So when is Claude Julian getting fired?

?

Why would he? Or is this some of that sarcasm that doesn't work over the internet.

Well, their GM whose name escapes me, has a habit of firing coaches before the playoffs start. I figured the Devils are at their slowest start in awhile, heads would start rolling soon.

I remember now.. Lou Lamerello. There is no job security if you are coaching under him.

Uh, Julien was fired last season, and is now coaching the Bruins. Brent Sutter is coaching the Devils, and I doubt he's getting fired only five games into a new contract.

Blackhawks do it again, and here's how: the Stars goalie (Steffen? Stephan?) had a 1-0 shutout going allowing a high-by-Chicago-standards 37 shots on goal (last I heard) until Lang scored on a 6-on-3 power play with one second left in the game. Hawks win it in overtime soon after, and there you have it. It was awesome. Another game that was a hell of a lot of fun to--ugh--listen to. Every game has been a one-goal win or loss thus far. I hope people start getting the message that it's safe to come back to the Blackhawks now.

I feel bad for Bob now. He's in town but couldn't make it to the game as planned.

Bruins stole one from the Sharks.

Bergeron scored on a nice play near the end of the first, kicking the puck to himself in traffic while being assaulted by Rob Davison. Then the Bruins didn't get a shot on goal for the entire second period. The Sharks tied it with 38 seconds, but the Bruins got a gift bounce off of a referee and scored with 11 seconds left.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

And they're now behind only Ottawa in the Northeast. Yes, I realise how early it is and all that.

Also interesting early, (and speaking of the Sens), Jason Spezza leads the league in points with 11. All of them are assists.

I'm convinced that the Kings need to send Bernier down before we kill this kid's development, and sign CuJo. Then CuJo will steal games like he did sometimes in Phoenix and everything will be all better.

Can't really blame him for last night. Detroit's top line is already producing at a scary level. Henrik Zetterberg is making a case for himself as the best player in the NHL.

Raycroft was awesome in goal for the Leafs tonight, though, he deserved a win. Too bad the Leafs defense (either team defense and defensemen) is a complete, disorganized pile of shit right now. The two highest paid defenders, McCabe and Kubina, are by far the worst on the team. No one thought the Leafs would be Cup contenders this season, but they should be better than these 4+ GA per game efforts if they're getting solid goaltending from Raycroft and Toskala (who's been absolutely burned by HORRIBLE defensive performances). I'm starting to wonder if it's a coaching problem.

It would help if they could just get Ponikarovsky, Wellwood, Bell, and Colaiacovo into the lineup, of course.

The OT winner into his own net wouldn't have pissed me off so much HAD HE NOT NEARLY DONE IT FIFTEEN MINUTES EARLIER!

Does he actually make 7.15 million a year? A Leafs fan I know insisted this, although I thought it was mid-high 5.

Fun fact I learned tonight on Sportscentre: The Leafs pay more money to defencemen than any team in the league. Over $21 mil this season.

Oh, and the Leafs are also giving up over 4 goals a game. That JFJ sure knows how to spot talent.

He makes 7.15 million this year. His cap number is 5.75 million.

The Habs blew a game that they should have won last night. I know they lost and all, but what do you say as a coach after that game? They pretty much played a perfect game; they just couldn't get the 2-0 goal on Vokun who played out of his mind.

On a positive note, the top line of Higgins, Koivu and Ryder are playing out of their minds. Given a few more bounces and they should put up some pretty big numbers if they keep working like they are right now.

Can't say I'm really surprised by that. The team seems to be going nowhere fast. Axe Waddell next and see if you can't bring some new blood in to make sense of what they are trying to do in Atlanta.

Bob Hartley is out in Atlanta, according to TSN. The Thrashers have started 0-6.

"Thrashers" is so ECHL it isn't even funny anymore.

So can we call him the most overpaid player in the league, now that Yashin's gone?

The Habs had no business losing last night, and I only saw the third period. They outplayed them in the first two as well, I guess?

Back from a long summer vacation. Finally...

Anyways, maybe I'm the only one, but every time I watch a game, I feel like the wheels are going to fall off the Red Wings. They play so damn well early on, but they are still playing that lazy third-period stuff against teams that aren't out of it. After watching both games against Chicago, I'm just worried: They obviously have the talent to be dominant, but they aren't playing like that.

And boy, the Ducks need some luck. Bert down, Schneider down, with Niedermeyer and Selanne watching on the sidelines. With all the rumors of a 'Clemens return' from either or both of them, I have no clue where I'd put them finishing right now.

Also, my condolences to King. It's sorry to see a team that I thought would rise up after making some interesting moves in the offseason. But there's plenty of games left in the season.

What in the fuck is wrong with the New York Rangers.

Their still the New York Rangers....

The Rangers are going to be fine, there's just no chemistry yet. There D has been great (Girardi, Tyutin and Staal have been fantastic, Rosival ok, and Malik has SUCKED ASS) it's just the offense has had trouble finishing and there's really no chemistry on the top two lines. Jagr hasn't fit with Drury so they put him back with Gomez. Betts is already back on the 3rd line because Renny refuses to give Dubinsky a chance. Cahallan and Prucha have both benn good. Henrik has been fantastic. I'm not worried, they'll improve pretty quickly.

I think 'holy shit' is the only way to describe that.

I'd laugh if it wasn't so sad.

There's plenty of time. All things considered, at least the GOALTENDING hasn't been the problem. Of all the things to be doing right, it's that.
