Guest Report post Posted January 6, 2008 At least Josh Scobee didn't fuck that up. What the Steelers free safety was doing instead of tackling Garrard on the gigantic 4th down conversion, who knows.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 Seattle has a better chance against Green Bay, especially if the defence plays as well as they did today. If Seattle offence shows up sometime it's going to be blown wide open.

Kinetic 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 As a matter of principle, I typically only watch major market East Coast teams during the regular season, so I'd not previously had the chance to see how washed up Shaun Alexander suddenly is. What happened to that guy?
KingPK 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 I'd like to think Jacksonville at least has a fighting chance against New England. What's the seven-day forecast looking like for the Boston area? Any monumental blizzards on the radar? Weather doesn't look like it'll be a factor. Says partly cloudy and temps around freezing for next Saturday. I'll be rooting for Tennessee just so I can see LT cry again in the postgame. But if Haynesworth is out, they've got a miniscule shot (VY's status won't matter a lick since he'll probably suck anyway)

The Pats will have Trouble w/ Jone-Drew and Taylor... Their Defense has the ability to do what The Ravens and Eagles did to the Pats except their offense is better and Rasheen Mathis is One of the leagues best corners... He'll have his hands full w/ Moss though...
jimmy no nose 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 The way the Steelers moved the ball on Jacksonville in the 4th quarter doesn't give me a good feeling about their chances against New England. They might be able to take away some of the deep stuff for a good part of the game, but it looks like they might be able to go to someone like Welker or Kevin Faulk on shorter routes all day. Also, in both Steeler games this year Garrard threw pretty costly INTs that put Pittsburgh back in the game, aside from his draw tonight I don't know that I like him in a pressure situation. That running game and the backs out of the backfield should plow over New England's front seven though.

Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 That and constant injuries. The media would want you to believe that Seahawks have lived off Shaun since 2005, but that's really not the case. Alexander's been almost a non-factor since the 2005 Playoffs when he went out with a concussion. That's when the offense turned into a Hasselbeck-based offense and it really hasn't changed since. Thats why when Hasselbeck plays poorly, the entire offense collapses. It's been that way for awhile now. I was half right on the Seahawk's victory...It did all depend on if the Seahawk's showed up in the correct form to play. I was only wrong on how great the defense would be. So even when the offense fell apart, the defense kept the game alive. I really don't get what's up with Hasselbeck...He's been playing like this since his knee injury last year. I guess it's kind of a Farve mentality, where he feels he HAS to make the play at all times. Problem is, when he's having an off day, this happens. Luckily they were at home, and the defense picked up the slack.

Red Baron 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 Hawk: Its not that Hasselback is making bad decisions, its Holmgren. There's been plenty of times this season where a simple HB Pitch or Counter or even a PA Pass would work and instead they go for a quick out or a slant play. Poor play calling on Mike's part is the reason why they are 11-7 so far this year.
Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 I could...but who wants to actually learn anything? And I can see that...but I think Hasselbeck does make some crap decisions at times. It's probably a combination of the two and some form of miscommunication at times.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 Seattle-Washington was dreadful but the night game was plenty of fun. How many times will poor Hasselback's "We're gonna score" be replayed this week?
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 It's okay. ESPN said Hasselback is the most underrated QB in the NFL. So that means next week Green Bay should win by 30.
jimmy no nose 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 I know it's not a decision a guy is going to make in real time on the field, but on Garrard's 4th and 2 run once he gets past the safety the first time would it be the correct play to just let him go to the end zone? Had he scored on that play the Steelers end up with the ball with about 1L30 on the clock, 3 timeouts for what would either be a potential winning or tying TD drive. I think it's a much more desirable situation that what they ended up with there.

If Chudzinski doesn't get a head coaching job this offseason, he'll be a top name next year.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 I am utterly bewildered that some experts are seriously picking Seattle to go into Lambeau and beat Green Bay. Yes, I had the Seahawks winning yesterday because they're at least a decent home team and the Redskins really aren't very good. But let's face it, Seattle is a crappy road team (3-5 on the road this year) and hasn't beaten ANYONE all year. Of those 3 road wins they beat the horrible 49ers, Philly by 4 when I believe Feeley was starting for the Eagles, and needed a miracle fumble by Gus Frerotte at the goal line to beat the Rams in STL. And some people think this team is going to beat the Packers at Lambeau? In a way I'm glad Pittsburgh blew it last night because NE vs. JAX is at least a fresh matchup, provided Tennessee doesn't beat San Diego. Gotta think the Colts are rooting for the Chargers today, since they would want that revenge game vs. SD but wouldn't want to see the Jags a 3rd time unless it's the AFC title game. MFer 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 One thing that Seattle has going for them is that they have as much playoff experience as anyone in the NFC. Besides Favre and a few others, the Packers mostly have younger guys with little to no playoff experience. It's hard for me to pick Seattle though, because like cabbageboy said, Seattle usually plays like ass on the road.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted January 6, 2008 I would love for the Giants to win today, and so if maybe they could beat Dallas next week, that would pretty much be the Packers' easiest road to the Super Bowl imaginable. The Seahawks (and this is coming from someone who lives in their broadcast area and has been forced to watch all of their games this year) are a team that pretty much lucked into a playoff spot by virtue of a shitty division and an easy schedule. The defense and the quarterbacking is underrated, but the rest of the team has gone far south. Their secondary can be picked apart, the running game is inconsistent,, and their offensive line isn't very good. All three things that Green Bay can, and will, take advantage of, especially with an extra week to prepare for them and be healthy with. Tampa's playing pretty crappy football also. They're the only division winner worse than Seattle. Besides Favre and a few others, the Packers mostly have younger guys with little to no playoff experience. This is somewhat true, but on offense you have Favre obviously, Driver, Tauscher, Clifton, Lee, and Wells. The only guys with little experience are the two guards, Ryan Grant, and Greg Jennings, the last two who could and maybe should have gone to the Pro Bowl this season. And on defense, there's Al Harris, Charles Woodson, KGB, Kampman, Pickett, and Barnett who have all been playing in the league for years. The only part that scares me (and will probably kill them in the postseason) is the play and youth of safeties Nick Collins and Atari Bigby. Bigby was probably one of the worst strong safeties on a playoff team this year, and was killed in both the Chicago and Dallas games late in the year, even if he played well otherwise. Slayer 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 I dislike both teams, but if the Giants keep playing like they did in the first half, then I'd like to see NY-Dallas which could be a good matchup, especially considering their regular season matches which were fairly back-and-forth, and the whole cliché about division opponents in the playoffs
mike546 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 The Giants have played very inconsistent this year, but if all the inconsistent teams (NY, Seattle, Tampa) were to play at their best, I'd say the Giants are the best out of all of them. And Slayer said, The Giants lost to Dallas and almost beat them in week one when their D was still awful and didn't have an understanding of the new system, and still had a chance to win when they played shitty against Dallas in NY. Eli is looking great today, and COREY WEBSTER of all people is having a big day.
