I was most impressed by the play of the linebackers on both sides to make some very nice interceptions. I didn't see the blown calls at all so I have no idea and I don't get what the hell stick was up Brady's ass at the end of the game.

 

Nice win for New England but seriously, the refs crap needs to stop. Two outstanding teams just played an outstanding game full of great plays.

They will likely have already secured a playoff berth at that juncture. I'd call for Pittsburgh to get the job done on both counts of knocking Brady out on his ass and handing them their loss.

Meanwhile, I think I'd have to say the NFC North is the toughest division in football this year. Minnesota has God at running back now, apparently, the Packers always find a way to win and are discovering a running game, the Lions look spectacular and might even be the best team in the division, and the Bears can beat anyone on any given day, especially when healthy. The AFC South looked tough at first, but no one outside of Indy has looked impressive as of late. The AFC North is the Steelers' to lose at this point, with maybe the plucky upstart Browns coming in at the wildcard. I don't know anyone in the AFC to get the 6th spot. The Jaguars, maybe? Yikes.

The Colts played a heck of a game with a couple starters out of the lineup. Honestly I was more impressed by them than New England, they moved the ball with relative ease, Addai was great, and their defense was effective v. the run and got more pressure on Brady than any team to this point. They just couldn't stop Moss and the offense couldn't deliver a knockout punch when they needed to. If it's any consolation to the Colts (and I'm sure it isn't) they made the Pats look mortal and put an end to a couple of their ridiculous merits (scoring on their first possession of every game for example). Might have even provided a bit of a gameplan for the rest of the league. The Pats are just so fucking talented and so well coached that they can be outplayed and still win the game. Ridiculous.

As crazy as it sounds...for whatever reason the Patriots do seem to lose to Dolphins on occasion when they're doing well. And even with as shitty a Dolphins team as they have this year, anything can happen. That's right, I say the Dolphins have a better chance of beaten the Pats then the Ravens.

 

But I really don't expect their starters to be played fully the last few games. Even with the 16-0 talks from everyone else, in the end that doesn't really matter, and I doubt they're going for it. (I'm sure they want to win, but it's not like they're going to play everyone, all four quarters of every game the rest of the season as I've heard a few people say)

 

I'm just really hoping the Patriots don't have to play the Colts again for the championship. That was way to close to a loss, and that wasn't really that important of a game. (Other then going for home field)

I don't really have anything against the Colts, but the Pats do irk me. I hate all this hoopla about "team unity" bullshit, when they guys like Seau and Moss, who basically screwed over their former teams in order to get to the Pats in the first place.

They're certainly carrying the team a lot further than the defense, which has gotten a lot of the credit for the Pack's 7-1 start. They're ranked 2nd in the league in passing, and are only 9th in total offense because the running game is ranked dead last in the league. Defensively speaking, they're ranked 11th against the rush and 22nd against the pass, 14th overall. They're solid and good enough to win games and not lose because of them, but the secondary is starting to worry me at times, especially the depth at corner and the inexperience at the safety positions.

 

Now the Cowboys are ranked 5th against the run, and 13th against the pass, 6th overall in the league on defense, while ranked 9th rushing and 3rd passing (2nd overall to the Pats) on offense. To me, that says shootout, with a couple big plays on defense for both sides.

The Cowboys have a really really overated D. Beside playing the Giants and Pats, who both shit on them, they have played the Dolphins, Bears, Bills, Rams and Vikings, all terrible offensive teams.

Maybe because I'm a bitter Raider fan, but it seems to me that Moss really dogged it in his two seasons in Oakland especially last year. In all honesty, I'm kinda glad he is getting what he wanted (play for a contender), but I'm really kinda jaded at the fact that he was a clubhouse cancer and malcontent and all of a sudden he turned it around when he got to play for a good team. I really question Moss' intergity and work ethic when times get tough. I actually kind of wonder what Moss would be like if the Pats tanked this year.

The Titans are scraping by the teams that they should be beating up until today, and I don't think they have the overall offense to get them by a more experienced, solid team like Jacksonville. I know they beat them already (by 3), but they'll play again next week, so we'll see again.

I hate the AFC not because everybody (incorrectly, but I'll get to that in a moment) talks about how dominant it is over the AFC, but that has nothing to do with comment about Indianapolis. I don't like the Colts as a top team because, even with their Super Bowl win this past year, they've choked at inexplicable times and never really look like a top squad, although their record is supposed to reflect that. That makes it feel like they rack up wins against inferior competition, which, given the division they've played in for the past few years, is not too far out there. Note that I'm talking about their overall run the past few years, and not this season, which even with some key injuries, they've put together a hell of a run even with today's loss.

 

As for the AFC's dominance over the NFC, it's an illusion done in by the two teams out there who are really playing in a league of their own as no team in either conference has shown they can really compete with them well. The rest of the league is absolute parity. There are 9 teams in the NFC at or above .500, and 10 in the AFC. Now, are the Cowboys and Packers better than the Patriots and Colts? Clearly not. But I would say, and their records reflect this, that they are better than most of the AFC is right now, and much of the NFC is competitive with the AFC. I'm not saying that the NFC is better by any means- GOD not with that NFC West- but the two conferences are much more competitive with each other than one might think.

The same could probably be said for his demanding a trade out of Minnesota as well, leading some to believe that the only way he'd be satisfied is by playing for a contender and being a featured receiver (he was reportedly very unhappy with Jerry Porter on the Raiders, and may have pretty much killed his career by demanding to be better featured in their offense). That said, Moss is nowhere near a character issue on the level of a Terrell Owens, but everyone remembers a lot of antics like him getting into his shouting matches with his quarterbacks, or walking off the field with 30 seconds left in a game against the Redskins, and all that.

Well a couple of other posters have already explained why Moss did what I claimed. I don't have much to add. Living in Sacramento, we get Raider coverage, so it seemed obvious that Moss dogged it because he didn't like being on a losing team. I mean for christ sakes, the league experts basically wrote him off during those two years, saying he had lost a step, would never be the same etc etc etc.....and now because he is on a Superbowl contender, they just forget that he sat around and moaned and bitched enough for the Raiders to want to wash their hands of him, and now suddenly he is "Mr Unselfish Teammate" Riiiiiiiiiight.

There were some terrible PI calls in that game and the penalty numbers were a little too out of whack for my tastes. I'm not saying NE didn't earn almost every call (aside from those aforementioned horrible PI calls), but I just wish the referees would have let them play the game.

 

And this team played it's worst 3 quarters of football of the season and STILL beat a fucking great Colts team. Only Pittsburgh has any shot of beating them in the regular season.
