What songs should be banned?

Recommended Posts

-Any and every song by Pearl Jam

Nope. Alive is one of my all time favourite songs.

-Dragonforce, Lamb of God, and Tool. I'm sick of all of 'em, and I can't turn MusicChoice Metal, Headbanger's Ball, WAAF, or WAAF's late-night metal show Harder Faster without hearing one - sometimes all three - of them. Yes, they're popular. Insanely so, in the point of Tool and Lamb of God. But is there NOTHING else to play?

Despite being the most pretentious band on the planet, I really like Tool.

As for songs that should be banned:

Scouting For Girls - She's So Lovely

I never want to hear this song ever again.

....JAMN 94.5

....WAAF...

hahahaaa, i got sick of 94.5 a long frickin time ago (though this might have something to do with me not liking rap much). plus i hate it when the neighbours play that station at those super-loud volumes that shake the house, but they don't turn it down during a commercial. because i love to hear about Urban Outfitters at 120 decibles :/

WAAF sucks ass now. the last three times i turned on that station they were playing Jump Around by House of Pain. THAT'S NOT ROCK. they used to be the only hard station. boo hoo.

ANYWAY, songs that should be banned-

- Who Let the Dogs Out?

- Macarena (even though i haven't heard this in a decade, it was overplayed so much that i need about three decades to get over it)

- Whoomp! There it is.

- Celebrate Good Times, Come On! heard at every party, dance, wedding, etc.

Anything that is down south rap -- sucks ass. I mean, "I think they like me?" I hate them. AIR FORCE ONE, SUPERMAN...these down south rap artist are losing originality.

I for one hated Limp Bizkit when they were out. I dont know if they were rockin or rapping, regardless, they suck in both genre.

Sorry, I just don't see what makes Coldplay so pretentious. Their music owes no small debt to The Bends, and that's one of the more straightforward Radiohead albums.

I've got a mixture of songs that are downright shitty and ones that were decent, but overplayed. Many people will say you can avoid the latter by simply not listening to the radio, but there are quite a few instances in which that's not possible. Of the top of my head:

- Crazy: sorta dug it when it first dropped and then every single non-country station started playing it all the time. The overexposure revealed how the song's minimalistic structure prevented it from having true staying power.

- Hotel California: I really don't know The Eagles' back catalog very well. This is one of those songs I used to like, but just got sick of from hearing it so many times.

- Shawty Got Low: or whatever it's called. If you hit up a club, listen to a Top 40 station in any capacity or have just one dumb friend, you've probably heard it. I can't stand it because its hook is the kind that just grates on my nerves and it features T-Pain. T-Pain is awful.

- Stronger: I dig Graduation, but I never got on this track. You've got the folks all ecstatic because of the Daft Punk connection and then those people who jump on whatever the radio's playing. I give Kanye credit for trying something different, but I just can't get into the techno sound. And I'm probably jaded that the lead single from Graduation got almost no attention while this, "Good Life," and "Flashing Lights" got mad play.

I think more people dismiss Lil Jon's capability to improve anything than they do the entire concept of sampling.

It speaks to the sporting-event/classic rock hypersaturation of "Crazy Train" that I watched about two minutes of this before I could confidently say that "Crazy Train" isn't that bad.

I've made the "Let's Go" > "Crazy Train" argument several times on this board before, however, there's more good riff than Lil Jon used in that song.

"Let's Go" was one of he best songs of the last several years due as much to Trick Daddy as Lil Jon. That was some mad niggerish shit he was laying down there. Twista... I got nothin' against Twista.

Here's another one I just thought of. I hear it played at lots sporting events these days but don't know what it's called. Though I've heard it referred to as 'zombie nation' I think. It goes something like "OohhoohhhohoohOHHoh. OhohohOHOHOHOHOH oh oh oh oh". If anyone knows what that is, please tell me, and it's gotten annoying at these events already.

Yeah "Crazy Train" kind of sucks which is weird cause I kind of like solo Ozzy. At least, I like him enough to own a greatest hits compilation.

Has "Centerfield" by John Fogerty been mentioned? Hearing it tends to be one of the few terrible things about going to a professional baseball game.

I don't expect Czech to like anything related to, created or influenced by Lil Jon, but I'm afraid he's wrong on this front. The song snatches the best part of Crazy Train. Everything after the opener in Ozzy's song is lethargic.

To get a little off-topic, hearing the song for the first time in maybe three years reminded me how excited I was for Trick's at the time, not-yet-released album. Then he peppered that thing with a bunch of soft and flimsy beats.

And seeing that video again makes me wish Trina actually had a verse in the song. She's a living, breathing counterargument to anyone who takes rap to task over the objectification of women.

No way on Centerfield! Maybe I hear the song once or twice a year but it always brings back good memories of little league and such.

"Crazy Train" isn't the best Ozzy/Rhodes song but it is pretty fucking far from bad. I find the whole song very enjoyable. Overplayed I'll agree with.

I don't listen to radio much these days but Meticalla should be banned. Everything the band has done is not fm single worthy and there are other metal bands.

"Smells Like Teen Spirit"

Seriously, people. It's over. It's Nirvana's worst song and it should never be played ever again.

Also, let's ban every patriotic country song that has ever been recorded, just for good measure. We already have enough of an irrational jingoistic epidemic in this country- let's not encourage the problem by pumping this propaganda into the ears of our stupid, impressionable youth while they are trying to enjoy themselves at the hog-tie competition.

Are you with me?
