That graphic just said Carmona gave up 44 earned runs in game 2. What a shitty pitcher.

McCarver and Buck were just intolerable tonight. Harping on Manny's comments and the non-HR along with the points Al raised before had me turning on the radio.....but then I had to deal with Glenn Geffner.

I can't win.

You cant win? YOu should be happy that the Red Sox won last night. They are in great shape going back to Boston and just having to win 2 games against the Indians. You have Schilling pitching game 6 and if you win,, you are facing Jack Westbrook in game 7.

The same "Jack" Westbrook who beat them in Game 3? I don't see how the Red Sox are in good shape. If they beat Carmona on Saturday then yes Game 7 is theirs for the taking, but Game 6 will be tough for them.

I know that. My point was that he shouldn't be complaining about anything when his team is in a very good posistion of making the World Series.

Jon Lieber practically shut down the Sox in Game 2 of the 2004 ALCS and then got shelled in game 6, so past performance is not a guarantee of future results

Also, the potential for this series to echo the 2003 NLCS is uncanny (Florida won game 1 and then dropped three straight before Beckett won Game 5)

Oh, for fuck's sake, are you serious? Really? All Red Sox fans are supposed to find Tim McCarver knowledgeable and witty just because their team won a game to avoid elimination?

Don't know if anyone caught this, but last night the Indians brought in Josh Beckett's ex-girlfriend to sing "God Bless America." I don't know if they did this to try and rattle him or if it was just a coincidence, but here was his response when questioned about it after the game.

"I don't get paid to make those fucking decisions. She's a friend of mine. Thanks for flying one of my friends to the game so she can watch it for free."

Did it really make you sick? Did it really? Get over it. Guy would still be a Red Sock if the front office and the fans didn't deem their players to be disposable.

Kevin Millar was disposable, both as a player and a person.

I missed
but it makes me sick. I think Millar forgot who he plays for..

How can you possibly be surprised? He's been pretty clear with his disdain for Baltimore since day one.

While he would maybe have put up better offense than Drew in RF this year, his defensive ability out there is horrid. His only other position was 1B and if you think he would play over Youkilis at all you're high. As for a bench role, well he made it clear he will not accept that without being whiny about it. So what should the Red Sox have done?

Very disposable despite the "Team Chemistry" angle.

Pros: J.D. Drew redeems himself with a huge grand slam in the first inning.

Cons: One game I finally stoked myself to get excited for, and it's 4-0 in the first inning. This postseason has really, truly sucked.

Cons, Part Two: Half an hour and there's one out in the bottom of the first. Jesus F'n Christ, does anyone play the game efficiently anymore? Five games this postseason have topped four hours. FIVE. Eleven have gone longer than three and a half. Only four games have come in under three hours.

It's apparent that the Indians' aces are gassed. If this keeps up and the Sox' pitching doesn't materialize, the Rockies will look really good heading into the World Series.

Taking pitches and making guys work isn't being efficient? For someone who claims to love baseball so much, I'd think you'd want to maximize the experience.

Maximizing the experience means playing doubleheaders. Making guys work is an efficient way to win ballgames. Taking time to consult with your catcher at least twice an inning is an inefficient way to play baseball.

It doesn't help that most nights I can not afford to stay up past midnight to watch a game. If the game started at 1pm, sure, take as much time as you want. But 10pm is a good time for a game to END on the east coast. Not be in the third inning.

My friends and I were just saying Gagne is definitely getting into this game. I guess we'll have Game 7, after all. And with the way these games have played out, I'll go into work Monday morning with four hours of sleep.

I finally completed my 2007 game log so I can make a comparison. I attended 50 live baseball games this year. The average time of those games was 2:45. Just 15 of those games ran longer than three hours. Only one game ran longer than three and a half. That game lasted 12 innings. I've been to two different games that saw 30+ runs scored combined. Neither of those lasted more than three and a half hours. I just can't understand why it should take four hours to play a goddamned baseball game that doesn't last at least 12 innings.
