Guest Report post Posted November 2, 2007 If the Kings leave Sacramento, I think they'd wind up in Seattle anyway. The NBA has this little go-round in circles thing goin' on. Not only that, once the Sonics leave Seattle, I think they'd be much more lax about building a new arena for a potential team, and who wants a new arena? The Maloofs. The Seattle Kings, harharhar Once the NBA can't rebuild New Orleans, the Hornets will move too. Probably to San Diego. Watch.

The Seattle Kings, harharhar Residents of Seattle are still pissed about Safeco and Qwest. There is no way they'd fund the construction of a new stadium for anybody. Not the Sonics. Not the Kings. Not an expansion team. It's a dead deal in that city. Besides, Key Arena is only about a decade old anyways. I don't understand the constant bitching about the need for a new building. Guest Smues Report post Posted November 2, 2007 Residents of the whole state are mad about those stadiums. People on the Spokane side of the state get no benefit from those stadiums but they're still paying for them.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted November 2, 2007 Ideally, I'd want the Sonics to stay in Seattle, the Hornets to move to Oklahoma City, the Clippers to move back to San Diego, and the Kings to move to Las Vegas. It just makes more sense. The Las Vegas Kings? Make the logo a pair of kings. I don't know why Seattlelites are so pissed about Safeco and Qwest. They're absolutely gorgeous stadiums, among the best in their respective leagues in modern design. I swear, they'll whine about just anything up there. Screw them whining about paying for a stadium, they don't pay income tax. It evens out. And agreed about Key Arena. It's only a couple years older than Staples. Seattle deserves an owner who's going to serve their best interests.

Screw them whining about paying for a stadium, they don't pay income tax. It evens out. There was a huge tax increase that came with those gorgeous stadiums, VX. And even though I don't remember the exact politics of what happened, I think they voted the stadium deal down and ended up with the bill anyways. Ask any resident of the area and they'll tell you how much bad blood still resides over that whole mess.

Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2007 The Seattle Center is actually about 20 years old. It was remodeled in the 90's when it was rebranded Key Arena. They only thing that remained after the remodel were the roof trusses and parts of the concrete support system. The rest of the building is brand new as of 1995. EDIT: Deferring to Wiki The arena was opened in 1962 as the Seattle Center Coliseum. It was completely rebuilt in between 1994 and 1995, using the roof trusses. The building's original roofline was used as a guide and some of the original concrete for the main supports still exists, but almost everything about the arena was brand new. The court was lowered 35 feet below street level to allow for 3,000 more seats. After the rebuild, the Coliseum was renamed KeyArena, as Key Bank purchased the naming rights. The first regular season game that the Seattle SuperSonics played in KeyArena at Seattle Center took place on November 4, 1995, against the Los Angeles Lakers. Because I know they don't have state income tax. Although, that'd be hell if I got my paycheck and had a Seahawk/Mariner tax on there.

You'd be better off finding a Washingtonian to break it down, but I think there are diverted Lottery funds, an increase in the state sales tax, and an additional bar/restaurant tax that make up the package for Safeco. Qwest was partially funded by Paul Allen, but there was a similar package for that one as well. Keep in mind that this all came after the residents voted against any tax increase to pay for a new stadium.
Guest Pizza Hut's Game Face Report post Posted November 2, 2007 Ideally, the Supersonics should stay. The Hornets were the team that needed to move to Oklahoma City, since they'd be leaving a toxin-soaked ghost town for a stable environment that actually wants them there, and Seattle is too large of a market not to serve. The Clippers do well enough in Los Angeles, and there's no suitable arena in San Diego anyway, nor do I know of plans for one. The Kings have improbably made Sacramento work for a while now, so I'd be surprised to actually see them go. The Bucks feel the Bradley Center is unacceptable for some reason, but with Marquette, UW-Milwaukee, and the Badgers all providing more compelling and less expensive basketball, the moribund Bucks really don't serve any purpose. If they want a new arena with more luxury boxes, it's in Kansas City.

Cartman 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2007 There has never been anything worth commenting about for this team since their ECF run with Pierce and Walker. Ainge finally came through and put together a contender, so obviously you will see more of us "Bandwagon" fans talking about the team.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2007 The Knicks should've won today, but Gibson nailed a bunch of 3s in the 4th. LeBron is a bitch. The Hawks will make the playoffs this year. Indiana is 2-0.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2007 you can take off the quotes. Failed Bridge managed to have something to talk about Celtics wise for all these years because he is a Celtics fan. Be proud to be a bandwagoner. Just don't act like you aren't Hawks take down the Mavricks tonight in a damn fine game. Looking good. Problem is when Zaza and Speedy Claxton get back will Mike Woodson be able to manage the lineup? I doubt it, but good start for the team.

alfdogg 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2007 Pacers go on a 13-0 run to win by 2 over the Heat. Lookin good so far. We were really lucky tonight, though. The final score was 87-85, which is right where Pat Riley wants his team playing, score-wise. We only shot 39% from the field. It's good to see that we can still win a game if we have to slow it down, but we really should have run those guys off the floor without Wade out there. Guest Report post Posted November 3, 2007 Speaking of bitchslappings, what the hell was wrong with the Suns? They still can't defend big men. Now the entire country was able to see why the Lakers never want to trade Andrew Bynum. The Suns were forced to send a 2nd guy and were being killed by Vujacic and Radmanovic. That's when Kobe wasn't on the court, and when he was, they couldn't double Bynum at all.
