King Kamala 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2008 HOW DARE YOU SPEAK ILL OF THE JUNKYARD INVITATIONAL? Yeah- WCW went through the longest stretch of shitty PPVs and it was in the era of monthly PPVs (Slamboree '99 to Fall Brawl '00). I think they went a good year and a half without a PPV that was better than mediocre.

Papacita 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 WrestleMania 12 - Triple H vs. Ultimate Warrior (1:36) Warrior's return shouldn't have been on PPV? For a lot of people, just his showing up was an automatic buy. For me, pretty much any of the pointless diva stuff where they're fighting over hairspray and stupid stuff like that. Everything else I'm fine with.

King Kamala 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 Wow, I didn't even know Justin Credible was in TNA (Assuming he was PJ Polaco). Doesn't surprise me. The dude has wrestled for pretty much every semi- major promotion in the past fifteen years outside of Smokey Mountain and WCW. Despite saying it was the worst of the old school WrestleManias, I don't really hate WrestleMania IV. I definitely hold some nostalgia for it as it was the first wrestling tape I "owned". I won Part 1 of the VHS as part of some cheapass raffle at a campground I used to stay at. Oddly enough, I didn't see Part 2 until about two years ago. It's not a terrible show (I'd definitely rank it ahead of IX, XI, XI, XIII and XV) but it's a chore to sit through in one sitting. Steamboat/Valentine, the Tag Team title match and the tourney final are all ***-***1/2 matches. And I'm a battle royal mark so the opener was a lot of fun for me. Jingus 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 I have to be the only one on this board who considers WM IV a personal favorite. No, I'm another one. IV was the first old-school Wrestlemania I saw on video, so I have a soft spot for it. Plus I'm a mark for tournaments. Plus it was the only Mania which didn't have goddamn Hogan in the main event. Wow, I didn't even know Justin Credible was in TNA (Assuming he was PJ Polaco). Yes, he had a couple of brief runs. The Polaco thing was in, what, 2005? He also had a run sometime around 2003 with a mini-feud against Jerry Lynn. I fondly remember one time they were shooting a backstage fight between the two, and Justin thought that security was being too aggressive in their pulling-apart, and started screaming "Let go of me! It's fucking fake!" Damn near every WCW ppv from their beginning to the bitter end had at least one match on there that absolutely nobody wanted to see. But it was right when I started watching wrestling, so I remember all of the build for the show even if I watched Clash of the Champions instead that day (my parents wouldn't spring for PPVs). WM IV was the first Mania I ever saw and the second wrestling video I ever rented. One of my fondest recurring childhood memories is renting the two-VHS set of the event at the video rental place down the street. I've seen the event so many times and had such a strong positive bias against it that I was shocked to see how hated it was when I got the 'net back in 2000. Of course, this is the company which brought us Jay Leno: Main Event Wrestler... and his match was BETTER than the abortions featuring Dennis Rodman. Hey, there's a great candidate: Rodman/Hogan vs. Malone/DDP. I want that forty minutes of my life back. A long WCW tradition, going back to Robocop running in on the Horsemen. The two never even wrestled, they just argued about whether The Cat really knew James Brown. That's WCW for ya. What made it even better was the WCW paid all that money for JB to show up and didn't even publicize to other news outlets that he was going to be there.
