Damn. Is that the biggest fine, like..ever? I know that if you are suspended without pay you could look at that as a fine, but like, just as a fine, that is pretty big.

The maximum fine for missing a game without team approval is 1/110th of your annual salary. Marbury makes about $20 million this year, so that's how the $180,000 figure was derived.

Oh okay, guess that makes sense. I cant think of another guy making that much money that has skipped out on a game which is why that fine is so big I guess.

Oh please, the free agent market of after next season should be pretty nice with the guys that aren't signing extensions now. Marbury is due 20 this year and like 22 next year, but that is alot coming off the cap when there are actually attractive free agents....unlike this year where there wasn't anything really worth jumping on in the free agent market.

If you're referring to Okafor/Igoudala/Smith/etc. those guys are restricted FA's this coming summer, not the summer after. I'm not really seeing anyone from that summer who's worth putting up with Marbury's bullshit for the next two years, unless you're banking on Chris Paul and/or Deron Williams to not be locked into an extension. Although under Kobe's current deal, he could opt out that summer, but I would think he'd have been traded and signed a new deal by then.

I'm hoping that the Sonics will pull out at least one win by the end of the week. Of course with Dwayne Wade coming back against the Sonics, watch them get shorted on this one by some game winning Wade shot.

Well, Josh Smith is out the rest of the game with a strained quad and Acie didn't break his leg, they are just calling it a sprain now, although I don't see how that thing is only sprained.

You must have missed the Hawks/Celtics game where the officials let both teams know that the fans were there to watch them, not the players.

I didn't watch it, but were they calling traveling on a simple spin move? And when the other team did the same, nothing happened?

Anyway, solid win tonight. As of now, I'm of the opinion that Kobe can't get traded. As long as the team plays well, you let him nut up and opt out at the end if he wants out. But RIGHT NOW, this team has the pieces to play ball. Fisher and Farmar have both been the point guard we've lacked, and since Odom's come back, he's played nicely with a third proven scorer in place to get some shots.

Bro, a nice win is the Lakers putting the Rockets away when they had a chance to, not letting the Rockets keep coming back and potentially tie it up with a last second shot.

The Rockets shoot like, 5-8% better and they win.

We simply couldn't find the basket and let another win slip away.

The Pistons gut out a win after Golden State looked like they were going to run them right out of the gym. This was a huge win because both Chauncey and McDyess were both out of the lineup after the loss in Portland. The more things that cause the Pistons to get better as a team as a whole I will take.

I am impressed with Rasheed staying in his shoes, especially after shitty calls against him. Whomever here said something in the preseason about him losing weight and coming in in shape in the offseason was dead on. His game is more consistent on every level and he is hitting big time shots. Rip's midrange game is looking a little weak with the exception of the game before last, and I hope that rounds into shape. I just hope that's because of the ankle injury he suffered in the preseason, not to mention being a new father. All Jason Maxiell needs is a consistent midrange jumper and he will be the next Karl Malone. Flip Murray is finally looking like the Flip Murray that was doing well in Cleveland.

The Warriors really need to stop relying on trying to blow teams out with their long range game. It may work early, but guys wear down over the course of 48 minutes and they start missing shots. They were cutting the Pistons into tiny pieces early, but the Pistons kept right on grinding and just outworked them at the end. Not to mention they seriously need to stop flopping to try and draw fouls. I saw at least two instances where both calls were oversell jobs. They need a much more balanced attack offensively, as both Detroit and Cleveland got down big to them and they both came back to beat them.

Its being reported that the Pistons and Lakers agreed on a trade for Kobe but Kobe blocked it with his Veto.

Apparently Hamilton, Prince, Amir Johnson and a first rounder from Detroit.

Somehow, i don't see that as believeable.

Ric Bucher said that on a radio station earlier this week, but Chad Ford just said in his chat that it's completely false.

That's a pretty good trade both teams.

I think so too. It's a deal that probably makes both teams better in the short and long run.

It's becoming increasingly apparent that Kobe just wants to be Jordan, with Deng as his Pippen. I don't think there's any other scenario that would satisfy him, be it with the Lakers or any other team.

I personally don't think its a good trade at all.

The pistons lose defensively, and offensively they already have two guys that will demand a double (billips on the post, Rasheed on the Post).

Plus the whole Kobe/Rasheed dynamic.

What's the Kobe/Rasheed dynamic?

They don't lose much defensively. Hamilton is average at best, and Prince is good, but Kobe is a beast. They still have Afflalo, and Stuckey and they can put Kobe at the SF for some games. Offensively they'll be nasty.

Screamin' A said that Kobe isn't going to be traded this season. Kobe and Ric Bucher are like BUTT buddies. Chad Ford's wrong, the trade was probably real.

Anyhow, Kobe just wants what he wants, and he's not going to get it. It's not about him winning games, if he went to Detroit, he could have done that. I think he'll realize that we have the best situation that could be provided for him soon enough.

So, maybe the trade would work better if you switch out Tayshaun for Sheed? That would keep the Pistons D intact while giving them an entirely new dimension offensively and give the Lakers some good scoring ability on the post and on the ball. So the Lakers would have Fisher/Farmer-Rip-Sheed-Odom-Bynum while the Pistons have Billups-Kobe-Prince-Maxiell/Mohammed?-McDyess. I guess that giant offensive void on the frontcourt is what would be the problem there for Detroit.

Kobe doesn't want to go to Detroit. The trade is never going to work, and that's all there is to it.

He wants to play for the Chicago Bulls. Nobody else.

Richard Hamilton is a VERY good defender. It gets lost in the fact that he is a offensive weapon. He has alot of energy and can stay in front of most guards. People forget his role in the Kobe shutdown in the NBA finals.

Prince is not a "good" defender. He is one of the leagues best defensive players. Kobe is a better defender than Hamilton, but he is not better than Prince in any stretch of the imagination. Prince can routinely guard positions 1-5 and do a decent to great job at all of them. Trading him leaves a gaping hole in the team that would weaken it alot.

The Rasheed/Kobe thing I mentioned is how will those two explosive personalities react? How will Rasheed react the first time Kobe barks at him for taking a three. He isn't going to bow his head and run up court like Smush Parker or Vlad or Luke Walton.

And the reason you can't change out sheed for Prince is that Sheed is also a monster defender at the rim which lets the Pistons get away with defending one on one and overplaying all over the court.

Billups, Mcdyess and Hamilton are the Pistons starters that are expendable and with them still being a good team. Mostly because Prince has been basically running the point alot this year, they still have Stuckey, and Maxiell to replace Mcdyess and Billups(while Stucky would be a step down, with Kobe on the team, all you would need is a guy that can defend and hit the open shot at the PG position).

I say again, only the Suns and the Bulls can put together a decent package for Bryant and still be competetive enough to win a championship.

Hamilton is not a very good defender. He may have improved but he's still not close to being as good as Kobe. You're telling me that a team with Billups, Kobe, and Sheed won't at least make it to the Eastern Conference Finals? All of them are very good at both ends of the court. They're comparable to Allen, Pierce, and KG because they can defend those players.
