DrVenkman PhD Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Never heard of it. Same thing happened with Diary of a Mad Black Woman. They must be advertising this SOMEWHERE but Hell if I'm aware of it. And hey, Rock only sinks to #2. Good for him.
Hawk 34 Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 I noticed it yesterday when I saw Clayton that black people had seemingly taken over the theatre to see that movie. I still don't know who Tyler Perry is.
King Kamala Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 What the hell!? I saw one ad for Why Did I Get Married? and it was in the papers the day it opened. I (like most white people I assume) really don't get the appeal of Tyler Perry.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 I've seen ads for it all over. Then again, it was mostly in NYC.
Richard Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Is Madea even in this one? Cause if Madea ain't in it, I don't give a rat's ass.
Brett Favre Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Tyler Perry sucks ass. I hate that guy.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Is Madea even in this one? Cause if Madea ain't in it, I don't give a rat's ass. He was on Sucker Free Countdown yesterday (I walked in the room while my brother was watching) and he said she isn't, but she'll be in his next movie.
Richard Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Damn she should be in all his movies. Madea's a total MILF(GMILF?).
Ginger Snaps Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Never heard of it. Same thing happened with Diary of a Mad Black Woman. They must be advertising this SOMEWHERE but Hell if I'm aware of it. And hey, Rock only sinks to #2. Good for him. It's black people. Black people love whatever piece of shit Tyler Perry puts out. It's like Adam Sandler and white people, I guess. Good for the Rock. It's made 60 million now, shouldn't that officially count as his first definitive big hit? I don't see any other family movies coming to knock it out of its niche until that awful Bee Movie is released.
Youth N Asia Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Scorpion King was his first big hit, honestly his only true hit movie...until this one\
Youth N Asia Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Heartbreak Kid has done a complete 180 in advertising. The first trailers showed the scenes with Ben and his wife in the movie, the newest ones show just scenes with Jerry Stiller and Rob Corddry, making it look like a buddy comedy.
Ripper Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Never heard of it. Same thing happened with Diary of a Mad Black Woman. Unlike that horrible sitcom that no one watched.
Ginger Snaps Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 I'm sure a little Jewish girl like me would hate them though. I'm so not in the key demographic.
DrVenkman PhD Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 I think Fresh Prince of Bel-Air or Family Matters was the height of me watching and enjoying something created for the black demographic... and I don't know if either of those even count.
Black Lushus Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 I'm sure a little Jewish girl like me would hate them though. I'm so not in the key demographic. "Funny, she doesn't LOOK druish.
RedJed Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 I hope We Own The Night holds up - it was really well done and much better than I expected it to be.
cabbageboy Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 From what I've seen of Tyler Perry's stuff he has no consistency in tone at all. One minute it's him in drag doing broad comedy, then it's a serious drug addict subplot, or a guy being paralyzed. When people criticize his movies for not being funny it's not really a legit complaint since I'm not sure his movies are really 100% comedy by any means.
Black Lushus Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 I haven't seen a single Tyler Perry movie..."black" movies tend to annoy me. Except "The Wood", that movie is great!
Black Lushus Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 don't be stupid Hawk, it's fairly obvious what a "black" movie is.
Hawk 34 Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 don't be stupid Hawk, it's fairly obvious what a "black" movie is. I got that, I was asking what would qualify as a "white" movie.
King Kamala Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 IMHO black cinema went down hill after House Party 2: The Pajama Jam. Sadly, I'm only half joking with that remark

Youth N Asia Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 What is a 'White' movie? Meet the Parents
Slayer Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 I was asking what would qualify as a "white" movie. Powder
Brett Favre Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Lol. Tyler Perry's stuff has way too much stereotype, and isn't funny.
fazzle Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 don't be stupid Hawk, it's fairly obvious what a "black" movie is. I got that, I was asking what would qualify as a "white" movie. Anything that involves swimming?
