CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2007 If my memory serves (and it might not, I'm fairly hammered), Price allowed two against the Pens last time. If JIRI FUCKING TLUSTY can score two on Fleury, the entire Canadiens team can. One point at worst.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2007 Anyone see Chara-Koci last night? I'd read of it, but just saw highlights now. David Koci leaving the ice may have been the most disgusting thing I've ever seen, and I was a janitor for two years.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2007 Watching Fleury in net, I can't believe all the writers that said Pittsburgh was going to finish first in the East. I don't care how good Crosby is, you're not going to get far with an average defence and sub-par goaltending.

David Koci leaving the ice may have been the most disgusting thing I've ever seen, and I was a janitor for two years. That fight showed more tenacity than Chara showed all of last season. He'll be doing things like that every now and then.
Cartman 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2007 Speaking of most disgusting things ever seen... Patrice Bergeron just took a very dirty hit in the back into the boards resulting in him lying motionless on the ice. It's been a while and they are trying to immobilize him and get him on a stretcher. Really not good.

Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2007 Patrice Bergeron just took a very dirty hit in the back into the boards resulting in him lying motionless on the ice. Eh, I don't know if I'd call it "dirty". Randy Jones was committed to the hit, and Bergeron put on the brakes at the last second as he was leaning over. Bergeron kinda put himself in a bad position. Jones isn't a dirty player, and it's not like he took a run at the guy, so I'd call it more "unfortunate" and/or "dangerous" than I'd call it "dirty". The first thing they teach you is to not hit guys when they are in that position and in that spot on the ice. The Flyers organization is fucking bush league. Downie, Boulerice and now Jones. Something needs to be done. Although Jones should give the officials large amounts of cash for throwing him out of the game. He would have been annihilated by someone. Oh, Bergeron just regained consciousness at Mass General. The scariest moment in recent Bruins history: Here's the youtube.
Guest Gym Class Fallout Report post Posted October 27, 2007 They're just playing Philadelphia Flyers hockey again, like the good old days.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2007 Downie & Boulerice are goons, Jones isn't. It was an illegal & dangerous hit, and deserving of the major penalty, but there wasn't any intent to injure on the hit. He'll probably get suspended for a handful of games. Good to hear Bergeron seems to be doing OK.
Guest Report post Posted October 27, 2007 I'd love to pile on the Flyers, but that hit was completely clean. Bergeron put his head down, that was his fault entirely. That play (where a player is ridden into the boards on a dump in) happens numerous times during a game. Of course Jones is going to get suspended, though. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2007 New Jersey has their home opener tonight against Ottawa in their new arena. This may be the latest home opener in league history.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2007 ESPN says broken nose & concussion, and that Bergeron is moving all limbs.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2007 I wouldn't say it was clean. But it was a hockey play, not an out of the way dirty hit. Bergeron put himself in the position, but Jones did give the forearm shiver to the back. That said he better not get suspended if Volchenkov did not get suspended for this Jones doesn't have the history that Boulerice or Downie did and there was certainly no intent to injure. CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2007 I hope you all had your PVR's going. Jim Hughson just said in perfect Hughson voice "GREAT SAVE...SABOURIN". That's gotta be a first. I don't like the idea of Pittsburgh in a shootout. Edit: Penalty with a second and a half to play? The fuck? Double edit: I take the Hughson thing back. Nice looking glove on ex-Pen Kovalev. CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2007 Dig some stats up. Habs blow a 3-0 lead, shootout goes into eight rounds without a goal before Andrei Markov gets the winner. 0-15 has to be a first, even if half of the shooters did flub or go high/wide. CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2007 They really went 25 shooters without a goal? Jesus.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2007 That hit was not clean. FUCK THAT NOISE. Anyone who's ever played hockey at all can't honestly say that's clean. BACK OF HEAD. BOARDS. HMMM... 2 players down in 10 games vs. the Flyers. Fuck that.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2007 And it is a hit that happens at least once a week (see Volchenkov vid). So getting all pissed off that it was a Flyer who happened to hit Bergeron is silly. Players don't protect themselves in that position anymore, so this is becoming a more regular occurence. Also it was the Rangers/Capitals who went to 15 rounds in a shootout once. Needed to look up who it was against the Rangers, but it was finished by the sweet Marek Malik goal that he went between his own legs with. Oh, and Joffrey Lupul has been a godsend. Just thought he needed some love.
Darthtiki 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2007 Ducks let that one get away from them against the Oilers last night. Apparently, basic puckhandling needs to be stressed at practice.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2007 Blackhawks games will now be aired in Chicago starting on Nov. 11th. Plus they'll be in HD, which is a nice bonus to long-suffering fans. Pretty nice turnaround from Bill's death to this.
Guest Gym Class Fallout Report post Posted October 29, 2007 They were only able to shoehorn nine home games in, but it's a baby step, and they should have a larger slate for 08-09 when they can actually plan the schedule before the season. However, one of my worst fears happened: all this good news and great play started sparking interest, then they drop three in a row, one of which to the dogshit Thrashers, which knocked them all the way down to tenth place. Toews and Kane have been playing well, but it's the goaltending.
Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2007 Flames re-sign Kiprusoff I really don't see how they keep Phaneuf after this, and Langkow and Huselius might be tough as well. Still, media here thought it would be hard to lock up Iginla, Kiprusoff and Regehr long term so the fact that they got all three is surprising.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 Phaneuf's still a RFA. Unless someone comes in with a Vanek-type offer sheet, I don't see the Flames letting him walk.
Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 I have this feeling that the Oilers will do just that because he's from there and the fact it would piss off Calgary fans quite a bit. Even with Souray, I wouldn't put it past Lowe to do it.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 Jones got two games for his hit on Bergeron. I have to think he got it based on how vicious it looked. Incidentally, Nick Foligno took a very similar hit to the one Volchenkov gave out in the very same game, and there wasn't even a penalty on this one... AntiLeaf33 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 Well, the Leafs got the shit kicked out of them 7-1 last night by the Caps. As happy as this makes me, I'm really not looking forward to all of the Canadian sports networks spending half of their time talking about "Whats wrong with the Leafs?" treble 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2007 I was just watching the 1986-87 season review on the NHL Network (which I get now, for some reason) and had to laugh when Jacques Demers looked like he was reading notes during his acceptance speech when he won the Jack Adams. CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2007 Tie game! Higgins finally beats a solid Johan Hedberg on the PP, after Atlanta turned away to 5 on 3's in the third. The league's best powerplay against the league's second worst power play....I was getting a little edgy. But tie game with 90 seconds to play.
