted him banned were stupid. He also had the Lita is a Dumas sign at Summerslam 2004, which is awesome
Nighthawk Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 This is something that's being taken under consideration. Taken under consideration. Wellesley wellesley wellesley, if the darling city fathers haven't deigned to cluck their tongues, and stroke their beards, and talk about "What's to be done with this posting in the gulag?" Jag offs.
Matt Young Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 All this 'debate' over the Scramble Match is doing my head in already. If I post 'nobody fucking knows yet' every time someone asks the question in the next two weeks, would that constitute trolling or would I get special dispensation for preventing the 15 posts back and forth quoting something that gives absolutely no information either way? Actually, we do know, as WWE made the rules perfectly clear. It's just that people are stupid and suck at reading comprehension. I like Bruiser Brody and all, so I do not mean this as an insult to him. But fuck... When he- a chronic drinker whose brain cells are probably fried, and memory likely less than stellar- gets it and countless others don't (even after having it spelled out for them), that shows you what we're working with in the WWE folder.
Black Lushus Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 I like Bruiser Brody and all, so I do not mean this as an insult to him. But fuck... When he- a chronic drinker whose brain cells are probably fried, and memory likely less than stellar- but...it's a gimmick...it's not true...
Guest WhackingCockDick Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 I liked C-Bacon a lot too. He was really fun to debate and argue with. The people who wanted him banned were stupid. I really grew to appreciate C-Bacon. We agreed on several things. Can't remember what, exactly, but we overlapped on a few fringe-y things. Oh yeah, I remember, we both hated conformist pedagogy or something. Yeah, he'll always be welcome here.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 He has the potential to be a Canadian Unibomber I think.
Guest WhackingCockDick Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 And "Canadian Unibomber" has the potential to be the name of a new TSM member.
Matt Young Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 So I figured why not? Damn, you beat me to it.
BruteSquad_BRODY Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 I like Bruiser Brody and all, so I do not mean this as an insult to him. But fuck... See me in my Thread we need to talk
Angle-plex Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 I was reading through the Smackdown spoilers thread, and once the first person wrote a Mitch Hedburg line, I had to get the fuck out of there. Why are these people writing lines said by a comedian in that thread? Reading some random asshole post a random quote is not funny and bothers me because I have to scroll past all the shit to get to the relevant discussion.
DrVenkman PhD Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 I did give people a place to get that out of their system. Well, technically MVP did and they just ran wild so I re-named the thread.
Cheech Tremendous Posted August 29, 2008 Author Report Posted August 29, 2008 Even after all the mod changes and what not I'm glad to see that my "What's New At Circuit City?" subheading has survived. I wonder how many people in the folder actually get that joke.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 I did give people a place to get that out of their system. Well, technically MVP did and they just ran wild so I re-named the thread. And they're STILL "getting it out of their systems". I said all I had to say about Kendrick but I'd have liked to see an actual discussion about it, instead of it becoming a Hedburg thread full-on. This is probably a good time for someone to step in and say "Alright, that's good stuff, now let's get back to the point"...
bob_barron Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Who cares? The thread has veered so far off topic, let people have fun. If that's how the thread evolves, it's how it evolves.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Who cares? Clearly since I made a point to mention it...
bob_barron Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 That's not what I meant, but thanks! The thread evolved into a Mitch Hedberg jokefest. It happens.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 And once it evolves so far past off the original topic, you'd think it'd be moved elsewhere... perhaps the trash?
Scroby Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 And once it evolves so far past off the original topic, you'd think it'd be moved elsewhere... perhaps the trash? Or you know, instead of bitching about it, you could try to get it back on topic by talking about Kendrick. I'm just throwing that out there.
DrVenkman PhD Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Well, considering there were 10 posts about the "real" subject and 35 about Mitch Hedberg, getting back on track may have been difficult. Don't expect this "one person bitches so Heaven and Earth gets moved" shit in the future either - more people seemed to enjoy dicking around and having fun than discussing a jobber's role to prominence before his bodyguard becomes the real focal point, and fun is what it's all about. However, I was worried this will become an ongoing runner that may sully the upcomingUnforgiven thread (I don't think we need a reminder about "The SummerSlam games" fiasco), so I did something.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Maybe I took the TSM joke meme "TSM/messageboarding is serious business" a tad bit too seriously... I don't mind the jokes or anything, but when it gets way carried away, I do start to feel like "Ok really..."
Guest WhackingCockDick Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 There's a thread up there dedicated to nothing but reciting Mitch Hedberg lines? I'm going to delete it.
