naiwf 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 I don't know how it is in the Bronx right now, but it's barely misting in Manhattan about 3 miles from the stadium and it's been that way for at least an hour.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Man, Ryan Theriot leading off, eh? Oooooooookay.
Guest (Loggins Name) Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Worry not, Soriano will pout his way back to leadoff in a week. And here I thought Reed Johnson was going to bat leadoff today. This game has been rather unremarkable, except for Fuck You Do Me doubling on his first pitch.
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Edwin Encarnacion makes a throwing error on his first play of the year. Yes, baseball is back in Cincy. Nice weather in Chicago, looks like hell.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 This is such a fun game!

I've seen some lineups that have Fukudome in the two-slot, which makes sense if his numbers in Japan were any indication. I guess I'm just cold on The Riot at this point, although I'm not yet ready to jump on the bandwagon that has made Ronny Cedeno a fashionable candidate once again. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 The Nationals look good. If they can get some solid starting pitching, they'll be dangerous. I don't know how it is in the Bronx right now, but it's barely misting in Manhattan about 3 miles from the stadium and it's been that way for at least an hour. It's not raining in Queens either. Ugh. NYU 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Well, Santana went 1-2-3 in his first inning as a Met with two popups and a strikeout. That's good. And Carlos Delgado popped up with men on second and third with two outs. That's just expected.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Lastings Milledge just went deep. Good things the Mets dumped his sorry ass.
NYU 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Oh, don't get me started on the Milledge trade. The worst move they made since sending away Kazmir. They'll regret that this season.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Lastings Milledge just went deep. Good things the Mets dumped his sorry ass. In fairness, how often will the Mets need a big hit against the Phils? The term "hot start" means nothing to the Phils. If they start 1-6 again, ugh.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Why the hell do they keep calling Felix Pie, Felix Pee-Ay? It's P and ye put together. Reminds me of Abreu. It's A-bre-oo. Not A-Bre-U.
NYU 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 I always said Uh-Bray-you. Was I wrong all this time??
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Yeah. Everyone makes the same mistake. It's Ah-Bre-oo. Really close together though. Closer than those dashes indicate. Like one slur. Ahbreoo.

I can't really parse that, so I'll just ask: do we emphasize the first or second syllable of Pie? I hear people use both. I think we should just pronounce it "pi," or call him Cat Foot. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 It's not really two syllables. It's more like saying "ye" with a P in front of it. But if it had to be divided into syllables somehow, it would be the second one. He would say it right if he would stop adding the ay, and add a "ye" after the Pee (although it's really just the P sound, not Pee). Cat Foot makes most sense if you can't pronounce it. snuffbox 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Pretty good pitching from Sheets and Zambrano here.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Playoff caliber pitching thus far. Zambrano's made it through six without: 1) issuing a walk 2) punching a teammate
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 He should've punched Ramirez.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 And naturally he leaves the game with cramping (hopefully) soon after.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 I think stupid pitcher behavior is defined by Brett Myers catching a throw back from his catcher with a bare hand (his pitching hand), with a runner on third base.

Fuck it, I'm just gonna call him Cat Foot. Shame about Zambrano. I hope this isn't late-onset Dusty damage. I fear the worst. Poor Ernie. He doesn't sound so good. Bad day to get a cold. naiwf 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Mets up 6-0 now as Wright clears the bases with a double. I'm still concerned that Delgado will have another horrid year, but the rest of the big names have been pitching in.
