I happened to wake up around 2:30 in the morning and decided to watch that. That was a pretty fun brawl though Bischoff constantly apologizing and getting ready to enforce the WCW longshot policy if someone started bleeding was annoying. I have to hand it to WCW, they really seemed to know how to set up a parking lot brawl to have a lot of fans watching.

Did anyone get Tribute to the Troops 2006? Because it wasn't listed on WWE.com's schedule and lasts until January 1st, and Cogeco doesn't have it here, I thought Sunflower may have made a typo and it was supposed to start on the 19th (and not the 9th).

However, zio tells me he has it... AND received an actual honest to God reply from WWE.com about missing the Monday Night Wars.

I got it right on time. As a matter of fact. My 24/7 has been perfect in terms of updates over the past month. I guess all my rants and emails to executives finally has paid off! LOL :headbang:

On my Cogeco system we actually have Miz's gift (Undertaker vs Mankind, KOTR 98) but is has the Hogan/Savage description. Oddly enough it is correctly titled "Miz's Gift", just has the wrong description and apparently was put up on the wrong date.

You may recall my preview of the May 5th Raw (see page 1) mentions a shocking heel turn. I realized that the timeline for this makes no sense at all and verified via Cawthon's page nothing of the sort happens on the May 5th Raw. Not sure why Wrestling Information Archive says otherwise. I'm changing it to reflect this.

More than likely, it is Ahmed Johnson's heel turn to join the Nation of Domination.

May 5, 1997 - RAW: Hart Foundation segment (Bret Hart thanked each Hart Foundation member and called them the Best pack of Lions; The Harts vowed to find Shawn Michaels and take him out tonight!), Rockabilly w/Honky Tonk Man b Ahmed Johnson by DQ (Rockabilly tried to use the guitar, Ahmed got it and smashed it over Billy's head for the DQ!), Vader b Goldust, Crush b ????? & ????, Ahmed Johnson b Crush (Ahmed then joined the Nation of Domination), Doug Furnas & Phil Lafon b Legion of Doom (Hawk & Animal), Steve Austin b The British Bulldog (European Champion) in a Non-title match,

However, I don't think this makes much sense. A Cold Day In Hell was on May 11th of that year if I remember correctly, and Ahmed lost the gauntlet to the Nation.

Yeah, that's the heel turn I was referencing, but when I checked History of the WWE (realizing Ahmed couldn't be in the Nation AND do a Gauntlet Match with them 6 days later) I didn't see his heel turn listed until June or so, occurring during a tag team match where he doesn't tag in. Most unusual.

haha fucking awesome! on this episode of Raw, you can see me holding my "jWo" sign! I'm on the hard camera side wearing a John Starks New York Knicks jersey, complete with flat top hair! You can see me good during Pillman's opening promo! hahaha whatta dork!

Well, it was okay to do Austin vs. UT since Bret was selling the injury (or was he actually hurt?)

Was this when Bret was in the wheelchair? IIRC, he was legitimately recovering from surgery.

I always thought the wheelchair made Bret that much cooler as a heel since he was ordering the Hart Foundation to do all the damage while he was injured.

Cogeco remedied me being a day ahead with the Shorties by putting up Jack Korpela's last night, so we're on even ground again. I also checked the description for Prime Time and was kinda bummed to see it listed as hosted by Monsoon and Heenan, I was hoping for it to be hosted by Vince, Heenan, Monsoon, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, and Hillbilly Jim sitting in a conference room. I'm sure it will be a nice slice of early 90s nostalgia as that was when I first got into this crazy thing called wrestling.

I honestly can't remember why we called it the Jobber World Order...I think we thought i would be funny to see all of the jobbers in the industry unite only to continue to get beaten over and over again.

I apologize for my dorkiness there...again, i was pretty trashed at that point.

They messed up the description. It is a roundtable and it is hosted by Vince, Slaughter, Hillbilly, Heenan and Lawler. It was a fun watch from a period we don't get a lot of stuff from. Vince also makes the official announcement that Raw is coming.

Yes! I cannot wait to get home from work. We did not get Prime Time Wrestling in Canada (as far as I know) but I saw a few from around this time on a tape my cousin got from friends of the family in the US (which I stupidly taped over by 1996). The thing I remember most was they showed squash matches from Superstars more often than 17 minute snoozers from house shows (at least on the few episodes I saw), so it seemed special when they did show you a Superstar vs. Superstar match that you didn't get on the weekend syndies. One of the episodes I had featured the SummerSlam 92 dark match of El Matador vs Papa Shango from SummerSlam 92.

Basically, I'm hoping to see Razor Ramon stiff a jobber with the Razor's Edge followed by a competitive bout between Papa Shango and Marty Jannetty.

Yeah, there a lot of fun and quick squashes in there. Yoko murders a guy, which is always fun to see.

Wait until the Special Report focusing on the Bret/Heenan showdown. I had no recollection of that at all, so it was really cool to see.

Agreed... we also get a Kamala squash and antics from the evil Doink!

Man, that was a fun show. I see why people who watched wrestling in the 80s go crazy over those NWA shows. As soon as I saw Doink mulling about during a Bossman match, I was hoping it was the match with the trip wire spot. I was happy. Heenan and Lawler together on commentary were great too.

Almost all of those matches featured at least one person who was either on Raw this Monday, or dead. Or Razor Ramon. Speaking of which, gotta love his work with jobbers. I'm a big fan of his abdominal stretch.

Strange to see Vince put over the Steiners as such a prominent tag team, but I guess they did that with Flair too. Obviously they never mention WCW but they put over their past "amateur and professional" accomplishments.

The January preview before the Christmas 97 Raw mentions that the first Nitro will also be part of the debut theme (wonder if this will end up cutting into the MNW episodes?) and, while to me it sounds like WWE.com's wording of the Debut Shorties is "Raw debut", I guess it's debut in general since they showed a young Bret Hart in MSG.

Sweet... that means we'll get the Pillman/Liger match that opened Nitro.

You know I don't recall this either. Strange. I take it had to do with Heenan's relationship with Ric Flair.

Although for a brief time in December of 1992, I had decided to watch wrestling. I think I stopped for four weeks. 2 or 3 other times I've done this but always went back to wrestling. I missed some of the last Prime Times. I remember being upset about Prime Time being done and being replaced by Raw but I think that worked out in the end. ;)

I remember all the changes in formats too. I can't remember though when they went from Monsoon and Heenan to the studio audience with McMahon and Heenan.

Oh hell yes. I very likely saw that Prime Time show when it aired in late 1992. I too was upset that the show was cancelled and things went dark for a couple of weeks and then Raw started. In fact when Raw first aired the only real complaint I had was that it was 1 hour instead of 2. I wanted more dammit!
